Hi, just trying to build a livebait tank and found your video. Can you let me know more details of the 1 1/4” outlet as think you had a good idea but can not find one ? Does the weight of the tank full of water affect the boat handling ? Now you have had a chance to use it would you, if building again, do anything different ? Have you got any videos of you out on the water using it ? Many thanks for the video. Cheers Bob
What details did you need on the 1 1/4"? The weight was OK but it is a small tank. If there was a way or an option I would prefer to have a bottom feed and then over flow at the top.
Hi, thanks for your reply. When I put in the search '1 1/4 outlet pipe' I do not get anything that looks like the one you used with a graduated pipe. Where did you get yours from, is it a DIY item or pond item ? Found tank outlets but difficult to add a mesh filter @@C3BFA
Does the slow flow nozzle put Xtra stress on the bildge? Because it's exhaust is blocked. Do you hear the bildge pump rev up when you restrict out flow?
No it didn't seem. To be a problem. I left it free flowing most the time to be honest was only showing in video you can slow it down. For me the more flow the better

Thank you for the video. What about the longevity of the bilge pump? It is not manufactured as a livewell pump. Any problems in the long run or under heavy use?
I have a Kodiak 32gl tank I just got second hand. So the way it's set up the drain hose is on top and the bilge supply line at the bottom. Looking at yours you have the supply line above the drain. Any idea if the bottom supply is worse. This is raw water not aerator system. Thanks pal

im sure this works for most but its not the ideal set up. the water flowing out the exit drain is the water off the top of the surface which is fine in most cases. It means the water down the bottom is not cycling through to the top. all the water at the bottom of the barrel will lose the oxygen and as there is no flow from bottom to top it never gets replaced....but as i said in most cases this is fine. however some fish wont survive in these conditions. it is always ....always much better to have your inlet close to the bottom and your outlet closer to the top. this way fresh water is always cycling from the bottom to top and keep all levels oxygenated. you could say "just add air rater" well thats added expense and its not always the lack of oxygen that kills the fish. Some fish (Slimey mackerel ) stress and produce large amounts of pneumonia and that water needs to cycled out otherwise fish will die. hence why the water flowing from bottom to top is always better.
Great film and advice but the design is flawed, the outlet pipe is too close to the inlet pipe & should come from the bottom and use a strainer and come up on the outside of the barrel then have a tap to stop siphoning out when electric pump stops
Great video ! Miles better than having air pump!!
