  • Could an F1 car run the full circuit at Le Mans? Fernando Alonso and Alpine found out in 2021, and they also ran simulations to work out how quick a full lap at racing speeds could be compared to the leading sportscar racers

This clip raised more questions than it answered.

I reckon they'd have to pull the aero out of it to get a decent top speed, but then it'd be pretty sketchy through the back end of the lap

Setup would be interesting, layout is similar to the old Hockenheim.

I was at Le Mans last week. Incredible. Surreal experience. I'd advise any motorsport fan to go once atleast

Circuit de la Sarthe is a very flowing but demanding track. It would require more advanced cooling perhaps because so much of the track is covered at full throttle. F1 engines are extreme-performance but short-life units. That would make the cars heavier. The aero would be the biggest problem perhaps, as a few others here have suggested.

Fernando can do no wrong in my eyes. Always been amazing behind the wheel of anything.

Is there enough braking at Le Mans to charge the ERS system properly for consistent racing??

People usually forgets that La Sarthe (on the Le Mans 24H config.) runs partially on a civilian (if not rural) segment, which weathered condition make it less than ideal for a F1.

If during tire changes the teams could also replace engines so yes, a F1 car could participate in an endurance race.

Considering the multiple layput options, i think Le Mans would be a good addition to the F1 calendar.

As an Alonso's fan, I only followed the 24h of Le Mans in 2018 and 2019 because of him, but it's breathtaking, one of the most gorgeous circuits in the world.

F1 should do a Garage 56 like Nascar does

An F1 race at Le Mans the week before the 24hr would be great for both F1 and WEC. F1 Grand Prix could run with the "support" being the WEC test sessions and LMP 3 races.
