Being part of this was easily one of the best moments of my life as well! I am thankful every day for the opportunity to come back and be a part of this amazing performance. Sharing the risers with each of these guys is something special and I will never forget this moment!
Ryan, did I understand correctly that you took part in this amazing performance? I am a graduate student from Kharkov, Ukraine. now studying barbershop music. please tell me, barbershop music is both a choir and a vocal ensemble? unfortunately, the Internet does not always help in finding the truth) sorry if I bothered you in vain) I admire this sound! it's great!
my thought exactly....dude pulled it out and saved the day. it would have been ridiculously obvious if he did a face plant center stage. Those boys were ON in this performance. wow
That's the first time a performance has ever blown me away to the point where my heart literally stopped for a moment. Without a doubt, this will go down as my favorite chorus set on the International stage.
Salt Lake City is at about 4,200 feet above sea level. With all the jumping around and what not. it's a wonder they didn't have to cart a few of them off with oxygen masks. ESPECIALLY since Westminster, Ca. is at about sea level. Well done, folks. Well done indeed.
The rehearsals leading up to this, there were moments where the front row was literally gasping for air lying on the floor, the air was so dry too, I felt like I couldnt get enough air!
Can attest to this. When our chorus started rehearsing in SLC, I was winded after the first runthrough, each time. Somehow a little better for the ones after that.
After seeing a performance like this, I feel like the bar has officially been set higher than it's ever been. I love watching barbershop performances. With a lot of them, they can make you feel the emotion they are trying to get across with their song. With this performance, they enveloped you in it. I've never been so pumped watching a video from the Harmony Society until now. Way to kick ass Westminster!!!!
Well, that might explain why, on 3/10/2020, they have 241,333 views but only 3850 likes. Seriously, RUclips, get with the program. Only allowing one like for a masterpiece like this doesn't reflect the will of the viewership. And I listen to this (or the post-metal version) at least three times per week.
I know there are other versions of From Now On but this is hands down the best of them. This is all live, no editing, no auto tune, no do overs or retakes. Everything you see and hear is authentic and the end result of hundred of hours of hard work. These young men aren’t professional choreographers but you wouldn’t tell the difference. They are just like you and I who love this art form with a passion.
@Westminsterchorus Dudes - THIS IS ONE OF IF NOT THE SINGLE MOAT DOPEST THINGS I HAVE EVER SEEN!!!!! Not surprised at all but at the same time EXTREMELY SURPRISED AT HOW SICK THAT WAS!!!!!!! #mynewringtone
I get a good giggle imagining someone listening to an epic 7 minute barbershop chorus performance every time someone calls them. Everyone else in the room: "You gonna answer that or...?" Jesse: "Just 6 more minutes."
Had the opportunity and privilege to be there in person - words cannot adequately describe the efforts, talents, and performance nor the the audience reaction to this very artistic presentation. At the end, the audience just exploded- just a very special performance for everyone in attendance. And the winner was.... no doubt about it.
Simply the best performance I have witnessed in the 31 years I have been a Barbershopper!! Westminster has yet again changed the game and set the bar higher than ever. Way to go guys!! Thank you for this unforgettable performance. You all deserved the best score ever and Justin, YOU ARE THE MAN!! :-)
Can this please get more attention omg it's such a good arrangement and the harmonies are so on point and the performance the lads put into it was just amazing
This was the only performance that could have possibly scored higher than AoH. AoH was amazing. This was... something better than amazing for which a word has not yet been invented.
That was absolutely the greatest mashup I have ever heard. All of their music was very well written. Their capabilities and talents in what they have as a group is incredible. I listened to this twice the first time I heard it. It was just playing and came up in my suggestions. The choreography was incredible. The sound and expression that you guys bring to the stage is not an easy one to achieve. I absolutely loved it! Great song!
My breath is actually coming in gasps--I breathe/hold/breathe/hold.... I'm absolutely flabbergasted and am having to convince myself that this is real.
This came across my reddit feed first thing in the morning today and I got chills and teared up, simultaneously! OUTSTANDING showmanship! For those of us who are and have been obsessed with TGS, to see two of the most vivid, striking songs be given such a treatment is... a true gift. The talent necessary to arrange this, choreograph it, and then perform it? WHO ARE THESE PEOPLE? I LOVE YOU! I've shared it all over the place and it deserves every accolade, and more. WOW. JUST WOW.
This won BHS' international chorus contest in 2019 with a record score for both the song itself (98.6) and the overall average (97.9). Westminster also won the contest this year.
Wow! As a singing member of the 1987 Intnl Chorus champs, all I can say is that the competition has ratcheted up to an amazing level. I don't think that we would even be able to break into the top 10 with our 1987 performance......today! What a great representative for the barbershop society.
Alia Ebbert Note that the following analysis is subjective. 1. In the context of the song, the "anthem" symbolizes the voice in your head that drives you and motivates you to change your life's direction (specifically, focusing on loved ones rather than on fame and fortune). The common note (F in the bass) between the two chords on the word "Anthem", in my opinion, mirrors the steadfast and unshakable attitude that the lyrics express. From now on, nothing will get in the way of my loved ones. From now on, nothing will get in the way of the note F. 2. The whole song (From Now On) is about a realization - realizing what's really important. The movement between an F chord to an Eb chord (more generally, from a V chord to IV chord) mirrors this sudden realization. You expect the F7 chord to change to a Bb chord (think circle of fifths). But it changes instead to the next step in the circle - the Eb chord. From now on, I'm going to live my life differently. From now on, I'm not going to be blinded by the light. I'm not going to be blinded by the circle of fifths. I move my life (and my chords) in the direction that I want to move them! I have no idea if this is what Dale intended. But I guarantee that the change from F7 to Eb/F was deliberate and NOT arbitrary! 😀
Lmfaooo🤣😂 that intro man!! Jeewiz!! Wow... just wow!! Key changes without any musical instruments? Lmfaooo I'm laughing cause you guys are brilliant 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
Great performance … should have scored many 100s in that category. Singing … several dropped phrase endings, posts flat lining with no growth, they fix that and they'll score better. Still, a wonderful performance!
Yes, they should have launched him right at the judges! Haaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa ha haaa! This comment made my year already. I can now skip the rest of the days of the year and begin 2020 contented.
5 years ago I was there. Still the greatest group performance ever. How they got so many men with different lives and personalities become so united and make it there on stage was unbelievable.
Ummm.... Ho-lee 'SHOP!!!!!!!!!!! What an unreal, phenomenal performance - literally sounded like it was done in a big studio, not onstage, under the lights, in front of hundreds of spectators/fellow singers. Hats off to the incredible passion and unity of you brothers! #harmonycomealive
Being part of this was easily one of the best (if not the best) moments of my life. Honored to share the risers with each and every one of you.
Ryan Collins That was amazing . I hope to come to California and see y’all . Being over 2,000 miles away can be hard

I admire this sound! it's great!
He did a goddamn backflip, just missed the landing, and somehow caught himself in rhythm!
First he was tossed 15 feet in the air and then did a back flip. Hope he is getting his sky miles.
Legend says that he meant to do that.
Skyler I just don’t get it
I can't imagine how hard it was to even attempt one in DRESS SHOES!!!
LONGEST STANDING OVATION EVER. WELL DESERVED. I CRIED.
Shout out to the guy at 6:23 who almost eats it after his backflip but saves it
that was the same guy from 6:13
@@Cl0uddStrife geez, a backflip not 10 seconds after being launched into the air-while singing, too. big props to him

Are you referring to "Seize the Day" or "South Rampart Street Parade"?

My choir teacher was a part of this, and he showed it to us on the first day of school. I’ve never been more blown away by a performance in my life.

I swear to god, Westministers tenors are not freaking human!
had the privilege to be taught choral music for four years under mr. miller/the conductor of westminster chorus. watching this brings back memories❤️
Justin is an absolute legend
3:10-3:16 i just melted!!!
No auto tune - no instruments- what singing!!
BEST SONG IN THE WORLD!!!!!!!!!! I felt alive while performing this song
Absolutely phenomenal - it was a privilege to see it live. Massive congratulations, Westminster Chorus!
Thank you TNL! We love you guys!
Aw, this is so wholesome.
Um is anyone hearing the "woo!" from the audience on a perfectly tuned A6 at 6:15-6:16? Only at BHS competitions does the audience cheer in the key...
That was my soprano girlfriend in the audience 😂
Holy socks what a performance. Westminster earned their championship this year with a stunning display of musicianship. I am gobsmacked.
Dave Luttinen - “Holy socks...” Yes. Holy socks indeed, my friend.
I love the word gobsmacked, I am proud of your vocab choice.
Wow... that was awesome! I can’t imagine how many hours of rehearsal that took, nor can I imagine how many hilarious mishaps happened during them.
Victor Mandala did you see the awkward landing on the guy flipping at 6:25
I'd have to wager that, while there were mishaps, perhaps none could be classified as 'hilarious'.
I can’t believe I actually got to sing with the guys when they came to my school!!!

God, that moment when that chord hits at 6:35... what an incredible performance to go down in BHS history.
They are The Greatest Showmen'.......amazing performance!
I love seeing the diversity of this group and so many young people! Amazing!
A new BHS record. And I was privileged enough to see it live on the stage. Phenomenal!

Wow... that choreography though!!!
Unbelievable performance. I don't understand why some people gave it the "thumbs down".
Do people have a certain video that they just have to go back and watch again every few weeks or so. For me, this is that video.
Doesn't matter how many times I watch this, I'm always blubbing by the end. What a privilege it must have been to be up there. Amazing.

"There's no way you can apply text painting to the word 'Anthem'"

Saw them perform live two weeks ago in LA--stunning performance and well-deserved win. Congratulations Westminster Chorus!
this song not scoring >99%? They should have launched that guy at 6:13 straight into the SNG judges
Just a couple of things... a voice sticks out at 3:10, and the chord 6:35-6:36 was a tad rough.

What a wonderful performance! 😲😲😲😍
