The last message I ever got from my best friend that was killed was him asking me what the name of this song was. Showed it to him a few nights before when we were chillin and he loved it. Can't begin to express the value this song carries every time I listen to it. Just... thank you.
I'm so sorry Gayle, your beautiful boy had an overwhelming grasp on life. He carries you in his heart for an eternity because nothing in and out of this world will change what you are to him. There is a tragedy that a lot of people don't get to feel life....your son did and continues too. I hope you find solace in all that brings a smile to your face. What was your sons name?
@I don’t wanna use my name Dude, thank you for posting this. People always try to tell me how Steve Vai is basically a god. Don’t get me wrong, his skill is undeniable. But his ego is blindingly evident in the way he writes his songs or even the way he jams. Truly amazing and admirable music has almost nothing to do with actual skill, but everything to do with emotional translation/communication. Plini paints literal pictures with his music while Steve Vai bends his strings more than the next guy. I’m sorry, but it’s a clear-cut choice for me in terms of who is the more selfless and honest musician. Like, stop hiding behind your pinch harmonics and embrace your emotions, bro
Saw them in concert in Atlanta and their first words were, 'Are you ready to get happy?' and I was so confused but then they played this and I felt fantastic. Love these guys!
I love the comment "Produced and Mixed by Plini in a bedroom in Sydney" Not only is Plini one of the most inspirational musicians I've ever heard, but his production is so incredibly solid! Can't wait for the full album!
Just saw Plini with Nick Johnston and David Maxim in Houston literally HOURS before Hurricane Harvey hit...they were the only bands that didn't cancel in the city that night. Around 75-80 people still showed up, maybe more, and it was the most amazing show. They were sooo freaking cool, nice & genuine people, stayed to talk with anyone who wanted to meet them or discuss their music. Oh and they sounded incredible, easily one of the best experiences I've ever had seeing live music, their music makes you feel so GOOD inside. Bunch of classy dudes is what they are to be there for their fans and risk the wrath of what turned out to be the biggest storm in US history.
This is one of those songs that you see in your playlist and say, "I've listened to that so many times, I kinda want to listen to something else," but you play it anyway and feel the same energy as you did the very first time. This piece and the whole album set a new bar for progressive rock.
Nice to know other people use music as fuel. Handful of songs literally changed my life. Gave me the drive to make change. This one's gonna do some good for me.

First time I heard this, when that first lead line after the tapping hit I sobbed like a baby! It was just hitting me at the perfect place in life at that time. Reminiscent of when I first heard Petrucci rip. Thanks Plini if you see this!
I signed in just to give this a thumbs up and to let you know that you're music brings tears to my eyes and stirs my emotions. I love playing guitar, have been for over 40 years. I am constantly amazed with the evolution of our instrument and the countless ways it used to express sadness, rage, peace and joy in our lives. I am so glad to live long enough to hear your work, and that of others who won't let their creativity be restrained or filtered. Thank you Plini. You are amazing, gifted and humble. Please keep on providing us with your vision and passion.
This music is incredibly uplifting. There's just something beautifully optimistic about every note played, the happiness emitted in the guitar. Its like sitting by the beach, and seeing the world sleep at night. Its like standing in the middle of a busy road while everyone is going to work. The droney nature of the chords and arpeggios are like a stillness and everything around is this organised chaos infused with the being at peace with the suffering of the world. It has a sort of tranquility about everything, the jazzy guitar solo is like self-discovery and being able to find happiness when the world has become quiet from all the noise. Its like pushing past all the racing thoughts and reaching the finish line.

I name my chapters differently, but you nailed the overarching chronology of meaning. If that ever makes sense, to anyone. Pasture, to me, is a dream. A fantasy. We all know the place, we all dream of it. That place. The pasture.
It's official: Rick Beato is an influencer! I saw the intro to his WMTSG video on this song, immediately paused it to come listen to it in full first, and daaaaaaaaamn. Reminds me of Liquid Tension Experiment and sleepmakeswaves
I imagine myself as a guy who’s been trying to make it big and lives in New York. Theres a montage of me working through the shitty server jobs in the morning and playing at small venues at night. Even though my music is a breakthrough, the right opportunities has not presented itself. An audition flyer cruises by for opening acts to play at Madison square garden. Through all the struggles, I finally get my break and get the serious gig. I’m running through the park in slow motion. Finally to tell the one girl who’s been there through it all “we made it”. Haha this is how I imagine the song.
This song is a journey: 0:00 Uncertainty of the unfamiliar.. 0:13 Hope - Embracing what new life has to offer 1:08 Excitement. Enjoying "the good times" 1:42 Tension 2:12 Conflict 2:26 Walking on eggshells 2:40 Stages of Grief 2:40 Denial (4 bars) 2:53 Anger (4 bars) 3:07 Bargaining (4 bars) 3:21 Depression (4 bars) 3:35 Acceptance (4 bars) 3:54 looking back on it all... (callback to "the good times") 4:40 Uncertainty of the unfamiliar.. (status quo)
At first i was like "ah, another djent project", but when i listened further, i heard influences from Mattias IA Eklundh, Vai and Satriani. Very playful guitarwork! Had to repeat few times. Noice!!!
this song is so beautiful, epic but sad sounding at the same time makes me feel loads of emotion at the same time awesome song man keep it up subscribed :D
For anyone who was wondering, the intro is in 17/16, 4/4 plus a 16th note Edit: Actually i think the whole song is ANOTHER EDIT, if you count it as 12/8 plus 1/8(13\8) its easier to count while you play
Great sonic flight. Like a painter laying down different brush strokes and various other media to construct the aural landscape. Thumbs up to Rick Beatto introducing this to new ears and providing a great break down analyses.
This song is everything I want to do with music. Hearing it over and over does nothing but inspire me to write positive, emotional and progressive music to share with others. Having Troy Wright articulating the rhythm ties it all together for me, personally, as well.

A lot of people brought to this because of Rick Beato. Those bands who block Rick from using their music as examples are quite foolish.
That's why I'm here. Never heard of this guy before. I like this.
Bands don't do that. Huge corporate conglomerate media companies do that (or their hirelings do it, to be precise).
What bands have ever done that?
I agree. I will happily pay to download any music when I like it enough. Plini rocks.
@@terrycrews6179 A few. For example, he daren't play a riff from any Eagles song or CRASH, the video is blocked.

28:39 - Cascade / A new "Call to adventure"
And the Hero Journey restart! Listen the album again!!! 00:00
I name my chapters differently, but you nailed the overarching chronology of meaning. If that ever makes sense, to anyone.
Pasture, to me, is a dream. A fantasy. We all know the place, we all dream of it. That place. The pasture.
I just LOVE the transition chords at 3:50, and especially how it brings us back to the epic main riff. Makes me cry happy tears almost. :')
A really close friend introduced me to this song, and then I simply fell in love with it :)
This is one of those songs I never want to forget
It's official: Rick Beato is an influencer! I saw the intro to his WMTSG video on this song, immediately paused it to come listen to it in full first, and daaaaaaaaamn. Reminds me of Liquid Tension Experiment and sleepmakeswaves
One of the greatest songs I've ever heard
the distorted note at 1:17 gives me chills every time
I saw it live on Saturday night, all the hair on the back of my neck was standing up for most of the show, spiritual would be an understatement!!
Cant believe this only had 16 views when I got here! It should have 1.6 million!
That's because it's unlisted.
It's been up for an hour lol
That's because videos don't just magically get millions of views
31,539 views and counting
+Brandon Unless it's Vevo garbage.
Thanks for making me cry Plini
SO GOOD!!! Hopefully you guys play this on tour :)
They played it at Tech-Fest so I'm guessing they will :)
+Sithu Aye anxiously waiting for 'The Noticing' as well (:
They played it as Glasgow, I think this'll be a staple of his set for a good while now!
They played it when I saw them last weekend, sounded amazing live too!
Yep! He also played a clean rendition of it together with aaron at our masterclass 5 days ago!
every plini albums makes me feel like im on an adventure exploring new places around nature
This song keeps my mind right, idk how to explain it, it bring tears to my eyes.
This song is a journey:
0:00 Uncertainty of the unfamiliar..
0:13 Hope - Embracing what new life has to offer
1:08 Excitement. Enjoying "the good times"
1:42 Tension
2:12 Conflict
2:26 Walking on eggshells
2:40 Stages of Grief
2:40 Denial (4 bars)
2:53 Anger (4 bars)
3:07 Bargaining (4 bars)
3:21 Depression (4 bars)
3:35 Acceptance (4 bars)
3:54 looking back on it all... (callback to "the good times")
4:40 Uncertainty of the unfamiliar.. (status quo)
dude, Good on ya!
No
So apt❤
dude I saw you have a lot of spare time but
omg this song never fails to incite joy in me whenever i listen to it. its crescendoes are so satisfying to get swept in.
At first i was like "ah, another djent project", but when i listened further, i heard influences from Mattias IA Eklundh, Vai and Satriani. Very playful guitarwork! Had to repeat few times. Noice!!!
Jesus, this is some amazing music! If the universe had a soundtrack, i think it would be this. Pure joy and wonder.
oh my god this is brilliant. can't wait for the album!
Going to the upcoming show in Wellington and I'm hyped!
(Y'all rocked, thanks for coming to Wellington!)

this whole album is a masterpiece!!!!!!!!!!
For anyone who was wondering, the intro is in 17/16, 4/4 plus a 16th note
Edit: Actually i think the whole song is
ANOTHER EDIT, if you count it as 12/8 plus 1/8(13\8) its easier to count while you play
Adam Jones Thanks !
I feel the 13/8 (6/8+7/8).
U didnt watch Rick Bento did u?
Quốc Bình You didn’t read the time stamp did you?
Great sonic flight. Like a painter laying down different brush strokes and various other media to construct the aural landscape. Thumbs up to Rick Beatto introducing this to new ears and providing a great break down analyses.
Watching people returning to work slowly as covid is disappearing. The world is such a nice place.
Yep "it's actually a good song" TheDooo doesn't lie my guys. Beautiful song Plini.
This song is everything I want to do with music. Hearing it over and over does nothing but inspire me to write positive, emotional and progressive music to share with others. Having Troy Wright articulating the rhythm ties it all together for me, personally, as well.
What a healing piece of art ❤️
Just discovered Plini, this made my day. I knew Troy Wright has to be in an awesome band.
