Aw Jess, please don't ever stop doing these! I feel you are spot on about God's character! One of the hardest things for me was to learn to have a relationship with Him. Just me and Him...nobody else. Nobody elses thought, opinions, etc. No church words and actions and phrases and expectations. Just us. It was then I learned so much about who He is. It broke a lot of my internal(and some external) condemnations and allowed for a lot of healing and a place of trust. It happened right before a very tragic event, that I think would have broken my relationship in two if I hadn't learned to trust Him. I'm still learning, not even near as close as what I wish I were. I no longer have a metric though of what a "good" Christian should look like. We're all just a bunch of sinful yet forgiven children trying to have a better relationship with Abba. Thanks for sharing your heart... ❤

HALLELUJAH!!! I don't know what I was thinking starting a coconut oil swish when I sat down to watch this. 5 min. in I had to spit it out when what you said hit me so hard. "It all comes down to... do you miss Him?" With tears flowing I say "YES". I confess to you that I have allowed my "talk time" be chipped away second by second, minutes then hours until it was virtually non existent, even though I have experienced His fatherly love and huge move in my life. I allowed my pursuits like a job and this permaculture project to become gods. So when my early morning prayer time was replaced with garden and chickens and I was so exhausted that I neglected my first ministry (hubby and children), He was SO FAITHFUL and amazing to go to (what seem to me ) great lengths to get me back on the right track (like just recently...as in weeks...) And so true what you say about the relationship and talking to Him about your feelings instead of a list of demands. Makes me think of the man who asked "help my unbelief". So blessed to hear your words of wisdom and truth. Blessings to you!

Jess, you being a devotion teacher is your gift and strength, gardening videos are the vehicle to get to these powerful teachings. I agree with all you have lead us to in this lesson. I knew this was going to be magnificent. When I'm done watching I feel like I've eaten the most decadent, savory, and sweet delicious meal I've ever had. So good! Thank you so much!!! I thank our LORD for you! *tears running down my face* BTW, your camera work is great! PS Daniels music is so good! Perfect!

I fell off the wagon with my faith. So focused on loss I was looking for something in the homesteading community. I do not own a homestead. I found you and you speak to my heart. Years ago I may have pushed you away as "religious babble" but today you bring that seed that was planted in my youth. I thank you thank you. In the 1st time in a long time I truly want out of this depression the devil blinded me with. I want more for me and my relationship with the father. I started to pray again the day your autos were in that accident and you spoke to me from your garden renouncing satan. Surely if you could not doubt the Lord that day than who am I to? Please know that if you helped anyone you helped me . Thank you for touching my heart and reminding me that I am special to my God. Thank God for putting such wonderful words in your heart . I truly thank you. This is only the beginning for me when for years I have been looking for a way out of life. He speaks thru you. I was only looking for gardening tips from someone who grew beautiful gardens. Silly me. Love ya girl. In a heartfelt non creepy way. Thank you is an understatement.

Hello Blue Eyes. It's been a year since you left this comment, and I just want to encourage you that God is still faithful to redeem everything you've been through, including your own hardness of heart. Do not let the enemy tie you down with shame because of the time lost. Do not let regret smother and choke you. YOU ARE LOVED BY THE ALMIGHTY GOD AND YOU ARE LIVING IN GRACE. Stay the course, pursue fellowship. I'll be praying 💙

Watched this video today and my 4 yo son was listening in. He asked, “Mom, how come that lady is talking about Jesus?”
And I said, “Because she loves Him!”
4yo: “Wow! So someday she’s going to be in heaven with us too?!”
    Me: “She sure is!”
4yo: “I’m glad she loves Jesus and gardens, Mom.” ❤️😊
Me: “Me too, buddy. Me too.”

Wow. So I am going to be real and say something I have never said before. I was a very religious person until the age of 9. I got mad at God when he took my only brother who was developmentally disabled. My home life was not wonderful and he was, in my mind, the only person I had. I was supposed to be Baptistize that day, which never happened. After a few years I returned to my faith and the only other person in my life I loved was diagnosed with cancer and died a few months later. This further gave me the belief that I should not believe ever again. That was more then 30 years ago and I am afraid. I’m afraid believing in him will wake someone else in my life away. You said some wonderful things and brought me to tears I don’t know if I can ever return to my faith. My fear is real. You are a wonderful person with such a wonderful heart. Know you are meaningful to many of us out here that is trying, searching for what and where we need to be, in faith and in life. Thank you

I was moved by your pain, your fear and most importantly, your honesty. The fact that you put all of those concerns in writing suggests to me that as deep is the hurt is/was, that you are hungry for healing and restoration. Anytime we shut off a part of our heart, we stunt our growth and opportunity to testify to God's healing....so I pray that this past year, knowing that God heard the cry of your heart, that you have seen the rough edges fall away, the fear replaced with hope, and the pain softened with joy in the Lord.

    • @diannamc367

My heart goes out to your pain.
My dad walked away from his faith when God took his mother home.
We lost him this past week and I still don't know if he ever found any peace with that😥
I pray that you have been able to bring those fears to God and find peace and love in that. Amen

I got so excited when you said you were going to do more of these. I am learning A lot from listening to you. I went to sunday school as a young girl, went to many different types of churches. Was very confused as a teen and younger adult on how to pray/talk to god, how to even get started. Then one day I just talked to god as I would a friend asking him to help show me what I need to know and how to have that relationship with him. Not long after asking that your channel popped up. Ive been thankful ever since. Idk what it is but I understand better listening to your devotionals. Im never left confused with a billion questions like I used to be. So thank you so very much for doing these!

Hello there yeah I understand about pain pain can get really deep inside your soul in your heart but the beautiful thing about pain if a person wants to say pain can be beautiful it's during that pain God Jesus can touch your heart your soul and your spirit to the deepest part possible because in paying your heart gets opened up a little bit and then Jesus can target that pain immediately I would just like to say in conclusion is this when you say you struggle with your relationship with jesus So the next time you're near the ocean a big body of water I want you to go to that edge of that water that coast and look out and you'll see the vast ocean and I Want You to visualized an Empty cup You reach Down and You Feel that whole cup full of ocean wahere comes You Don't have the whole ocean in that cup But all you got in that cup is ocean that's our relationship with God If you're empty inside your heart your soul and your spirit it's beautiful cause you can fill it with all Jesus or all ocean you don't have the whole ocean you don't have the whole Jesus but all you got is Jesus and all you got is ocean take care and remember keep your hand in his hand and he'll walk gives you wonderful places in your life beautiful places places you never thought possible the Lord bless you keep you safe and watch Over you And communicate with him daily daily

I subscribed to your channel because of your gardening expertise. You seemed to have manifested the very dream I had for my family. But as I watched more with the intention of learning more about living off my land, I found your devotional videos. Finding these videos was like finding diamonds in a bowl of ice cream. I have now watched several and I am yet to sit through one without feeling moved to the point of tears. There is nothing more beautiful than seeing a woman so earnestly seeking the Lord and glorifying Him through all things. So here is a garden fanatic, subscribed to a gardening channel yet the devotional videos are my favorite. You have been a blessing to me, Jessie x

Good devotional Jess, made me look deep within myself, finding a few things I didn't like and need to change in my heart as I pray to Our Heavenly Father. I love having conversations with Him, it releases so much stress and He gives me such a lift. He blesses me each and every day and then there are the days I wonder how can you love me as you do so unconditionally? He truly is faithful and devoted to us, overlooking our flaws with extreme grace of love. God Bless you and your family. :-)

I believe that God recently led me to this channel to help get back into an authentic relationship with Him. I had started searching RUclips for garden info (not sure why) and then your channel came up. Thank you so much for being real in sharing your heart, plus being so generous in sharing knowledge. It's rare these days to find a genuine message from someone who has the courage to boldly share their faith, and proclaim the goodness of God. I struggle with commenting on these social media sites, never knowing really what to say to show appreciation, but just wanted to send a message of gratitude and let you know how far reaching these messages are. Please be encouraged in continuing in what the Lord has called you to do. God bless you!

A powerful reminder that we need to grow up and behave like adults when talking to the Lord and his son. We often forget how we sound and often how we talk, not only to GOD but with each other. Like little children, we often put our needs and wants before God instead of carrying a conversation with him as adults or as a friend. We often chastise little children when they interrupt or just blurt out their needs; and yet we do they same thing when it comes to having a relationship with GOD.
Thank-You Jess for reminding us that there is more to a relationship; especially when it is a relationship with God or his son, Jesus Christ than meets the eye. Inspirational! :-)

Jess I’m brand new in my formal walk with Jesus. I’ve always believed but never been to church, owned a Bible or prayed except for when things were either going really bad or really good. I’ve had a stirring in my heart lately that I believe may be the Holy Spirit. Nudging me towards a more in-depth relationship with God. Of course “strange” things have been happening like running across your devotionals. I seem to be continuously being led and I’m all for it. However I don’t have anyone close to me that is close to God that I could go to for advise. Like I don’t even know what kind of Bible to buy. I didn’t realize it could be so difficult. I now know I’ll need a journal 😊 I can figure that one out!! Can you point me in the right direction on what kind of Bible to buy? And then where to maybe start once I get it? I realize your busy so I understand if you can’t. Heck this devotional was 3 years ago-you may never see this post. I’m treating it like a journal entry of sorts. Just typing what comes to mind. I want to thank you for your devotionals, I’ve watched almost every one now and they have all been fantastic. I’ve learned from each one. You are so good at that. I think I’ve watched more devotionals than I have of your other ones lol. But your great in those too ;). Ok I’m rambling. If you could point me in the right direction of a Bible that would be so appreciated. Take care ❤️

I'm so glad you're scripturally sound! I love your gardening videos and saw this video and just had to know what you believe, theologically, and I'm so relieved! It is so good to see your ministry...not only educating us on growing things (which kinda has some biblical parallels, too...like how stress on tomatoes causes better fruit!), but to see these talks on God and prayer. It is so encouraging!

Wow jess. These videos are old but still very anointed. I watched some of your others and they made me see that there was a closer relationship available but I didnt know what to do about it - still having all the same mindsets. This was very practical and helpful. I've journaled since I was 8 and im 33 now. I've never felt like it was okay to write my prayers...like that was cheating somehow, but I'm going to try it now. I hope I can some day help people the way you've been helping me. I normally never write comments but on your videos I just have to thank you.

"The boldness is a byproduct of the relationship." YES, 100%. Thank you also for sharing about your journey of through embarrassment. Thank you for sharing your own tendency to be long-winded about how you feel. I'm still journaling about how I feel about a situation that happened three years ago. Sometimes I feel ashamed about it, but your openness helped me remember that yes, God does care about how I feel and He DOES care that it's been three years and I'm still hurting. Thank you.

Jess, thank you for sharing your genuine spirit and love for the Lord. It is truly a blessing! I must confess I watch your devotional videos at least four times. I find each time I see something different in what you say. God also uses it to help me pray for you and your family.

Yes! I had a vision of being at a banquet with Jesus and there were many other people there (maybe the Marriage Supper of the Lamb 😊). Even though Jesus can be in the presence of so many, He's still able to make us feel as if we are the only one. One thing that really stood out to me was the hair on His arms. He is fully human and yet fully God!!!

Jess, could you please share the denominational church you belong to? I love the way you explain and minister Gods word and would love to belong to a church in which I could learn in this way. Any suggestions for either denomination or specific study bibles or groups who minister similarly? Thank you! God bless

Starting a Prayer Journal this New Year. Most of my prayer is full of Praise and Gratitude. But it will be good to remember what you asked for on a particular day. Being able to look back and see how God moves in my life. Thank You for your sweet spirit.

I adore the garden and cooking videos! This is the second time I’ve found one of your devotional stories and I am a loving viewer who is not Christian but am so touched by your love in your faith! We find God as we find him! I Pray we accept all in a kind and loving walk towards truth! Peace and Light! Look forward to finding more of these...I’m typing this as I listen to this one!

I want some much to have a relationship with God. I don’t know how to change my mindset.
Anyone reading this, i am open to suggestions.... Jess is so clear but I still don’t know what to write in a prayer journal. My husband is agnostic so I can’t really ask him...

I have been watching your channel for about a year, Jess, but have just recently stumbled upon your devotionals. I am so blessed by hearing them and thank you for sharing your heart for God with us. I hope you will write a devotional book one day! I will pray for your move to South Carolina and that you might continue to know which doors God wants you to open! I bless you!

I love this video. I was sitting on my couch with my phone while watching and my kitten Anna, who is rambunctious, came as soon as she heard your voice - which she has done before.... and sat on my lap purring and watching you intently the whole time. Her little face just inches from the screen. It was precious. Bless you Jess .

I was not raised going to church. I have never read the bible but have been feeling lost and out of focus. I told a good friend this and his answer was simple...Ask for help and it will come. I have never been good at asking for help but ok I will try. The answer came the next day. My conversations are more frequent these days. My mindset of Jesus is of a loving dad that just wants to help his kids get through life. Our conversations happen in the garden or out on the porch swing in a casual earthly father daughter kind of way. It is good and very comforting as it should be...but I will need guidance on how to be a good daughter and what he wants and needs of me. Is being included enough?

Thank you, Jess, for the reminder that our Lord is a real person and understands our faults. He can do anything if we ask with a sincere love in our hearts for Him. I needed this message today to go to Him for the small and large things in life. He knows before we ask. Love the message and the reminder. God bless you and your continued ministry. Thank you.

Thank u for ALL of your channel, for you. As an abuse survivor, I can attest to the fact that this damage affects my relationship with God. I am learning to trust God, learning to know he will not reject me and to know that he is always there for me and that it's ok if I lean on him. Thank u for reinforcing that truth.
