how the hell a flock of human beings can scatter-float for 17s a perfectly tuned, unwavering high 3rd at the end of a performance for which most would require resuscitative assistance is beyond me.
To me, this chorus just has the most pristine sound of all. Perfect blend, superb clarity... Westminster just seems to be the pinnacle of Barbershop Chorus singing to me.
atteheikkinen I mean, I'm a baritone (maybe not in the barbershop sense!), and I can barely chest an A if I'm lucky, and these guys nail a high Bflat entry out of nowhere! Incredible to watch, but makes me quite jealous ahaha!!
Incredible. I can't even put it into words, really. Not to mention that first front man was on a whole new level than I have ever seen. His attitude, energy, movement, and expression is honestly a huge inspiration to me. Everything all together though was just explosively amazing. I was IN the Newsies for that 6 minutes.
Unison can do that. I wonder if there are any research papers over the physical sensation that certain chords and overtones can produce in the human body. Even before I was trained music had the ability to create goosebumps.
In Field Day in my Catholic school in Wisconsin, I was in chorus and we sang this. But we practiced previously and the song forever engraved in my head. I love this song
I've listened to this at least a hundred times and shared it with other musicians. I sang in the Lansing Michigan Chorus (Capitol City Chordsmen) back in the early - mid 1990s while still in high school and have never lost my love of barbershop. The overtones on the final chord are just miraculous - gives me goose bumps every time I listen!
Justin and ALL members: As a former member of the VM (1994-97) I think this performance ranks among the best 4 or 5 I've ever heard or performed in. I'm completely blown away.Keep up the great work!!
Thats a heap of musical testosterone! Unfreakinbelievable unisons within each part. Apart from the guy that missed his " FIGHT " entry 😊 So clean and bright. Shimmers like a diamond. Wonderful gentlemen. NEVER tire of listening to this group.
My opinion... But think this will be very difficult to beat ever in terms of a full barbershop package. Tuning. Passion. Chords. Everything. And all done a Disney theme which is can sometimes be a bit cheesy arrangement wise. Pure class all round.
After all the times I have witnessed this immaculate performance, I wind up asking myself the same question: "Was there some moment (besides just before coming on stage) that this impossibly amazing group of men KNEW they had won?"
That is an unbelievable performance. Highly active and pitch-perfect. Kenny Ortega would welcome you with open arms. A fabulous job guys. Very enjoyable. The term I was looking for is "jaw-dropping"!
+The Pilgrimaires - Plymouth Barbershop Harmony Chorus: Heck with amazing barbershop chorus, they are truly an amazing men's chorus. I'd listen to them sing the phone book!!
Wonderfully done - ALL OF YOU - and this from a now "Crow" (Dammit, my voice is gone!!! And I miss singing!!!) Who used to sing (years ago) with the Alexandria Harmonizers...
This is the best performance of a chorus in BBShop history, despite other scores. The first 40 or so bars are the best example of how inflection makes music on a "ballad" building toward an "uptune" I have ever heard. (This chorus has many other examples of that.). As a one time judge, there are a few places to extract a point or two--the talk part on "fight, fight, fight fight fight got OOQ, one chord in the tag was a bit OOQ, and the raucous 2nd half had some imperfections), BUT, AMAZInG: greatest performance in BHS history. Of course, everyone's entitled to their opinion. To me, it is shockingly good -- simply amazing. And, the arrangement didn't hurt :).
The barbershop harmony society should just change their motto to "I never knew I wanted this, but now I want nothing but this."
😂😂😂💯
The entire New Fangledfour Quartet is in here. Plus, the lead from Masterpiece.
I spotted Jake and Ryan but where are the others? Edit: I found them!
The perfect balance between pure technical singing and raw emotion.
true. I have the same felling. just take a deep breath, before you're certain about making an attempt to mimic 100%
Frank Markovich listen to musical theatre
“We stand as one” at 1:56 is SO impactful... gorgeous!
one of the best harmony to unison placements in history
how the hell a flock of human beings can scatter-float for 17s a perfectly tuned, unwavering high 3rd at the end of a performance for which most would require resuscitative assistance is beyond me.
Two words: Joey Bus
Ben Cantrell lmao that made my day, Joey Bus
In other words it was ok
I can relate with my nff lead standing on back tier that’s about the rhythm I have
I like your funny words magic man lol. I have done barbershop and never heard those terms (5 years later but oh well)
Haha well said! Lol
I spot the Newfangled Four!
Ryan Navarro I only see two of them
Nvm found them all
@@Cybernoid200 Wait, Where's Waldo?
So there's Jake and Ryan I only see.
@@izno1996 Jaxt7 is in the back row, 4th from the right
If THIS is where modern barbershop is headed, then I'm completely obsessed.
3:47-3:53 from the basses is absolutely disgustingly good
To me, this chorus just has the most pristine sound of all. Perfect blend, superb clarity... Westminster just seems to be the pinnacle of Barbershop Chorus singing to me.
That bass entry at 3:50 is absolutely insane!! Such a joy to listen/watch this :D
+mackindle12345 Jesus
+mackindle12345 It's so ridiculous :D Like, most lead sections couldn't even do that, let alone basses.
atteheikkinen I mean, I'm a baritone (maybe not in the barbershop sense!), and I can barely chest an A if I'm lucky, and these guys nail a high Bflat entry out of nowhere! Incredible to watch, but makes me quite jealous ahaha!!
I've watched nearly every week since Pitt. It really is incredible. OK…dat unison at 1:55!!!!! Chills
I was about to say the same thing, but you beat me to it!
+Todd Johnson I have replayed this just to hear that unison argh so much yas
Todd Johnso
I'm so proud of my nephew Justin Miller and his amazing Chorus. Enjoy your well earned victory.
If you've sung with Justin, you know you've sung with the greatest!
Incredible. I can't even put it into words, really. Not to mention that first front man was on a whole new level than I have ever seen. Let's bring this kind of performance to every town... it is so amazing.
William Toffey Let's get every town to CREATE this kind of performance and bring it to the world!!!
1:57 for some reason gives me goosebumps
Unison can do that.
I wonder if there are any research papers over the physical sensation that certain chords and overtones can produce in the human body.
Even before I was trained music had the ability to create goosebumps.
In Field Day in my Catholic school in Wisconsin, I was in chorus and we sang this. But we practiced previously and the song forever engraved in my head.
I love this song
This is truly a legendary chorus performance to behold forever.
They used lyrics from both versions. I'm in love.
I've listened to this at least a hundred times and shared it with other musicians. Jon Stanton I am in the capitol city chorus right now and we are working on this song.
Justin and ALL members: As a former member of the VM (1994-97) I think this performance ranks among the best 4 or 5 I've ever heard or performed in. I'm completely blown away.Keep up the great work!!
Ralph Priessman Watched this again several times and have reconsidered: Not one of the best 4 or 5 - THE BEST!!!!!!
+BHS2011able LOL!
1:56 chills...
Fantastic singing, artistry and performance. Awesome stuff from the 2015 champs. Thanks guys!
Never before have I heard an overtone so out there like the ending chords.
Right?? That was two octaves up!!
I'm not sure if I should feel offended on how breathtaking those voices are or not.
This performance - this chorus! - just blows me away!
Still one of my favorites from this group. Cheers!
This might be the most masculine thing I have ever seen in barbershop.
This. Is. Barbershop. Perfection.
i can't stop listening to this! This entire contest was stacked
I didn't know Leonardo DiCapri sang with you guys! AWESOME!! ((lol))
+Ryan H. Turner Where is his Oscar for this performance?!
+Dave Tweats Funny you say that now aye aha
I WAS THINKING THE SAME EXACT THING THE WHOLE TIME LIKE WTF
Thats a heap of musical testosterone! Unfreakinbelievable unisons within each part. Apart from the guy that missed his " FIGHT " entry 😊 So clean and bright. Shimmers like a diamond. Wonderful gentlemen. NEVER tire of listening to this group.
So I've listened to this 20 times in the past 3 days please help me
It is enrapturing, isn't it. It's my favorite. Inflection is like perfect, with a few OOQ moments. But I think its the best ever overall in my view.
Would love see them cover the whole soundtrack for the movie and the Broadway show....
Wow! What a song, arrangement and performance!
My favorite musical; thank you for this 😄
Absolutely incredible.
I feel like I can hear the NF4 singing the loudest
They always do ♥️🥺
That's them!
My opinion... But think this will be very difficult to beat ever in terms of a full barbershop package. Tuning. Passion. Chords. Everything. And all done a Disney theme which is can sometimes be a bit cheesy arrangement wise. Pure class all round.
I still can't believe I was in Pittsburgh to see this in person!!!
Matt Brust What was it like in person
After all the times I have witnessed this immaculate performance, I wind up asking myself the same question: "Was there some moment (besides just before coming on stage) that this impossibly amazing group of men KNEW they had won?"
I've listened to that tag over and over. My goodness the over & undertones are ridiculous. You're just enveloped in sound. Amazing.
Simply wonderful and admirable!!!!! Lots of LOVE to ALL singers and conductor!
This still gives me goosebumps 😭😭❤️❤️
I spy with my little eye The Newfangled Four. Wanna play where's Waldo? 1:58
The director is phenomenal
That is an unbelievable performance. Highly active and pitch-perfect. Kenny Ortega would welcome you with open arms. A fabulous job guys. Very enjoyable. The term I was looking for is "jaw-dropping"!

At 3:48, wow the same singers sing a convincing B2 and a few seconds later an A4. Talent.

Amazing, and powerful.
Also, as an aside, that's a pretty clever logo.
