Rather than being so obsessed with slavery that existed 150 years ago in the USA we can start by ending slavery and illicit slave trades that exist in Africa and Asia today.
I'm for exterminating the child traffickers within the US. That's a real injustice I can support ending.
Solitary Reaper are you talking about America? Because that’s definitely not the least racist country
Wage slavery is a form of slavery. We should end widescale slavery in our own societies before we start addressing the problems of others. You can't help others if you don't help yourself.
@@SolitaryReaper666 Free stuff? No, it is the people who monopolize the capital of a country that get "free stuff" by harnessing and controlling the profits made up by the wage value of the labor done by the wage slaves. I agree, people shouldn't get free stuff.
@Honest Person I'd never heard of it before. I just watched it at your mentioning it. My conclusion is there are some people so sick in the head they whine and moan about the environment, but use people for their own sick perversions. They've convinced themselves the world is their playground and they don't want the unwashed masses despoiling it for them. They have no root morality beyond what they want. If they could only infect themselves with their delusion, I'd pity them, but when they abuse children, manipulate markets and corrupt societies--the millstone is too kind a remedy (...speaking of the ocean).
If I'm looking for additional nefarious undertones to her speech, it looks like she might be trying to advocate less government oversight of what happens out in remote island areas (because "the seas belong to all of us"), which would have facilitated trafficking.
The fact that each of her points got such applause makes it clear that this talk was given to the complete wrong crowd. She makes a great point about the power of "unlikely allies", but it sounds like the whole audience are "likely allies"

the comment about JFK being an "unlikely ally" towards the civil rights movement is more than a little concerning honestly. He wasn't, he did it because he realized the country would collapse otherwise.

Hans Franz, the irony of you posting your comment on a talk about being tolerant of differences is absurd. Your spelling errors make it seem like you barely speak English. Communicate. Even when it's uncomfortable or uneasy. One of the best ways to heal, is simply getting everything out.
Also, educating ourselves about what others are going through, rather than sitting and waiting to be educated, is important. :)
Other than her story about the discriminatory ballet studios, I don't hear anything new here. White allies are *not* unlikely. In fact, though it's hard to do demographics on protests, I get the feeling that more white people participated in George Floyd protests than black, by a lot.
Also, this talk seems at odds with the message of so many other antiracist groups: "white allies, be quiet." Maybe both groups would agree on having white allies call out the ballet studios. But the issues that are being called racist today are not ballet studios rejecting blacks. (If a ballet place did that today, they would be prosecuted and publicized, and rightly so.)
You missed the overall point. The message is timeless.
Just what I thought... 101. She went back 50 years to let us know why she's a victim now. Guess what... black girls are not turned away from ballet class anymore! Because people DID change! But it's never enough. She's speaking like no one wants to help anyone who's different. Leftists require you change until there's no longer any discrepancy of thought. Identity politics. She lets you know who the victims are and that their only flaw is having trouble letting "unlikely allies" help them out. In 2020 this is an insult to Miss Annes memory and those like me who agree with her actions. "The fight for equity" will never be over because the definition of equity constantly changes. This insures the fight can go on as if no change has occurred at all. Disgraceful.
the problem is that in america, discussions of race only inlcude white, black, and sometimes latinos... everyone else is ignored, big turn off if youre looking for 'allies'

What is the carbon footprint of the military industrial complex?
A wonderful talk from a wonderful woman.
This woman is not fighting for justice. Justice is inherently individualistic, only individuals can think. The words she’s using are all new words that are meant to confuse and brainwash you. This woman is a conscious liar, or she is so resentful about the past that she confirms her biases here in the future with her past. She uses terms like “cis” “boomer” “ally” and “gen Xer” as if these are real things. No one claims these labels, these labels are all attacks. This woman is attacking and fighting fire with fire. She is leading you all off a vengeful cliff. You did nothing wrong, you aren’t racist unless you prioritize race like this woman does.
Well, no one can cgange their heritage anyway, we can only cgange our behsviour and views. I believe, that this speaker does not attac people who really deserve this. If your existance is based on others artificially created misery, then you are predstor and you really do wrong things with lives of others. Justice can't be onesided definition.

The kind of unfair treatment you got as a kid is as good as gone. Women and men are earning the same for the same jobs. Justice is not a mob or people complaining, it's a system designed to make sure everybody is advocated for and treated fairly. Don't set development in reverse by seeing everything through intersectionality and victimhood lenses.
Discrediting a person’s life experience because you don’t experience it yourself is exactly what’s wrong with our society.
So when would you say racism ended? When slaves were freed? When Blacks were counted as 3/5ths of a person? When they got the right to vote? After the Tulsa massacre? After we elected a Black president? After Breonna Taylor and Elijah McClain were killed and their killers yet to face even a facsimile of accountability or justice? Your sentiments have been repeated throughout all of history by White men who insisted that marginalized people have had justice served already so we should shut up and be grateful for the scraps we have been given. It's naive, wishful thinking, and simply ignores the lived experiences of millions of people across the country. All because you are scared to look inward and face that the system you have been indoctrinated to accept is not as just as you would expect it to be; that the education you have been raised with may have been based on lies; that you may need to broaden your circles and experiences if you want to have the information to think more critically about what is happening in the world.
pjihae Sometimes I think it is less fear of looking at it, and simple inability. A lot of people don’t have the right mindset (and have not been educated to have it), and need an event to help them see where and how the system is stacked against people within it. George Floyd’s tragic death was that for many people, but it would still seem that it is not enough.
pjihae slavery still exists in regions of Africa and Asia to this day. Genocide is still a once a generational n occurrence in regions of Africa and Asia. If you’re so worried about slavery and oppression that existed in the past in the USA then perhaps you should look towards Africa and Asia where genocide, slavery and brutal oppressive n are occurring right now. Stop spouting this nonsense fantasy of systemic racism in America. There are more black millionaires in the USA than all other nations of the world combined. That shows us if they can do it anyone in America can do it REGARDLESS OF THEIR SKIN COLOR. Cry me a river privileged poc in America.
@@yolandaponkers1581 That's an accusation without content, and generally meaningless.
Usually it refers to subjective interpretation of anecdotal evidence, which is not something that can be regarded as undisputable fact.

9:36 Wow. There it is again. Equity. You rant and rant about equality and then call for equity. Either you don't know they are different, or you know exactly what you're doing. Either way is terrible🤦♂️
"Why don't men lead the charge for pay equity for women?"
Just because there is an inequality does not necessarily mean there is unjust discrimination. Sorry, the gender pay gap has not been proven to be due to sexism. Men work longer hours, do more dangerous jobs, and are more aggressive negotiators for salary. Obviously there is some level of sexism, but it isn't clear at all to what degree. To just make a blanket statement implying people deserve pay equity just because they're women isn't very smart.
But you stated that there is a level of sexism. So if we all want equality, why should this be a problem? And I feel the general argument at hand is that a woman can do the SAME JOB as a man but still be underpaid.
