    Ok here's another way to eat this. Pound it to very small bits, boil some water, add condensed milk and stir till boil. Then add the coconut sprout that you pounded to it and stir well. Scoop some in a container or cup and stick it in the freezer till it's frozen. Finally, you can enjoy local island ice cream!!!!! Coming to you from pohnpei, Micronesia!!! Lol

    can you still plant the stem/root part to grow a coconut tree or will it die because it no longer has the nutrients from the spongy part you ate?

    The longer the sprout, the more salty texture. Ideally it is best to eat when the sprout is around 1 foot.

    • @LoveConsciousFamily
      @LoveConsciousFamily  8 лет назад

      Cool, do you make something with the sprout or just eat it?

    Its funny seeing all the comments from ‘I would plant it’ or about killing a baby plant. People eat sprouts of all kinds, sunflower, beans, and alfalfa to name a few. If I had chance to try this I would jump on it, it looks very yummy!

    I have never had spouted coconut. Where I live in the USA, we cannot grow much more than typical garden vegetables.
    Where do you live that you are able to gather spouted coconuts?

    • @abelhaftu2198
      @abelhaftu2198 5 лет назад

      In the USA you can sprout coconuts in hawaii, South florida, some California coasts, and South texas.

  • @harmonyrose856
    @harmonyrose856 10 лет назад +3

    OMG, how do you not chop your fingers off? lol
    So the coconut water, over time, turns into a spongy mass that feeds the seed for sprouting normally?
    I didn't even know you could eat anything from a sprouted coconut - that was really interesting. I never even considered what actually happens to the coconut water over time.

    • @LoveConsciousFamily
      @LoveConsciousFamily  10 лет назад +1

      Yes it is amazing, but it takes time to get there, take some month to get it sprout and the water turns into this spoungy texture nuturiosios bomb :)
      If you go to the tropics we really recommend to ask fot this :)

      I grew up in a plantation(Malaysia), was there till i was abt 14yo. Lots of fruits, varieties of rambutans, durians, jack fruits(to think of it now, i couldn't believe there are so many varieties of this too), langsat, ciku, cempedak mangoes(several types) and most abundant is mangoesteen, rose apple(not the common type we see in the market now) and yes coconut too, just at the back of our house(snake infested!!)Those were such beautiful time i had there, till the place was sold and we have to move out.

    • @LoveConsciousFamily
      @LoveConsciousFamily  9 лет назад +1

      mykegoh what is your favorite fruit?

    • @mykegoh
      @mykegoh 9 лет назад

      I love everything there, durian season goes hand in hand with mangoesteen, rambutan too. I miss that place. Development levelled the place and now condos sit there. I guess if I have to pick a favorite, it will be durians!
