Maybe. I'll have to see if it's actually a problem in practice. I wash my vehicles to clean them and just keeping this tipped up on end prevents the pooling from happening.

I put a few packs through it before converting this over to the maxxrt and the body held up just fine. It's pretty thick and has a good cage and good support so I suspect it will be reasonably durable
Be nice if you included links to the upgrades you used for this old timer just getting back into RC at 61 yrs old. It makes it easier to blow a crap load of money in a shorter period of time. Thanks for your videos they help a lot. I just got mine yesterday and it's an impressive little machine. I feel like a kid again. I have a Felony build I'm trying to do to get some high speed runs over 100 mph. These things are insanely powerful, I can't believe it sometimes. It's violent power is intense, love having them fly by as close to me as possible to feel the wind as they smoke past you. My wife has an Xmaxx and she ran into herself and knocked herself on her ass. At a distance I said, I hope you're laughing, she wasn't. I find that the ass end pops up and digs the nose in when your flying over the bumps at top speed. Defiantly needing some shock changes. Good times in a crazy world right now.
Yeah even with its downsides it's still a lot of fun. I don't do links to parts because it's a real pain to keep up with links as they go stale and change and I don't want people thinking that I'm making these videos to try and make money through affiliate links cuz I'm not. You should be able to Google anything that I mentioned though and find it pretty easily. If you need help with anything specific let me know and I can give you more information.
Because I was going to run it on 8S and I figured that was going to be too much stress on the motor. Honestly even on 6s the stock gearing is more than enough. The chassis can't really handle much more than that.
Great work brother! I absolutely loved the video!! I can't believe TRX is still using the dreaded pin screws to secure the hubs to the arms, wow, they suck. It took a good beat down though. I like the truck, but I don't see any value at $700. I would confidently buy a Mojave over this, looks better, performs better IMO. The tires on this Slash suck compared to the Mojave tires too. The only place I see the Maxx Slash tires being better is on blacktop. Kudos to Traxxas for coming up with another way to keep the cashflow going, and using the copyrighted Maxx and Slash names.. but, no interest in this truck for me. Too bad they couldn't come up with a clever inner body like Arrma did on the 4s Mojave, that would have been nice to keep the Maxx Slash innards clean. Well done on the video tho!!
Does the upgraded servo saver and steering servo remove the steering slop? That's what I hate the most about my Maxx V2, I can't get it to drive in a straight line, it's always wandering left or right.
Yes it helps a lot though my primary problem has always been the slow steering. Because I'm used to faster steering servos I'm always kind of behind on the steering with the stock servo. A faster servo makes a big difference
For being 6s platform is not bad. If any person thinks the drive shafts will not going to handle 6s, they can. As I said last video, they are other rc from Traxxas that have better tempting price, like the Max and E Revo 2.0. I have E Revo seconds hand, and I am still kicking like no tomorrow
Yeah I think with these fairly narrow tires I think the drive shafts will be fine especially with the reinforcement. I'm sure people will be able to break them but it probably won't be a super common thing.
I just got my first RC since I was a kid and the Max Slash blew me away. I had to decide between something less powerful then upgrading it or get something I won’t need to but 8S is too much.
I don't own a maxx or xmaxx so please excuse this question if it's common knowledge. Is there any camber adjustment on there? If you can give it a few degrees of negative camber, that will help with SOME of that roll over. That's why I'm asking.
I have no idea what to name it but I hope they release one with the wide arms from the Maxx v2 and 1M center diff fluid and belted sledgehammer LP tires (or a new tire entirely) to go right up with the big rock 6s.
@@JamieFox-x4m Yeah I'm not sure if you saw the video I did where I turned it into a maxxrt but to be honest with you I think that's the best part of this truck. Don't get me wrong it's fun and listen possible future upgrades it might even handle well but it's definitely hard to justify in a world where the Mojaves exist.
@@DoRC yeah, for sure, price is ridiculous, plastic servo?!? And it doesn’t seem like it handles well when it’s on the ground either. I don’t want to be overly negative but compared to what $700 gets you when you buy a Kraton EXB v2, granted it’s a very different vehicle, it just makes its value look extra poor.
so i love my slash maxx. i love how it looks. as far as how it drives , it is not that fun. its very difficult not to flip it over. the shock springs seem short. def needs upgrades. it looks sick coming down a hill in grass just floating on a sea of green lol. but its a clumsy truck out of the box. needs stablization
That's pretty much my evaluation of it as well. It's a good looking car but it really doesn't drive very well. It's very similar to the stock Traxxas max in that respect which I guess isn't terribly surprising since that's basically what it is
I don't think that's going to help. The thinner fluid actually helps prevent the car from rolling because once one wheel starts to come off the ground power bleeds off to it and that reduces the energy going to the ground which slows the car down. Thicker fluid could very well make the rolling over problem worse
@@DoRC i think it will have the opposite effect my man.. im not saying 20mill lol.. but 1mil would allow for more traction to the slipping tires enabling u to have an overall better feel when landing off camber jumps
@@DoRC thanks for the reply. I wonder if a set of stiff sway bars would help with the rollovers. The rollovers reminded me of driving my UDR with the stock spool diff.
I had most of the stuff already from my Max collection but you'd probably be looking at another 700 bucks to do all those upgrades if you had to buy them new.
I have them. I wanted to go soft because I wanted to see how that would affect the handling over rough terrain. With the stock set up it was really pogoing over anything rough. The softer springs definitely helped with that but made body roll worse as you would expect.
I believe better tires could definitely help. I'm not sure what tires will be appropriate for it though. I kind of looked around at what I had and everything seems like it's too small or too big.
Axles would be about 120, recommend a power hobby 729 servo that the adapter and the servo saver would probably be about 200, Max 6 is about 150 and other 120 for the hubs and knuckles so you're looking at around 600 total I think.
Not necessarily. I think the servo is an important upgrade but everything else can probably wait. The seahubs on the Max are often a problem but with the protected nature of an SCT it might not be a problem here. This is more for a bit of fun using parts that I already had from my Max
Yeah i understand u definitely did one of the best videos i have seen so far. i Masters the maxx i will have that maxx slash doing 60 + 3s stock .also that sevro u took out was a upgrade from the maxx they not same im not saying u didn't put a better one in there im just saying its the new high speed servo it looks like the old maxx one .
It's possible they updated internally but this is the same 2090 model number that's in the max. It doesn't feel any different. I've had probably half a dozen of them in the past.
Yeah I don't really like putting links or lists because they're always changing and it's a pain to keep up with. I also don't want people thinking I'm trying to profit off these videos cuz I'm not. I usually try to say what each part is though and a quick Google search will generally bring them up.
Cool😂 I just took Mojave 4s out but I’m out for first time to think of a reason to over pay for this 😂 I’m out of batteries, ran a 3s and it was a dog . Traxxas funny they’re crashing rolling at lower speeds so really is toyish compared to Arrmas and Losis teknos . Thing is they’re so convenient and forgiving to use and for most part you’ll never have to open the diffs which is major to non mechanical people , than as a collector they look so dam nice 👍 but if you’re a working man money can go further elsewhere right , I get impression if not for the channel you wouldn’t buy traxxas , I know you don’t like sct , I used to be my favorite Rc because of the slash and Losi Five T were the two RC I owned the longest over the years . Nice day brother have fun
I don't know. I like pretty much all RC cars and I'm a sucker for a new platform no matter what it is. I also kind of really like Traxxas cars. My go-to daily offline basher is a max and I love my X-Max and XRT. They all have their advantages and disadvantages but if I didn't have the channel I'd still own some Traxxas.
Yeah I wouldn't directly compare this to either one bashing wise though it does derive its strength from the maxx and it also derives its pretty poor handling from the maxx. I think it's an okay basher in its class but I'm not sure excels is the word I would use. Maybe if you've never driven either one of the mojave's but if you have you might feel differently.
Perhaps I might, I've driven Gen 1 slashes and a maxx (later upgraded to widemaxx). Like i said 2 different classes. I can't give it 100% props the rollovers are senseless until the sway bar upgrades. Even then a wider wheelbase is in order.
It has an asterisk next to the mph on the box, like a lot of Traxxas models. You have to switch the spur and pinion to the speed gearing to achieve that speed. Isn't ideal for bashing as it will overheat.
Those speeds are on road speeds. I got 55 on 6S out of the box with stock gearing on road. It's always going to be slower off-road and I was mostly just comparing the previous speed of 45 that I got with the 8S additional power. I'm sure it would be faster on road. I think JT has gotten 68 with the body off and optional gearing on road.
Cool video. But face it traxxas cars handle like **** obviously by the video. A car shouldn't roll over and just like that. This coming from a guy that builds his own kit race cars
I'm not really convinced parachuting is the cause of these problems. The body actually seems to be pretty well under control. I think this is a combination of a high center of gravity and the suspension not really behaving the way it needs to for an SCT
Keep in mind this was off-road. It'll always go quite a bit faster on road. I don't doubt that as long as the truck will actually stay on the ground it will do 70 miles an hour on road.
You probably won't see too much of that on my channel. I mostly do bashing so top speed stuff really isn't part of the recipe most of the time. It also doesn't really show how the car handles off-road because It's easy to go straight on smooth terrain.
Once the initial hype dies down, I really think this truck will go down as one of the most underwhelming and overpriced RCs in recent years. And of course, it had to be a Traxxas. Every now and then they make something good and ALMOST worth the money, but this isn't one of those.
Jeez, traxxas looks to have a subscription on rolling cars. I dont think the handling isn't that great out of the box. To put it in perspective, i run about same tiresize on my "truggy". It would outrun this truck in handling in every way and speedwise its about the same but on 6s. Looking at the specs, this truck is quite heavy also. This isn't an advantage in nearly any way and that's why i converted my monstertruck to a truggy with lighter electronics and smaller tires which saved me 2kg...
I think even the ultimate edition would still be a lot of plastic. I doubt they're going to upgrade things like the chassis which is what most people complain about.
Oh no I'm aware :-) as long as you don't physically over rev it and blow it apart and you keep an eye on temps you can overvolt a motor. of course it's always a risk but it was a risk I was willing to take. I've run these motors on 8S enough times to know they can handle it. That being said I'm not recommending it.
I don't like to do links for two reasons. The first one is that they are always going stale and it becomes logistical nightmare to keep up with them but the second and more important one is that they don't want people to think that I am profiting off of any of this because I'm not. That being said pretty much anything that I listed you can Google and find pretty easily and if you have any specific questions about something please feel free to ask.
Sorry but your conclusion that 8s is too much for the chassis is just wrong. Firstly, drive it without full turn at top speed. Second, gear it up to take advantage of the extra power. Third find a location that is conducive to greater-than-4s-speeds. Not trynna be a dick but this vid was a big letdown. And I don’t even like that truck lol
Well my opinion is just that my own but I was making it based on the capabilities of the platform. In a straight line the included 6s system is already too much power. If you look at Jay Tee's latest video you'll see that he had to take the body off in order to reach top speed due to the natural parachuting tendency. The tires also don't have enough traction to put that much power to the ground and the truck just gets unstable at anything above about 40 miles an hour. The area in which I was running has plenty of wide open spaces I just was choosing not to use them because they don't really make for very good cinematography. I did run it wide open quite a few times though off camera and I stand by my judgment. The stock system has plenty of power to overrun the capabilities of The truck as it comes out of the box. That being said again it's just my opinion and it's worth just about as much as anybody else's :-) thanks for watching!
@@DoRC nah man I disagree I’ve pushed smaller cars faster that were lighter and kept them on the ground. I saw JT’s vid too and have the same thoughts for ya both; drop the front down as low as the terrain allows with droop screws or even zip tie the shocks shorter while adding spring tension to avoid rollovers, and then thicker rear shock oil. It will keep the front end down and the rear from reactively dropping I’m talking 100 wt oil. Also his loc is slightly inclined which also affects potential to wheelie in both directions. I know I know why don’t I make a video well it’s faster to type these proven tips, and you already have the truck. It’s not even close to too much if you drive it right, and there’s no “out the box” argument you already modded it so set up the suspension for the power and it will take it all. On grass probably not so you’re correct with that caveat and maybe we agree in some places - I’m going UDR route and may end up taking it to 8s power levels or beyond and will employ the same strategy. That truck’s mondo suspension is the key to insane speed potential IMO. With 8s you could easily beat the 70mph claim why not go for it and get some viewage?
@orbitaljellyfish808 okay I think we're just talking about two different things here. I was talking about as an offroad basher with reasonable modifications it's more power than the platform can practically utilize. As you stated you can pretty much make anything handle pretty much any amount of power with enough work. That's not really what I was talking about though. This truck doesn't handle very well, the tires aren't very good and it just isn't up to the task. I've put big power on plenty of other vehicles including the sledge, kagama, outcast, kraton and even an MT410 2.0. they all were more capable of handling it than this car is. As far as me going fast I'm just not really that into speed running and honestly don't know that much about it. I'm also not really super interested in learning because it just doesn't hold my attention. I'm a basher :-)
Three parts to this. first of all this thing has terrible air control and second of all I'm durability testing this truck as I'm making these videos. Finally though I show what I want you to see in these videos. You see about a minute of a 40 minute bash session and I like to show what the thing can actually handle in a crash.

I totally get it, no worries thanks for the reply.@@DoRC
@@thewarrior777 You're welcome again let me know if there's anything specific that I can help you with!
Why you didn’t put a 27/44 t gear ?
Yeah but something good came out of it. Check out my latest video :-)
@@DoRC I did check it out, Awsum!!😎🍻
Sweet, finished , Traxxas Slash Ultimate
:)
I knew Do was gonna do it 😂😂😂😂
More to come :-)
Does the upgraded servo saver and steering servo remove the steering slop? That's what I hate the most about my Maxx V2, I can't get it to drive in a straight line, it's always wandering left or right.
Yes it helps a lot though my primary problem has always been the slow steering. Because I'm used to faster steering servos I'm always kind of behind on the steering with the stock servo. A faster servo makes a big difference
Thing seems like a blast. I wanna buy one bad but really don't know if it's worth it with my current lineup though
It definitely has its charm. I'm not sure I would be able to recommend it over a Mojave but it is fun
does exactly what the maxx does, buck consistently, roll consistently and never one smooth transition for the suspension!
Yeah and I guess that's kind of to be expected given that ultimately it is a maxx.
........ WIDEMAXX KIT FITS!!! PER TRAXXAS
@kevintaghon9624 Yes it will but you're going to have rubbing issues with the tires if you don't modify the body or lift things
Awesome glad you're enjoying it!
I’m planning on widemax kit cut the fenders
Could be good
I don't own a maxx or xmaxx so please excuse this question if it's common knowledge.
Is there any camber adjustment on there?
If you can give it a few degrees of negative camber, that will help with SOME of that roll over. That's why I'm asking.
No there isn't. I don't really think adding a little bit of negative camber is going to help much anyway.
I have no idea what to name it but I hope they release one with the wide arms from the Maxx v2 and 1M center diff fluid and belted sledgehammer LP tires (or a new tire entirely) to go right up with the big rock 6s.
Stay tuned :-)
It's 20M diff fluid
Thunder rc put the wide kit on his but price wise the Mojave is far better handling And drive train way better!
That thing does not like to be airborne lol, great vid, as usual
No it's really not a stunt truck. I mostly jump it just to see what it can do and see what kind of abuse it can handle.
Nice video man
Thanks! Plenty more coming:)
Dope video bud!
Thanks Glad you enjoyed :-)
so i love my slash maxx. i love how it looks. as far as how it drives , it is not that fun. its very difficult not to flip it over. the shock springs seem short. def needs upgrades. it looks sick coming down a hill in grass just floating on a sea of green lol. but its a clumsy truck out of the box. needs stablization
That's pretty much my evaluation of it as well. It's a good looking car but it really doesn't drive very well. It's very similar to the stock Traxxas max in that respect which I guess isn't terribly surprising since that's basically what it is
Maybe get some thicker fluid in the diffs all the way around as well
I don't think that's going to help.
Maxx it out & send it 🚀 🌙
:)
Awesome video! Any idea what motor temps were?
I gave Hit the finger check a few times and on 8S it was getting pretty hot but on 6s with the Mac 6 it was not bad. A fan would definitely help.
@@DoRC thanks for the reply. I wonder if a set of stiff sway bars would help with the rollovers. The rollovers reminded me of driving my UDR with the stock spool diff.
So with all the upgrades how much did you spend?
I had most of the stuff already from my Max collection but you'd probably be looking at another 700 bucks to do all those upgrades if you had to buy them new.
@@DoRC One thousand four hundred pounds?
@@beandean356 it'll be about $1,400 with the car and the upgrades I'm not sure what that is in GBP
Needs bigger tires for the ramp so we get a lil more rotation
Unfortunately bigger tires won't fit under the body. That's just sort of the nature of the beast with an SCT
Wide Maxx Slash!!
Stay tuned :-)
Order up the spring kit for this shocks and put the stiffer ones on there.
I have them. I wanted to go soft because I wanted to see how that would affect the handling over rough terrain. With the stock set up it was really pogoing over anything rough. The softer springs definitely helped with that but made body roll worse as you would expect.
@@DoRC yes, but now you made the truck heavier, and those are dual rate so it should be good
what servo horn did you use?
I believe it's the one that came with the GPM servo mount kit. It's been on a max for a while and I think I had to modify it to make it fit.
I think might need a tire upgrade
I believe better tires could definitely help. I'm not sure what tires will be appropriate for it though. I kind of looked around at what I had and everything seems like it's too small or too big.
Yeah thats a folly with a lot of these middle scale cars. Not a lot of options
How much money did you spend for all the upgrades ?
Axles would be about 120, recommend a power hobby 729 servo that the adapter and the servo saver would probably be about 200, Max 6 is about 150 and other 120 for the hubs and knuckles so you're looking at around 600 total I think.
Good deal thanks 🤙
Is this that bad to load in new uogrades already? Too much aluminium can affect performance I think...
Not necessarily. I think the servo is an important upgrade but everything else can probably wait. The seahubs on the Max are often a problem but with the protected nature of an SCT it might not be a problem here. This is more for a bit of fun using parts that I already had from my Max
What happened to the two giveaways for the fan and the no cry driver
They're still active I've just been really busy and haven't had a chance to actually do the drawing. I'll do them this week. Sorry for the delay

Yes sir I have The biggest DS2685BLHV SERVO In my 12s 5ive-t 2.0
Rear shock guards are mounted backward
I know trust me it's annoying but they won't fit the other way around
Yeah i understand u definitely did one of the best videos i have seen so far. i Masters the maxx i will have that maxx slash doing 60 + 3s stock .also that sevro u took out was a upgrade from the maxx they not same im not saying u didn't put a better one in there im just saying its the new high speed servo it looks like the old maxx one .
It's possible they updated internally but this is the same 2090 model number that's in the max. It doesn't feel any different. I've had probably half a dozen of them in the past.
Yeah u right that is the same servo I don't know y they ain't put the new one in there
Thats insanely overpowered and very irresponsible and this i like 👍 😮😅😊
Yeah it's definitely too much power. The stock system is plenty of jam. Fun though!
@@DoRC definitely but it had to be done once lol
You should put a parts list in your description.
Yeah I don't really like putting links or lists because they're always changing and it's a pain to keep up with. I also don't want people thinking I'm trying to profit off these videos cuz I'm not. I usually try to say what each part is though and a quick Google search will generally bring them up.
The first time of many that the body will come off.
Yeah it seems to come off fairly easily in a tumble unfortunately.

@boduke9428 there's a company that makes rubber straps you can use to affix the body.
First comment 😁 niiice hop ups! Oh be mind, 2nd comment.
Thanks for comment :)
It’s more impressive on 8s 👍
It's pretty fun but I don't really think it's that practical :-)
I just think Traxxas should have made it bigger like the 6s Mojave. Do you have an upgrade to make it longer? 😂
Now I can't really think of any way you could do that without resorting to some serious custom stuff
Drive it like you stole it.
Yep!
Lands like a brick but looks good doing it.
Pretty much. At least it's tough!

It deff moves
Yes it certainly has enough power.
Hey I emailed you about the power drill as we had talked
I didn't get anything. I checked spam and didn't see anything there either. Can you email me again?
@DoRC I sent another let me know I sent as a test message
It does not jump well at all let’s try some unbelted tires on the next video
Got something special for the next video :-)
Mojave 6s would be so much
Yeah I think the Mojave 4S and 6s are better trucks.
lol i thought the maxx with upgraded speed control on 4s was fast / powerful.
Yeah this is definitely too much power :-)

those front ends on these look so damn horrible.
I think it looks pretty good especially in person but that sort of thing is definitely subjective. Thanks for watching :-)
I need it
Are you going to get one?
@@DoRC I'll wait until one of these part out companies on eBay sells one as a roller. Kinda a lot of money for a car I'd probably never run stock
Incomparable to a maxx or xmaxx, in its own class this truck excells as a basher. The wheelbase's are too far from similar to be compared
@kevintaghon9624 yeah she does like to roll over.
8's 😂😂😂 such any ways 🤷🏻
Always fun to try things :-)
You got 45 out the box... The box says 70 plus, & you got 55 on 8s!? What am I missing...smh
That body for 700 bucks? 🤣
It's definitely a lot of money
The only rc compatible to the mojave that'll beat the mojave. Is a newer version of the mojave!!
Maybe. The Mojave, especially the 4S1 definitely has a price to performance combination that's hard to beat.
Cool video. But face it traxxas cars handle like **** obviously by the video. A car shouldn't roll over and just like that. This coming from a guy that builds his own kit race cars
Yeah for the most part they aren't the best handling cars they are durable though.
After watching this video again unless proline comes out with a body that will release more of the air it just won’t touch either Mojave 🤷🏻♂️
I'm not really convinced parachuting is the cause of these problems. The body actually seems to be pretty well under control. I think this is a combination of a high center of gravity and the suspension not really behaving the way it needs to for an SCT
55mph is a long way of 70mph... Traxxas I think be smoking all the weed using our money as papers
Keep in mind this was off-road. It'll always go quite a bit faster on road. I don't doubt that as long as the truck will actually stay on the ground it will do 70 miles an hour on road.
Bro quit cross rutting and run the ruts for speed
You probably won't see too much of that on my channel. I mostly do bashing so top speed stuff really isn't part of the recipe most of the time. It also doesn't really show how the car handles off-road because It's easy to go straight on smooth terrain.
@@DoRC ok … we are into racing so we have to run the tracks terrain as it lays !
Good vids bro ! Keep bashing !
@ ya I see I’m more track guy
Once the initial hype dies down, I really think this truck will go down as one of the most underwhelming and overpriced RCs in recent years. And of course, it had to be a Traxxas. Every now and then they make something good and ALMOST worth the money, but this isn't one of those.
I think it will too
@RcSpeedFreak-kk8wj yeah if it weren't for the Mojave it probably wouldn't feel quite so overpriced but they do exist so it does.
Check out my latest video:)
They need make fast ultimate version,!!! To mush plastic.
I think even the ultimate edition would still be a lot of plastic. I doubt they're going to upgrade things like the chassis which is what most people complain about.
Mojave says hi bro
Are you not aware the stock motor is 6s not 8😂?
Oh no I'm aware :-) as long as you don't physically over rev it and blow it apart and you keep an eye on temps you can overvolt a motor. of course it's always a risk but it was a risk I was willing to take. I've run these motors on 8S enough times to know they can handle it. That being said I'm not recommending it.
You touted this channel as a good place for RC upgrade but you have zero links to where to buy all the upgrades in this video.
This is nothing more than a low center of gravity UDR
Not really. The UDR is a solid rear axle scale type truck. This is more of a dedicated basher.
Only the poors complain about price
I am poor :-)
It’s a over priced and ugly as sin..
I’d take Mojave any day over that
Arrma mojave 6s wood drive the same way
I'm not sure I agree. I've had a few of them in the past and I don't remember them being genuinely difficult to drive.
No way, my mojave drives itself
Lame
What in particular didn't you like?
I think this car is way overpriced for what it is.
It definitely is a lot of money.
Wow you bad driver..the jumping was terrible man ..
Three parts to this. first of all this thing has terrible air control and second of all I'm durability testing this truck as I'm making these videos. Finally though I show what I want you to see in these videos. You see about a minute of a 40 minute bash session and I like to show what the thing can actually handle in a crash.
