At one time all had previous affiliation with DCI groups. Not just Cavaliers through the years. Who knows what it has been since Cirque obtained it, though a number of those performers all were DCI performers.
SCV had a drum book called "Violent Ice Cream," named after a judge's comment. He said something like, "Snares...OMG...that was like violent...ice cream!" I love that, I'd love to hear that tape!
i really want to see a step-by-step process of how the judges come up with the scores because it just seems like they are losing their minds like everyone else with these performances so how do we get such close and precise scores??
There are a lot of judges so that they can get more detailed things but they usually don’t point out all of the mistakes in tapes they’ll just say “that worked” or “that needs work” but on the sheets they go into detail
In DCA we a horn judge say we sounded “stodgy” and we won horns that night by a point. Caption head said...” I have no idea what they meant”. 🤣😂🤦♂️🤷♂️
i love jj piptone. dudes son was a killer quad player in hs. he was center quad his sophomore year and was just killer. then he was in bluecoats in 2019 and mashed it
I love JJ but I’ve just gotta clear this up because I marched with him in HS, and his sophomore year (my senior year) center quad was the absolute legend Daniel Kim.
I always wondered what the judges in field say in DCI, I thought some light "criticism" or seriously "doing their job" when in reality they like to yell "YEAH" and have "FUN" a9and I like the 2nd option more! Thanks for sharing! lol
I love how throughout the years the mic still manages to not change lol
Fr, the recording from the 79 sounded better than the ones from the early thousands
I think this goes to show that the judges are just as big of DCI nerds as everyone else is
They are the biggest nerds of them all
That’s how they became judges. That and an outstanding background in the arts.
@@russellchevalier3606 did you know the(edit: some of) blue man group guys are old cavalier Marchers??

5:13 I love how he just starts screaming
“yes, yes yes yes GOD… thank you… yes. YEAH BEAUTIFUL. You have made me the happiest person in the world troopers” 😭😭
Dave Richardson sounded like he was gonna cry. Good for you.
Dave Richards*
Not sure if Dave’s “ohhhh fuck” tape from 1976 Blue Devils still exists
My was WEEEPING bruh 😂
Cavaliers: exist
Percussion judge: *screams*
That chord after the first synth slide down in Tilt (0:58) is one of the best chords in DCI history.

2:44 you could only hear for a second but that was one of the purest full encore sounds ever

6:11 -- he says the words "great feel, great time" with great feel and great time.
LMAO HE DID
oh my god lmao
and he said "nice sounds with the hi hat" in the most syncopated way
Dude percussion judges are insane
Yep just like percussionists 😂
This video is incomplete without the inclusion of “That spock roll was… CLEEEAAANNN!!!”
Crazy how the TILT closer can still give me chills through the Judge Mic 😂 “GOOD FOR YOU!”

that sounds amazing
0:55 uhHEHEHHE was so funny. probably exactly what i did the first time i saw this show too. i love show judges.
Reminds me of when we had a judge that legit just talked about his drive home during our ballad, He gave us a good score too…
My two favorites are "WOOOOOOW!!!" - Jeff Prosperie and "The Rubato was money all the way through!"-Mike Leitzke LOL
Lots of corps *hate* first judge because they never say anything that’s wrong about their show, so obviously they don’t get the feedback they need.

😂😂
good job bass drums.
One time a BoA judge said that our high school marching band sounded like a high school marching band. Not sure what he meant by that one
Watching this with your eyes closed is just.. it’s insane
Good for you.
Beautiful mix of percussion and GE tapes, they blend together just beautifully, good for you
Clever comment, that made me laugh…and by laugh I mean I exhaled through my nose a little stronger than normal. Good for you.
Great clarity on those transitions, wonderful job. Wow. I’m crying. Good for you
Percussion judges are on something
RIP Coats 2015 tape... it was clean.

He was the teacher of my percussion methods class in college. Real cool dude and amazing teacher.
correction: I marched with JJ jr. at the blue devils in 2019, not bluecoats :)

Maybe I want to be a DCI judge instead as a career. They sounded so happy throughout all of that!
That 2010 Regiment tape is just fangirling about the basses, who really were the greatest

i love how the amazing stuff from the corps makes even the judges have some childish moments, it really adds to the effect
Gotta look up the 2013 Cadets GE tape from Massillon by Joe Allison 😂
we send people to space but cant get dci judges an iPhone or something to record this
2013 cadet battery is prob the best there ever was.
“Those were the best rim shots ever, and there’s a deep drive by castellenos into left and it’s gonna be a home run.”

If you ever do another one, you should feature Jeff Prosperie's tape for the Madison Scouts in 2013. There's some great nuggets in there haha.
