if i was told she was in her twenties - i would have believed it - but i have trouble accepting that she turned 49 !!!! in 1974 - gorgeous woman - gorgeous singing voice - and i love her speaking voice too - and her urge to be feminine - looking like her - it was easy and fun to be a girl

I think she meant that she likes femininity, but that doesn't mean she was a push-over. Her whole demeanor in this interview was kind of the opposite of that.

btw - Gloria's real family name is O'Callaghan - her father changed his name to DeHaven - however - there's no indication where he got it from - it coulda been a relative's name if you take one of those DNA tests - you might uncover unknown relatives who might fill in the gaps in your knowledge
She's a follower not a leader? She's a jello mold. Doesn't believe in women's liberation? So she's stuck in the 1950's mindset here? She obviously didn't believe in progress either... She comes across as shallow and uninteresting and thinking she's all that in this tacky dress. She's not getting any reaction from the men on her right either. Me thinks she thinks she's all that. I’m glad I’m not the only one with that opinion. I’m laughing to myself because she says she’s against “women’s lib”-yet she dominates the entire conversation. OMG! He (Carson) is Soooooooooo Rude to Gloria DeHaven! He constantly interrupts her -- and even belittles her at 07:00 by lighting a cigarette, whilst she is trying to tell a story about Sammy Davis Jr, and then saying to Gloria -- "does this bother you? I'll put it out!!!..." So RUDE! And Ignorant too.
It did seem to be an awkward interview.....maybe they didn't like each other? Was Johnny being rude or was she not letting him ask any questions? She just kind of came out and started talking.....it was like they weren't having a conversation.

That wouldn't be a shocking thing, but it is odd that she wouldn't have confirmed that ahead of time. However, she was a wonderful singer and she did have a sense of humor. I loved her performance in "Out to Sea" (1997) with Walter Matthau and Jack Lemmon!
1: Carson did not upstage his guests. If he did, he would not have been the late night king for 30y. 2: Carson is well known in the industry for making his guests look good. 3: DeHaven is sitting there somewhat self righteous and in fact bites back at the audience and Carson. She even looks at her fingernails and says “Why did I even...”. Meaning “why did I even come on this show?” 4: She says Bufferin, then gets up. She says Oh Well , it gave me a chance to show the dress.” 5: She reminds me of Blanche DuBois from A Streetcar Named Desire.
I just happened to follow a few videos this way.. but I'm going to say I am not impressed at all with this interview. If this was the first thing that I had seen in this video trip, I don't think I would go and follow anymore of her videos. I think she was really rude. I know everybody else is saying how wonderful she was in the comments.. I just don't see it.
She does seem to be some what arrogant and rude. Maybe she was only trying to be in control of the situation. This also surprised and baffled me. However, you must watch her many great earlier movies as she was really a great talent. Her acting and singing was so very wonderful and special. She was so very much underated and unappreciated. She truly should have been a much bigger star. Perhaps she became hardened by the harsh realities of Hollywood and the way she was abused.🤔

IT WORKED WITH GLORIA AROUND THIS TIME IN A LONDON CONCERT. SHE WAS DELIGHTFUL AND VERY MUCH IN GOOD VOICE.
