That’s pretty awesome and classy if you ask me.
Jeremy was being considered for Zac Efron’s role and sang his songs also. He spent a lot of his own money to be there at the auditions and read throughs etc, but then Zac Efron was cast and he wasn’t even told until it became public knowledge I believe Amy Lovatt did a video about it (and other broadway scandals) as he told the story on his tour

Seeing this all for the first time. Honestly I have to say… if Hugh didn’t step in… maybe the show isn’t made. Maybe all those people lose that work. My family and I love this movie. I am happy it was produced. I am not going to linchpin it on Jermey. It’s the industry that did it. Not a fan boy of Hugh, but it was a moment in that room. It’s the sale that was, because the VIP in that room, showed way he was the showman.

I can’t watch this without a bitter taste being left in my mouth. Jeremy was literally the only reason the movie was green lit. He bought his own ticket, sang all of Hugh’s songs (except this one) with very short notice, was very sick and his redemption moment was essentially taken away from him. He did everything he could for this movie and wasn’t even credited. He’s an amazing guy and he deserved so much better.

Knowing what I know about this, and what happened with Jeremy, I find it incredibly gracious of him to recognize that Hugh wanted to sing and to step off and join the ensemble despite the fact that he’d really been hoping this song would be his chance to redeem himself after losing his voice on Rewrite the Stars. He even seems to be demonstrating a generally positive and professional attitude during the rest of the song. I won’t hold anything against Hugh necessarily, because it is his movie, but the fact that Jeremy’s contributions to the film went uncredited does bother me. At the very least they should’ve had his name in the credits under “special thanks to” or whatever. He recorded the demo songs and paid for his own plane ticket to fly in and help them out by singing both Barnum and Philip’s roles that day even while he was sick and he didn’t even get his name in the credits. That upsets me more than the casting thing because I feel like it’s just basic courtesy to say thank you to someone who helps out
I know, right? The thing that makes me mad the most was he was not even acknowledged in the credits. Hugh steps in despite his recent surgery and suddenly becomes the hero of this whole thing. Jeremy pats him on the back at the end and receives nothing back, unlike Keala who got hugged. Man, these people are playing it like PT Barnum, using people for their own gain. Then soon they'll probably turn off comments in this video like in the others. So now people won't even get to know the truth. I'm so mad.
Even though Barnum was Hughs role in the first place, and Jeremy was aiming for Phillip? They did him dirty on the casting, but you dont need to act like Hugh did anything wrong singing a part for his own character, especially considering it was the last song and the last chance to join in singing on this particular day, he probably didn't even realise what you get to see in hindsight, because he was in amongst all the emotion and hype. honestly Jeremy Jordan should have been in the movie. The fact that he was not makes me so sad I mean he recorded the demos and like omg. Not only did Jeremy sing all of Zac and Hugh's parts and then graciously step aside at the end without compensation or consideration for the role but they don't even mention him by name. They just refer to him as that singer or whatever. AT LEAST THANK HIM AND SAY HIS NAME!!!!
Huge shoutout to Jeremy for being this supportive especially during the chorus while he was actually kind of disappointed that he didn’t get his moment. I’m very happy for Hugh that he got to sing his song and he did extremely well, but I just gotta appreciate Jeremy’s energy here. A total gem.

This was my favorite movie. It WAS. Until I found out that Jeremy could have gotten the part and DIDN’T while he SOULD HAVE!!! I feel so incredibly sorry for him. Like, Zac was good, but Jeremy would have been incredible.

Today was the first time that i put together that Cynthia Erivo is wailing all of them. You go girl, backing spicy vocalist to powerhouse lead mega star. You earned it! They’re really praising Hugh Jackman for singing one bit - when he wasnt supposed to and ripped his stitches, instead of Jeremy Jordan who had to sing the whole musical while sick and found out in the plane ride there, and paid for everything himself and didn’t even get the role and wasn’t compensated. It takes away any magic and just looks so shady
He was never an option for the role. It was obvious that if the movie was made the role was going to be casted by a more popular actor. And all the actors came to the reading as a favor to Paul and Pasek. At that juncture movie was not greenlit so there was no budget. They certainly didn't have the money to have some one like Caroline Bowman basically come read for Jenny (not really that big of a role).

He sang Zac Efron‘s part and Hugh Jackman‘s part (Hugh’s last minute) while being incredibly sick himself, he bought his own plane ticket to NYC and back to LA because they didn‘t have the fundings for that. He sings "Rewrite the stars" and his voice gives out on the high notes because of his cold and so he said he wants for "From now on" to be this incredible redemption moment because he was crushed for not being 100 percent on the other song. And yet he stepped back when Hugh started singing and gave Hugh the moment he had hoped to be for himself. He was considered for the role of Philipp (Zac wasn‘t cast yet) and just before he leaves, he hears that Zac Efron got the part.
Jeremy Jordan should have been offered a part and he certainly should have received acknowledgment for all that he did in helping to get things rolling. People are just starting to hear the story years later. ❤️ Jeremy Jordan!!

He really wanted a role in this musical and he knew that there was a high note at the end of From Now On that wasn’t out of his range at that moment that he’d be able to nail. But he was never able to sing it and redeem himself because Jackman went against medical advice and started singing instead.

I’ve been through 3 stages with these videos. 1) loving them. 2) mixed emotions after hearing Jeremy Jordan’s experience and Hugh not even remembering his name. And now 3) just coming back to watch Cynthia Erivo sing and dance along as much as I can. Her joy in these videos has always been infectious even before I knew who she was.
Yes I love Jeremy’s story about this day and acknowledge his huge sacrifice to make that day happen. At the same time, Hugh had been working for YEARS to bring this project to light. Can’t blame the man for wanting to step in and bring it home, cancer be damned.

Did anyone pick up the double meaning at about 2:40 when he points at the cast and sings the line “but when I stop and see you here, I remember who all this was for”? It seemed to me like Jackman may have been talking/thinking about his sacrifice in singing with 80 nasal stitches against medical advice because his star power was essential to getting the movie greenlighted. The way he points at the cast at that particular line just made me think “I’m singing now because this project is so important to the whole team”. Also, if he wasn’t planning to sing and sounded like that coming in cold, I’m even more jealous of his instrument then I ever was!!! And I agree that Jeremy showed some real class in being supportive of Jackman taking over unexpectedly. It almost feels like Jackman got caught up in the power and energy of the moment which shows not only the the dedication of these talented performers, but the passion they have for their craft as well. An amazing cast, soundtrack, story, team of choreographers, and crew. So incredibly well done!!! Just phenomenal!!!

Everyone in that room is energised and excited to be there, proud of their performance. Why so many negative comments? The movie was made for Hugh to lead, Jeremy had an amazing attitude and showed great professionalism, but Hugh was the one for the role. Celebrate that rather than being so negative.
Yeahh... this entire moment seemed sooo uplifting, victorious and sentimental UNTIL I heard the other side of the story from Jeremy Jordan... You know... the guy who flew there on his own expense because he was notified last minute... The guy who sang all the songs Hugh was supposed to sing AND all of Philip's songs... The guy who auditioned for the role of Philip and was made to believe he got the part only to ovehear someone discussing how they casted Zac Efron for it... The guy who delivered this level of professionalism both in his singing and attitude... Seeing this all for the first time. Honestly I have to say… if Hugh didn’t step in… maybe the show isn’t made. Maybe all those people lose that work. My family and I love this movie. I am happy it was produced. I am not going to linchpin it on Jermey. It’s the industry that did it. Not a fan boy of Hugh, but it was a moment in that room. I can’t watch this without a bitter taste being left in my mouth. Jeremy was literally the only reason the movie was green lit. He bought his own ticket, sang all of Hugh’s songs (except this one) with very short notice, was very sick and his redemption moment was essentially taken away from him. He did everything he could for this movie and wasn’t even credited. He’s an amazing guy and he deserved so much better.

Knowing what I know about this, and what happened with Jeremy, I find it incredibly gracious of him to recognize that Hugh wanted to sing and to step off and join the ensemble despite the fact that he’d really been hoping this song would be his chance to redeem himself after losing his voice on Rewrite the Stars. He even seems to be demonstrating a generally positive and professional attitude during the rest of the song. I won’t hold anything against Hugh necessarily, because it is his movie, but the fact that Jeremy’s contributions to the film went uncredited does bother me. At the very least they should’ve had his name in the credits under “special thanks to” or whatever. He recorded the demo songs and paid for his own plane ticket to fly in and help them out by singing both Barnum and Philip’s roles that day even while he was sick and he didn’t even get his name in the credits. That upsets me more than the casting thing because I feel like it’s just basic courtesy to say thank you to someone who helps out
I know, right? The thing that makes me mad the most was he was not even acknowledged in the credits. Hugh steps in despite his recent surgery and suddenly becomes the hero of this whole thing. They did him dirty on the casting, but you dont need to act like Hugh did anything wrong singing a part for his own character, especially considering it was the last song and the last chance to join in singing on this particular day, he probably didn't even realise what you get to see in hindsight, because he was in amongst all the emotion and hype. He was never an option for the role. It was obvious that if the movie was made the role was going to be casted by a more popular actor. And all the actors came to the reading as a favor to Paul and Pasek. At that juncture movie was not greenlit so there was no budget. They certainly didn't have the money to have some one like Caroline Bowman basically come read for Jenny (not really that big of a role).

He sings "Rewrite the stars" and his voice gives out on the high notes because of his cold and so he said he wants for "From now on" to be this incredible redemption moment because he was crushed for not being 100 percent on the other song. And yet he stepped back when Hugh started singing and gave Hugh the moment he had hoped to be for himself. He was considered for the role of Philipp (Zac wasn‘t cast yet) and just before he leaves, he hears that Zac Efron got the part.

He really wanted a role in this musical and he knew that there was a high note at the end of From Now On that wasn’t out of his range at that moment that he’d be able to nail. But he was never able to sing it and redeem himself because Jackman went against medical advice and started singing instead.

This song, had he sung the whole thing flawlessly, would've been his redemption, to prove that he CAN sing right, and would be in this film, and even that was taken from him. Back 7 years ago, I thought it was amazing that Hugh got to sing his song, despite his surgery, now to know that he sang, knowing Jeremy wanted to prove himself, and didn't give him that chance, kills me. I’ve been through 3 stages with these videos. 1) loving them. 2) mixed emotions after hearing Jeremy Jordan’s experience and Hugh not even remembering his name. And now 3) just coming back to watch Cynthia Erivo sing and dance along as much as I can. Her joy in these videos has always been infectious even before I knew who she was.
Yes I love Jeremy’s story about this day and acknowledge his huge sacrifice to make that day happen. At the same time, Hugh had been working for YEARS to bring this project to light. Can’t blame the man for wanting to step in and bring it home, cancer be damned.

Did anyone pick up the double meaning at about 2:40 when he points at the cast and sings the line “but when I stop and see you here, I remember who all this was for”? It seemed to me like Jackman may have been talking/thinking about his sacrifice in singing with 80 nasal stitches against medical advice because his star power was essential to getting the movie greenlighted. The way he points at the cast at that particular line just made me think “I’m singing now because this project is so important to the whole team”. Also, if he wasn’t planning to sing and sounded like that coming in cold, I’m even more jealous of his instrument then I ever was!!! And I agree that Jeremy showed some real class in being supportive of Jackman taking over unexpectedly. It almost feels like Jackman got caught up in the power and energy of the moment which shows not only the the dedication of these talented performers, but the passion they have for their craft as well. An amazing cast, soundtrack, story, team of choreographers, and crew. So incredibly well done!!! Just phenomenal!!!

Everyone in that room is energised and excited to be there, proud of their performance. Why so many negative comments? The movie was made for Hugh to lead, Jeremy had an amazing attitude and showed great professionalism, but Hugh was the one for the role. Celebrate that rather than being so negative.

Yeahh... this entire moment seemed sooo uplifting, victorious and sentimental UNTIL I heard the other side of the story from Jeremy Jordan...
You know... the guy who flew there on his own expense because he was notified last minute...

After seeing all the comments I went to read about Jeremy's involvement in the show and it really makes me sad... Jeremy would have done amazing in this movie, he's such a good sport about the whole thing but he deserves better treatment... shoutout to you, Jeremy, you're an absolute treasure 💙
Poor Jeremy. Let us all take a moment and acknowledge him for a minute. My guy flew all the way out here (with his own ticket) after being sick and taking a steroid (which he didn’t want to do) just to do this show. Also, he ended up messing us rewrite the stars because he was sick but he’s being a good sport and letting hugh sing on 👏.

I'm a huge fan of the composers, the songs, the production, and the actors but ever since i couldn't quite vibe with the movie itself. I’m so crushed right now reading all the comments. I have been watching the other video where the comments are blocked for YEARS and it’s been like my go to video if I wanted a mood lift. I even noticed that one shot of Jeremy, where he looks a bit sad, and always kinda thought like he should get over himself and shouldn’t be so jealous just because he couldn’t sing ONE song. But now reading all the comments and seeing that video of Jeremy, I’m so sad. Like it totally changed my perspective and I’m so mad that they don’t even mention Jeremy ANYWHERE and just block the comments so everyone thinks it’s this great hero move from Hugh.
Don’t get me wrong, it was a great move because it probably saved the movie. I actually believe that Hugh thought that maybe Jeremy won’t be able to reach the high notes which would have been a shame. And I’m also not that mad about the recasting in general because that happens all the time. Talent is not important in Hollywood.
But still, it’s shit. Like, it really feels like Hugh just hogs all the limelight and doesn’t want Jeremy to be part of the movie. He’s never mentioned anywhere and no other videos of that press conference (or how you call it) where Jeremy sings are published, like wtf. He literally sang the entire soundtrack while sick and doesn’t get any credit for it….
Sorry for the rant, but I’m just so mad because I never knew and I’m sure sooo many people still don’t know because there are no comments on the more popular video. I just can’t get over it right now, this whole situation makes me so mad. They could’ve at least said in the beginning something like: “Yeah I couldn’t sing because of my nose so this incredible singer Jeremy Jordan, who unfortunately was a bit sick on the day, sang all the parts for me while I acted them out. Until I couldn’t help myself anymore, because the song’s so great….”. Like that would have been a lot better, still would’ve sucked for Jeremy and his “redemption” but not as much.
