    You obviously do not hear why Yngwie is so special. It is not about scales or speed. It is about the feel, the vibrato, his ability to improvise. When Yngwie hits a note you can hear him immediately. No doubt that's Yngwie playing here! This, my friend, is why Yngwie is special. No one can imitate his sound and feel.

    • @KingKull1971
      @KingKull1971 6 месяцев назад

      I disagree with you; It's all about the groove. The neoclassical part is great and all, but it's when he throws in the blues funk RnB, that's when it gets interesting. All the other shredders lack that ability. Yngwie can easily weave in and out of those styles/techniques and create a tapestry of music.

    I love how this guy appears for grannies on a family show alongside pop musicians and plays like he's still doing Budokan. It's what we love about Yngwie. His total inability to adapt to his circumstances, and always, ALWAYS, live the dream.

      Hi Pamela, I totally agree, I met Yngwie in 95 during the magnum opus tour and was lucky enough to spend three hours backstage and on the tour bus with home and the band. He's a great guy not at all big headed in fact he was very humble and grateful for all his fans. We ending up talking like old mates, he was very open and honest, I even asked him about the crash which he admitted he was a drunk as a skunk!!!! He even let me try the duck, its an evening I will treasure forever a fantastic concert followed by a once in a lifetime experience 🎸🎶🎶🎶

    It's not only about what you are playing but HOW your are playing it! YJM has incredible stage presence that definitely sets him apart from the rest of us. A few of us might claim to be able to mimic YJM's sound/technique perfectly, but how many of us can go on stage in front of a live audience and look just as good doing it?

And at the same time if your car gets stolen or someone gets beaten down etc, the cops don't do jack, they don't have the resources... Might be time to plan a move from Sweden soon, probbly will go bankrupt in 10-15 years, tbh...

Musicians know a good musician when they hear one. Wish I was kicking back with them on the picnic table! Looks like someone there might have a crush on Yngwie!

    The thing I enjoy the most about this video it's the little smile Yngwie makes at 3:05 while playing the song. I mean, the guy has done hundreds of shows all around the world and has been in this business for more than 30 years now and still loves playing the guitar so much that even if he's just pointlessly playing a basic song during a picnic he's still happy like a kid.

      Like they aren't even wanna be there. They don't know how difficult it is to play and reach that level at guitar. Like a pop star who plays 3 chords and the audience wet themselves and this video shows a guitar virtuoso plays thousand of notes and the audience looks like they wanna go home. F*ck them. Yngwie after the show just get his ass out of there as soon as possible.

    Even when drunk he can put on a show like this. The people there was like wtf? he's a virtuoso, but he mainly is R&R and that's undeniable. He really didn't care about perfection here, he just wanted to show off and say "bah, that's the fury, you had a taste of it, whether you like it or not"

  • @epic103
    @epic103 11 лет назад +3

    My friend... Yngwie is much more than just speed. He's also articulate, clean, and precise. Plus... his vibrato is one of the best in the history of rock/metal.
    If you get a chance checkout songs like Brothers, Icarus Dream Suite, Crying, Guardian Angel, Marching Out and will hear great phrasing, great vibrato, and very emotional playing.
    Don't judge Yngwie by one clip, checkout his entire body of work before you come to conclusions. Because he's a super talent and guitar legend. Respect

  • @boxboxbox624
    @boxboxbox624 Год назад +1

    I can't understand what they are saying, not a single word! But just seeing Yngwie with an acoustic guitar, playing with his peers and truly enjoying his life is a great insight into the man himself and completely changed my opinion of him. I believe he truly values his culture on a grass-roots level and what we normally see of him is the fluff or bread-and-butter job that the west has offered him. I gained a lot of respect for him just to be able to survive in a westernized industry for so long when where so many western musicians could not.

  • @epic103
    @epic103 12 лет назад +4

    He's the best at what he does, PERIOD!
    As far as a modern rock lead guitar player, YJM is as good as it gets. His tone, vibrato, and showmanship are top notch!
    Yngwie has done over 20 albums, written a Concerto, and played with some of the best musicians on the planet. By any standard Yngwie is among the best guitarist that ever lived. He is a true virtuoso!

    5:18 - Man, that Swedish crowd are tough!
    Yngwie is pulling out all the usual stops, spinning his guitar and literally exploding out of his spandex into their faces ..yet, most of the audience sit straight faced through the performance. Probably more the type of crowd that react at the end :)
    This audience would probably make fantastic poker players ..not a 'tell' on their faces ;-)

      Icarus333 yngwies playing is boring and repetative. He doesen’t bring anything new or tasty to the table. His technicality is impressive but nothing else. When i think of classical music, i think of real violins and trombones etc etc. Not a stressfull guitar screaming in my ear. That’s simply why yngwie has lost 90% of his fanbase since he had his breakthrough🤷‍♀️
      (Jimi hendrix spoke to the people, yngwie speaks over the people, as if he’s trying to prove something)

      I know there are two kind of people posting under Yngwie's videos and I don't want to be "that guy". But his arpeggios are pretty sloppy, simply because of his arrogance. Michael Angelo Batio for example plays them very clean if you want a comparison.
      Yngwie wants to be a virtuoso so badly and he thinks fucking up his songs live will help.

    • @Dolphinsz
      @Dolphinsz 8 лет назад +2

      Yeah Michael Angelo is god like perfection! Yngwie is a prick, but i just like the sound of neo classical stuff!

      @grandvizier388 8 лет назад +4

      Yes, same. I do enjoy Yngwie's music, but sometimes I get annoyed how sloppy he plays live. He think it symbolizes that he is the super maestro who can totally master his pieces and is beyond everything, but I don't think it works. This video is a good example.
      Once again, I don't want to be a hater, but I think I made a fair point.

      He was the best in the 80s but he's only good in one style & that's it. Saw him live & I left early, it gets boring after a while. Btw he was selling used DNA strings for $50. Lmfao!

    Coming from the same place regarding apreciation for his music. But you miss to see all the pure epicness of exactly him playing this setting. Malmsteen is who he is, and stays rocking even if the Titanic is sinking ;). There is many fun things to this vid, such as the wrong song title names, the backing band in the first song, the complete over the top ending in Far Beyond the Sun giving everyone with a sense of fun something to smile at :). Malmsteen a living legend.

    He's so awesome and I luv his music but he's so Spinal Tap. You have to admit that his inability to let go of the 80's hair extensions and his general persona is pretty damn funny..

    • @adambayer6207
      @adambayer6207 8 лет назад +5

      +skategangster Has any artists who has made it since for ever dropped anything about their style? Slash still wears a top hat, Keith Richards still wears that head bandana and smokes like a chimney, Joe Perry still looks like he just came out of a 1980s music video, Lemmy Killmeister (RIP) didn't change anything until his death. So i mean maybe its a bit Spinal Tap or whatever, but its part of their persona and they just dig it.
      could you ever imagine Yngwie Malmsteen with short hair and formal clothing, performing live? When people pay for his performances they pay for a show and expect this 80s look. Yngwie Malmsteen is at his most comfortable with this 80s look. If people hate it or love it, it doesn't really matter because it is about him and his musical performance.

    • @RNicolasRuvalcaba
      @RNicolasRuvalcaba 8 лет назад +2

      I completely hear what you're saying but there are some artist that were in their prime in the 80's that lack the cheese factor like Judas Priest and Scorpions; cuz their look was never that cheesy to start with I guess..

    Some people complain that he does not play the melody like this in tablature hahahaha ! It's been over years that it touches so precisely to abide by copying both he do today ! And furthermore shows his technique with arpeggios ! It's nothing mechanized my friends listen and enjoy ! This is Yngwie Malmsteen !

    Omfg, Yngwie is turbocharged in this performance, or well, he definately 'still got it'. Apropriate title would indeed be living legend. Wether he makes you smile, cry or laugh he is having the time of his life performing and those who cant see how skilled he is, should pack their guitar if they have any, cause they will certainly never be informed in the instrument. - or perhaps in music generally. Btw, take a look at those musicians in the background, first time they get to truly rock out!
