@@scottvrichey Yes, "Never Enough" that was actually sung by Loren Allred. The BluRay commentary talks about it. Allred was hired as a stand-in, just like Jeremy was, and actress Rebecca Ferguson was supposed to sing it in the movie. After hearing Allred though, she told the director, "I can sing, but not like that!" and suggested that she lipsync to Allred's vocals. So the two spent weeks together, with Ferguson copying every mannerism down to the veins on Allred's neck. She did an incredible job. The good thing about this story is that Ferguson didn't put her own ego above what's good for the movie. She realized Allred is a much better singer and was willing to put in the extra work required to lipsync. Because of Ferguson and the director, Allred's career was launched.

@@justlittleolme7977well and emotionally you have to think from Jackman’s perspective: **Finally! My love and passion for musical theater can be fully embraced and expressed! I’m not just “Wolverine” to people, anymore!** Them he suddenly can’t sing for health reasons, making the movie production extremely difficult to gage (for both actor and singer) and then suddenly- out of nowhere, Jackman can sing again! He can sing for his movie! He wasn’t disappointed after all that he couldn’t TRULY take part in his role. But yes, the Efron ting does sting, I will admit. Just keep in mind the other perspective, here. I think that’s a big part of why Jeremy was so professional about the whole situation. What a considerate, empathetic, and thoughtful young man! 😊
These are both such great perspectives. And also a reminder of just how brutal the entertainment industry is. Everyone has a story and something they want so badly. But even the tremendous amount of deserved success that Jeremy has had is something a hundred others have given every bit of their heart into pursuing, and come up short. That’s why I appreciated this RUclips video so much as a reminder of all the people who yearn to tell stories. Edited to add: did the producers of the film really make him fly himself out on his own dime to perform in this demo for free? I know many people would absolutely still kill for that opportunity (including the nameless other people in the room), so I get anyone saying yes.
@@isaacmcallister5649 Give me a break! "I'm not just Wolverine" wasn't Hugh Jackman's "perspective." Everyone was already aware of Jackman's passion for musical theater. He had already starred in the movie version of Les Miserables and won a Tony Award for his performance in the Broadway musical The Boy from Oz by this point. Additionally Jackman wasn't suddenly unable to sing for health reasons. He was instructed not to sing because he had surgery on his nose and the Doctor didn't want him to rip out the stitches. Let's be very clear Jackman chose not to sing and had Jeremy do all the heavy lifting for him. Then at the very end Jackman totally cut Jeremy off and started singing the final song so he could be the hero. Anyway you slice it Jackman was a jerk in this scenario.

He's an already pretty big name in broadway. Its just that its not mainstream that ppl overlook him and all the other amazing actors from live theatre. Sad.

Saw Jeremy Jordan in NEWSIES in NYC and recently at his concert in Provincetown, MA. What a voice! What a vocal range! He also interacts beautifully with his audience with storytelling. Very charismatic!
He should take it to Broadway, and star in it! So many people would pay to see this on Broadway, and Jeremy is so spectacular. I know it costs a lot to put a show on, but I feel like it could work.
@@vickiemodica425 Are you talking about Barnum? It's not the same music. With this music, the movie came first even though it was originally developed as a Broadway show. Now it's finally on stage.
I would honestly be all for a remake with the exact same frame by frame film except with Jeremy as Philip! Honestly Zac Efron was great, but Jeremy was definitely robbed and would’ve been an equally great choice ❤
I feel so bad for this guy. They should have given him a major part in the movie when he helped get the approval to go ahead not to mention can sing all the songs so well.
Oh my lord Jermey 😭 Noooooo whyyyyyyy. I would watch a remake of this with our boy. Zac did a fantastic job but I can't help but feel now like I've been robbed. All the same, what a hero. We see you and we appreciate your sacrifice, Jeremy!
Yep totally agree that Jeremy saved the day when others couldn't & after all he put himself through to do that, he should've been offered the part no matter who Hugh wanted to cast. I hope Jeremy can see these comments because I want to tell him, he has a magnificent voice, is a brilliant actor & I've loved everything he has performed in.... Thank you, Jeremy, for your help with this movie. I was a part of the greatest show on earth before they closed in 2017. You showed us that you're circus strong. This movie holds a special place in my heart. ❤❤❤
I discovered about this a year ago-ish. I felt awful that Jeremy didn't get a significant role. Like you said, he saved the show. The show would've never been green lit. And they just forgot about him after that performance. I really wished he had been casted for Philip.
It’s infuriating that after all that…AFTER ALL THAT…they chose big name stars…and didn’t give Jeremy the recognition he so dearly deserved. It’s so so frustrating
So manybehind the scenes, unsung heros ... thank you for bringing Jeremy's contribution to light, so we can support him in his future endeavors that he so deserves ❤
I have watched that video (from The Greatest Showman) dozens of times. His performance, before Hugh Jackman came in, is one of my favorites... over all of the original cast.
This is making him out to be some small time actor who almost had his big shot… Jeremy Jordan is like the biggest name on Broadway and is like the best ever
But he's not widely known outside of the theatre world. When you're makijg a multi million dollar film, name recognition is important to insure ticket sales... On that note, I'm in Los Angeles, not known fot being a theater mecca. Sometimes when shows tour here, they bring in "pop" Hollywood or TV actors as cast to entice potential theatre goers to attend.
Totally stolen from Jeremy Jordon who absolutely saved the day in his run through (he even paid for his plane ticket to get there AND was sick) still sings better than Zac Efron. He was used badly.
As interesting of a story this seems, it’s pretty common when it comes to musicals and whether it’s for stage or screen where they have people do the workshop for it and then they cast someone else for the official production. One of the biggest ones of that happening was wicked where they recast elphaba after the workshop to be played by idina menzel
It would have been an amazing film with him in that lead role, Zack is a good actor but this man is humble and that is the reason he is so loved by many. We are all in some form of competition, it can break you when your cast aside but true warriors don’t get held back they overcome and move forward. What a story to tell, one not made by Disney or Hollywood but one that will be a lesson for his children!
Omg I never knew! It matters to ME that people should know. You were amazing for doing what you did. I will share this story every time talk of this movie comes up. Respect!
Thanks for the video, I have seen that huge jackman clip singing for the movie green light and noticed Jeremy in the video, didnt know who he was but always wanted to find out, now I know why I wanted to find out the backstory.
YES JEREMY JORDAN SAY HIS NAME. I have been telling this story for years. I have little respect remaining for Hugh Jackman after that. Jeremy is outstanding in every thing acting and music. They stole his moment.
Why should Hugh not have sung there? He didn't know that Jeremy was counting on it as a redemption moment - he's a big-time Broadway actor. This was a musical that Hugh had been involved with for a long time and it was killing him not to be able to do what had always been HIS role. He was the reason the potential investors were there. He feels a deep connection to the song. And did the composers even tell Hugh they had promised the role to Jeremy? Hugh wasn't one of the producers. He wasn't responsible for casting. Why is he taking the blame for doing something that he was there to do?
The killing side of showbusiness. When you found out the truth behind in a one of the most inspirational uplifting movie is also the movie that deprive someone's ability to really showcase their talent. Too sad...
Ah. I recognized him. It must have been crushing but it's ok man. That you helped get approved makes thousands of people happy to this day. The greatest showman is in my top 3 musicals of all time. I learnt every song and some of them help me through difficult times. From now on is my absolute favorite. Thank you for your contribution 🙏🏾.
I love Jeremy Jordan since "Smash"! I fell in love with her voice, her charisma and her duets with Katharine McPhee were so amazing ❤ The Greatest Showman is one of my favorite movies for its actors (Hugh Jackman 🙏) but for all of its songs and "From now on" is a good example of what makes the movie so powerful. Thank goodness Jeremy Jordan was there to work a miracle and give us a wonderful movie 💖🤩💫 He deserves more recognition worldwide!👍
He is also Varian in the Tangled Series on Disney plus and, imo, it’s one of his best roles. That cast is truly top tier anyway but he is just so good at whatever he does!
Here is the thing, this situation shows what a nice guy Jeremy is. But if they ain't gonna fly you, and no contract for the role...hard pass. I know it sounds like an opportunity but has this paid off for Jeremy for the composers putting him in anything? Grrr. I'm glad we can hear Jeremy's vocals, cause he is amazing and talented but I despise when people are asked to work for free/exposure. Just completely unfair.
I was so blown away by this young man. I wondered where this amazing talent came from and why didn’t we see more of him. Watching this back story where Hugh was the hero. Thank you for showcasing his talent once again. Hollywood is a fickle place. Regardless it will never diminish your talent. Hoping you embrace who you are. Brilliance 🎉 Off on another gripe. The movie Australia where the young Brandon Walter’s played Nullah. This charismatic young 12 year old was the movie. A natural. They paid him a lousy $100K.
It’s so crazy how Jeremy is the only Actor ever to make a sacrifice for a project opportunity and get beat out by a bigger name. I’m sure he didn’t beat anyone out for his roles who sacrificed and worked for them.
@@SuperPianogirl123 I was dragged… kicking and screaming because of that very same reason. Boy did I eat humble pie. The film is truly spectacular and it pains me to have to admit it. You really should give it a try with an open mind. It will rock your life.
Jeremy was subbing for Hugh Jackman at a producers' demo and I doubt if TGS would have been made if it weren't for the fact that Mr. Jackman, who was told not to perform because of surgery, stepped in at the last minute.
Phenomenal voice...glad to know a back story behind the "behind the scenes." THIS is my favorite song from this movie and the "behind the scenes" brought me to tears because I thought of the love and need in that room for everyone to shine...didn't know the limelight was stolen. Gives a different perspective but he still sings it better
I always wondered who that young man was, this was very interesting! Good to see him talk about it in such a light hearted way too, it must have been very disappointing to not get the part of Philip Carlyle after all that work and paying to go out there himself! He has a great voice and seems like a very decent human, and has an amazing voice, I hope he gets great success in the future.
Me too. And I was always touched by his professionalism, the way he stepped back and didn't fight for the solo. While it must have been crushing at the time, especially as he was sick and couldn't hit the top notes for Rewrite the Stars, and was hoping to redeem himself.
I knew he could sing because several times during its run, Supergirl had musical numbers, including an entire episode, and both Jeremy and Melissa Benoist, who were former musical stars from other shows, were the featured voices every time. Personally, I would have loved to see him play Philip Carlysle in this movie. Zac Efron gets enough parts--just once, I'd like to see Jeremy get the recognition he deserves for his musical chops as much as for his acting chops.
Jeremy Jordan is an amazing actor and singer. He was smart enough to bail on Supergirl before it tanked and I agree with the comment that he is criminally underrated.
Man, this guy is amazing! I watched the video of Hugh taking over and singing this song and I was pretty much sobbing at the end. Hugh was engaging and I felt his emotion in the lyrics and it was moving. That led me to this video and I am disappointed that this guy did not get the part he wanted!!!! I have not seen the movie and I'm not a big Zach Efron fan.....I mean if he's starring or playing a role in anything it doesn't sway me to watch the movie either way. After seeing this....if Jeremy Jordan is going to be in a movie......this will sway my mind to watch it for certain!!!
Jeremy Jordan is completely and utterly fantastic! I would love to see him in person. Hugh Jackman knew his talent too. Methinks he could have been kinder.
a literal unsung hero. the substitute made of hot glue and toothpicks to keep the project afloat long enough for hugh jackman to steal the show, and the project move forward with other stars. o7 i will probably always remember you as he who stood there so that the greatest showman could become reality.
I always wondered what was up with all the people in the workshop who gave so much of themselves in that performance but then didn’t make it into the movie. Thanks for sharing this story! It’s too bad that the entertainment industry is so brutal, that you can give everything and not get the thing you want.
"And though he may not receieve the recognition that he so rightfully deserves" He will now Because he's now the man who sung "More than Anything" in Hazbin Hotel As Lucifer Morningstar The ringleader of hell
His story happens a lot when great and talented people get looked over for someone who has the star power. I honestly wish there was a movie about this, I think it’d be a great representation of musical theater treatment in the bright lights world of hollywood. Idk if I’d want it to end happier or at least with the hope of something more for the character but i would definitely title it ‘the Greatest showman’ as reference to his story.

He is brilliant! 🎼🎵🎶🎤🥰
@@isaacmcallister5649Absolutely agree. It would’ve been hugely emotional for Hugh too.
Jeremy was completely screwed, and he’s a great guy too, didn’t deserve any of it
HES AMAZING
@@XSweetCherryBlossomX it is insanely crazy that you commented this yesterday. I proposed to my girlfriend last night, and Jeremy Jordan was involved. My fiancée loves him. So I got her a couple of personalized playbills from rock of ages, little shop of horrors, and now great Gatsby. I was even able to get him to sign the ring box. He’s a really sweet guy and was happy to help
@@flyingblind5677 oh my gosh! That’s amazing! I think I’d die if I was proposed to like that 😂
@@XSweetCherryBlossomX it was everything I could’ve hoped for
@@flyingblind5677 Props to you for including another man to your proposal 🤣
That demo workshop was STACKED with Broadway tallent! I would love if someone would post the full recording.
you and me both sister, but unfortunately it seems to be stuffed away in the Fox vaults.
It's definitely around & Hugh & Jeremy both have videos about it on their pages
4:12- I saw Loren with her curly hair there.
I think Andrew Keenan-Bolger was there too, I remember seeing him in a video where they workshop Kealas song 'This Is Me'
Wow. I never know there was this kind of story behind a great movie. I wish him the best. I know someday, his time will come and he will shine & be known to everyone. Salute to this man! All I can say is TGS is not for him, he was meant for something else bigger.
He's an already pretty big name in broadway. Its just that its not mainstream that ppl overlook him and all the other amazing actors from live theatre. Sad.
@@TheCanderemy Yes. Theater artist are very underrated.
That was really bad. His singing voice in Rapunzel series already proved that he has such amazing talent. I mean i still get goosebumps from "Let me make you proud" and "Nothing left to lose". I wish they'd give him the recognition he deserves.
It takes real class and humility to do what he did ,truly a class act and the definition of the show must go on
As they say in showbiz, "the part was not yours".
But not matter what, Jeremy is very talented.
He deserves to be recognised for his great work.
Saw Jeremy Jordan in NEWSIES in NYC and recently at his concert in Provincetown, MA. What a voice! What a vocal range! He also interacts beautifully with his audience with storytelling. Very charismatic!
Amazing documentary, thinking about showing this to my film teacher since we watched Greatest Showman in her class
He was robbed sooo hard
we were robbed of the chance to see him as phillip
Yes he was.
If it's not for you then it's not for you. There's a part that belongs to you that will be yours in god's time.
Hopefully he gets to work with it one day on broadway
How was he robbed?? His thanks is knowing he helped save a great movie
He should take it to Broadway, and star in it! So many people would pay to see this on Broadway, and Jeremy is so spectacular. I know it costs a lot to put a show on, but I feel like it could work.
Agreed the music is perfect for Broadway and a circus set design would be so amazing!
The broadway show was first and then the movie!
@@vickiemodica425 Are you talking about Barnum? It's not the same music. With this music, the movie came first even though it was originally developed as a Broadway show. Now it's finally on stage.
@@MKPiatkowski I’m talking about the Greatest Showman, the movie with Hugh Jackman!
@@vickiemodica425 If you're talking Greatest Showman, it was the film first, then the Broadway show was adapted from it.
Jeremy is so incredibly talented, I never get tired of watching him sing, love his voice
I would honestly be all for a remake with the exact same frame by frame film except with Jeremy as Philip! Honestly Zac Efron was great, but Jeremy was definitely robbed and would’ve been an equally great choice ❤
I’ve never heard this story but somehow I immediately that Jeremy was gonna get screwed over.
Jeremy Jordan is an inspiration of moving on and looking forward. Bless him more!
I just wish the rest of the entertainment world could see his prowess!
Thank you, Jeremy, for your help with this movie. I was a part of the greatest show on earth before they closed in 2017. You showed us that you're circus strong. This movie holds a special place in my heart. ❤❤❤
Pastel and Paul owe this man a musical!!! I love Jeremy, one of the biggest talents in the business.
I still and will not forget how telented he is since Newsies.
I wanna review Newsies
This is actually heartbreaking!
Uh oh, I can feel another Jeremy Jordan RUclips rabbit hole approaching. 😬 I get trapped in those ones for hours!
Oh no!
So manybehind the scenes, unsung heros ... thank you for bringing Jeremy's contribution to light, so we can support him in his future endeavors that he so deserves ❤
oh wow i feel for him. at least he's still ok and not down the hollyweird rabbit hole
man, no matter what form I here this story in, it still makes me sad :(
glad this is something finally being talked about. i love jeremy jordan this man never gets the credit he deserves
WHY AM I SOBBING😭
GET THIS MAN HIS OWN SHOW!!!!!!!!
Jeremy is so talented, my favorite I've seen of his is his version of She Used to be Mine.
Oh my god I watched it literally 10 minutes ago and literally started crying.
Totally stolen from Jeremy Jordon who absolutely saved the day in his run through (he even paid for his plane ticket to get there AND was sick) still sings better than Zac Efron. He was used badly.
I would have made them pay for my ticket.
Jeremy is one of my all time favorite singers, from Smash and the musical episode of Supergirl was amazing!
Here’s to hoping if they ever make a greatest showman musical on Broadway, our boy Jeremy is the first one they call to play PT Barnum!
Jeremy did a fantastic job in the movie musical Joyful Noise starring Dolly Parton. First time I ever heard him sing.
Omg I never knew! It matters to ME that people should know. You were amazing for doing what you did. I will share this story every time talk of this movie comes up. Respect!
Amazing Vid.. and now many know.. Jeremy Jordan is the greatest showman.. Glad you made this.
@@MKPiatkowski nah he could take over the song, but not give away the role Jeremy worked on for so long.
The killing side of showbusiness. When you found out the truth behind in a one of the most inspirational uplifting movie is also the movie that deprive someone's ability to really showcase their talent. Too sad...
That's how good the song was, that it called to Hugh Jackman's soul to sing.
I fell in love with her voice, her charisma and her duets with Katharine McPhee were so amazing ❤
The Greatest Showman is one of my favorite movies for its actors (Hugh Jackman 🙏) but for all of its songs and "From now on" is a good example of what makes the movie so powerful.
That’s gutting!!!! I’ve watched the performances so many times and I love him in them!!!
To be fair, Zac Efron probably got the movie an extra 50% viewership than it would have
Jeremy is a wonderful person ❤
Here is the thing, this situation shows what a nice guy Jeremy is. But if they ain't gonna fly you, and no contract for the role...hard pass. I know it sounds like an opportunity but has this paid off for Jeremy for the composers putting him in anything? Grrr. I'm glad we can hear Jeremy's vocals, cause he is amazing and talented but I despise when people are asked to work for free/exposure. Just completely unfair.
He was in Dog Fight wasn’t he?
@@jenniferambrose5603 the off broadway show? the lead was Derek.
Brilliance 🎉
Off on another gripe.
His singing gave me goosebumps ❤
Genuinely haven’t felt the emotions I did listening to him in a long time
See now, if Jeremy had been cast then I might have actually seen the movie.
Yeah, seeing Hugh Jackman’s name on it was the main reason I never watched it
Hugh was great. You missed out on a great show!
Yep same
@@SuperPianogirl123 I was dragged… kicking and screaming because of that very same reason.
Thank you, Jeremy! I adore that movie and the soundtrack. Would love to see you play Phillip in the live Broadway version that NEEDS to happen
He's such a fantastic singer and performer. I really wish he would have played that role :(
I loved Zac in it, but Jeremy is phenomenal! Why didn't they cast him?
Good lord!!! i never knew about this! Man, this is straight up daylight robbery. We need to do Jeremy Jordan justice, y'all.
The Greastest Showman is my favorite movie of all time and I'm so grateful to Jeremy for doing this
Phenomenal voice...glad to know a back story behind the "behind the scenes." THIS is my favorite song from this movie and the "behind the scenes" brought me to tears because I thought of the love and need in that room for everyone to shine...didn't know the limelight was stolen.
Beautiful job Jeremy...as a friend of mineyears ago said about my sisnging...you have "it." Blessings❤x
I remember seeing this clip and getting so excited for the movie, had no idea this was the back story!
Jeremy Jordan is an amazing actor and singer. He was smart enough to bail on Supergirl before it tanked and I agree with the comment that he is criminally underrated.
So much talent. Well done, Jeremy!
His voice is phenomenal!
Wow that voice ❤ and he’s singing live, I am amazed ❤❤ keep doing you Jeremy your the best
He should definitely get his well-deserved credit. He has an amazing voice and is so talented!!! 😢❤
The dude deserved a cut from the movie TBH.
This was fantastic! I love you your voice ! I did love the greatest showman, but you are a dad now! No comparison . I wish you luck you are amazing
Had no idea...omg... Well done mate!!! You are a treasure Jeremy Jordan!!!
He’s awesome, aww.
What I would give to get my hands on Jeremy's demos... This entire story would honestly make for a great movie in and of itself.
Need to save the day by getting Michael Motts musical produced. Jeremy Jordan is fantastic singing in it. IN THE LIGHT needs to be given life.
And Death Note
Thanks for that, had no idea. Brilliant. And thanks, Jeremy!
a literal unsung hero. the substitute made of hot glue and toothpicks to keep the project afloat long enough for hugh jackman to steal the show, and the project move forward with other stars. o7 i will probably always remember you as he who stood there so that the greatest showman could become reality.
I always wondered what was up with all the people in the workshop who gave so much of themselves in that performance but then didn’t make it into the movie. Thanks for sharing this story! It’s too bad that the entertainment industry is so brutal, that you can give everything and not get the thing you want.
Cool background story. I've seen many videos of those "behind the scenes" of making of this great musical. Thanks Jeremy!!
Thank you for saving this beautiful film Jeremy
"And though he may not receieve the recognition that he so rightfully deserves"
He will now
Because he's now the man who sung "More than Anything" in Hazbin Hotel
As Lucifer Morningstar
The ringleader of hell
His story happens a lot when great and talented people get looked over for someone who has the star power.
I honestly wish there was a movie about this, I think it’d be a great representation of musical theater treatment in the bright lights world of hollywood.
Idk if I’d want it to end happier or at least with the hope of something more for the character but i would definitely title it ‘the Greatest showman’ as reference to his story.
As soon as I saw him in that FROM NOW ON video I remembered him from SMASH.
I just love him. I hope his big movie break comes.
That man deserves a special Thanks!!!😊
A special recognition.
😢WOW this made me sad! I love the movie and he would have been great in it.
That was awesome. Love this movie and great story you shared. Thanks
We can only hope we see him on the Broadway stage adaptation, if ever. There is no one better; may he have his full circle moment of redemption.
