I love this series but my only complaint is that it’s hard to notice that a video is part of the series cause there isn’t a name for it. I clicked on this video because I like your content but I didn’t know the video would be about leather.
Historically, my videos have not had great engagement from my audience when I’ve done ingredient-focused videos and put it in the title/thumbnail. I’m trying to appeal this kind of content to a wider audience, and I’m experimenting with different approaches. 🙏🏾
Tuscan Leather to me reminds me of the Leather in the old fire engine my dad worked in. Smoky Leather and it smells like well used car seats with smoke. Very nostalgic.
I think my three favorite leathers are Leather Tabac, Godolphin, and Tuscan Leather. Honorable mention for Tuscan King (Mashup of Aventus and Tuscan Leather) and Roja Great Britain.
Dior Homme Parfum I think is one of the most accessible Leathers - a Leather fragrance for people who don’t like Leather. I don’t really love the note of Leather on myself (though I do love the way it smells), but that drydown of DHP is just to die for. I was surprised to not see Russian Tea on this list given your fondness for it! Definitely a few interesting new fragrances to try and sample, Rich Mess sounds particularly interesting...
I was thinking an additional category of great fragrances with leather involved, but not necessarily the main note would be cool for beginners. I would put the original Dior Homme line in that category (Valentino Uomo Intense, too.) I would also add the L’homme Ideal line and Beloved Man by Amouage. Some of my favorites at least. Would highly recommend trying them based on your take.
to me, DHP isn’t really a leather scent, there’s just so much going on. most prominent thing to me is the slightly fresh/sweet yet dark iris, maybe a hint of oud and leather. one guy smelled it on me and said i smell like cocoa butter with polo cologne😂
I want to explore more in leather fragrances. I used to ride horses for a while, and I actually LOVED that smell of being in the barn, with the tack and everything. I recently got a sample of SHL Crying if Evil, which I'm considering putting on my wishlist, and I know I've mentioned Tony Iommi to you a couple times 😅, but it is pretty amazing. Also a little surprised you didn't mention any Argos' ones. I just got the discovery set, and I'm starting to work my way through them.
Great series! I’m definitely coming around more to leather fragrances. Im a big fan of John Varvatos Dark Rebel and Rebel Rider it maybe a little redundant but i’m really enjoying them both this time of year on an evening out.
I've just picked up Black's Club Leather by Shay & Blue and can wholeheartedly recommend it. There's some booze in there but it still comes across as clean and easily wearable but intriguing. I wore it to the office today and didn't feel worried my coworkers would think I'd been drinking cognac for breakfast. Really solid stuff.
I'm wearing TF Hombre Leather at work today and it is near masterpiece level. Memo Paris' African Leather is an absolute masterpiece in my opinion and is blind buy worthy.
Two leathers I'd put on your third tier: Knize Ten (a classic among classics that still smells great, but gets less attention than it did even a decade ago) and Tauer's Lonestar Memories (a huge, intensely smoky leather that is more wearable than a first impression might suggest). Love this series (tho I agree with those who think the titles should indicate that the video is in it and the note on which it focuses).
For a cheap gem of a leather fragrance - Ahmed Al Maghribi Leather. Said to be a close clone of Tuscan Leather. I haven't tried that but did have Nishane Suede et Safran. Sold it due to the gingery musk being too much for me in the first couple of hours. Ahmed Al Maghribi smells very very similar and without the component i didn't enjoy. This cost me a little over £20 and is nicely presented too. Good quality, oily on skin.
I’ve always owned a few leather fragrances but never loved them. As my nose matured I’ve been loving them more. I recently layered Ombré Leather with Lost Cherry. Man man man!!
Bottega Veneta Pour Homme for me has almost become my signature scent since 2016. I am obsessed with Memo African Leather. DHP is a staple and I am interested in trying Zaharoff Leather Tabac
I have been watching you for many years from the beginning of your journey all the way up to now. Just wanted to thank you for the great content Godbless and much success. On side bar I started following you being a enthusiast and a collector myself. My biggest reasoning wasn't anything else but that you reminded me of my friend Ben. I thought it was hilarious. In a good way. To me it really doesn't matter how you start following someone's channel that was just my way of starting to follow your channel.
Definitely will have to add Leather Tabac to my Zaharoff collection…. I agree…. GG Absolute is a designer masterpiece. I’ve actually worn it in office settings, just a couple sprays… with great results. As you say, it’s not one you want to reach out with…. I find many leather based fragrances become “too much / off putting” when over sprayed.. Find the sweet spot and GGA can do wonders…
This is a very useful video for me. While I haven't talked about it yet, I've been focused on strengthening my over all collection. Filling in the gaps. One weakness I had in my collection is Learher. Had a select few that were flirting with leather, 1 with a decent leather note. Recently bought the Leather Tobac and of course very happy. A video Like this I will certainly put to use.
I just really love this type of content Justin. The set-up with the three levels and the way you describe the perfumes you choose for us is sublime (almost ASMR). Too bad leather just isn't my type of note in a perfume. The smell when wearing a leather jacket, or whatever, is something I do like, but funny enough not in a perfume. I'm curious about what the next note or maybe something from the fragrance wheel, is going to be.
I'm intrigued by Fetish. I've been getting into some of the funkier animalics lately and have found they can be so gorgeous and elevated if done right. I need to get a sample of that one.
I bit the bullet and picked up a few of your fragrance choices. First, I did the Chris Collins African Rooibos, then Thameen Cords (both decants). But I've also got a full bottle of AR coming, cause I got greedy! 😏😉
Love this series. It's a great concept. I would have to say Milano is one of my favorites FDB frags. Great suggestions. And Im currently waiting on 10ml of Leather Tabac
I have had Tuscan leather for about 12 years and do prefer it over Ombre, but I do get that Ombre is more wearable. African leather is AMAZING, it is on my wish list, but it is beast mode. It lasted for 3 weeks on a paper tester!! Love Botega, went through a bottle long time ago, would love to get my hands on one again. Milano & Kassar sounds interesting. Signature leather tabac even more! Love Gucci Guilty Absolute! You can still find it here in Dubai in the Gucci store, duty free and other major outlets. Rich Mess and Fetish sounds very intriguing. I also love Halfeti Leather though I feel it is more sweet spicey than leathery.
I haven't tried GG Absolute... but when I picture the combination of leather and band-aid and a doctor's office, I'm getting old-fashioned surgery vibes. "Strap down the bloke gently. We don't want him squirming too much as we drill into his skull..." Like from before the time of anesthesia. I know I also still want to sample African Leather, from the expression on your face when you hold that Rich Mess bottle and totally unapologetic proclaim it's exactly what it says on the bottle... I kinda feel sold on that concept already. And Roja's Fetish might not be for everyone, but it should be Frankenstein's signature scent, especially when people cut off body parts for it and let those linger about. Oh, and the honorable mentions deserve Dior Homme Parfum. I'm sure others will mention that too.
Hi Justin. Tx for video. We love U. I have ombre leather and yukawam.Beautiful. I agree, Gucci Guilty absolute is masterpiece. I bought big bottle on discount and i love it, reminde me on extra expencive LV Noveau Monde :). ❤🍀 from sunny 🇭🇷
I feel like it's beneath you, but I find that Azzaro Wanted Tonic has a very interesting leather note in the drydown that is quite nice on the back of a shower gel fragrance
Great work as usual. JC in mostly serious work mode doin articulate reviews. Thanks for the reminder re Gucci Guilty. And Omen. 🖐And using TF leathers as reference points.
I've enjoyed several of the Gucci Guilty flankers and I started hearing about Absolute. Mostly I heard terrible things. Well I've had some life experiences that have pretty much destroyed my ability to be afraid, so I bought an original from Gucci sample. Now me, when I'm testing out fragrances, I like doing about three blasts to the chest and stomach to let the fragrance waft up from under my shirt while I lay back and play video games or watch a movie. So the fragrance...I didn't hate it. I don't love it, but I think it's beautiful in its own right. It's not something I would wear at the moment. And I discovered the note combination that seems to make up the base for so many fragrances of which I'm not a fan. The notes are vetiver, cedar, patchouli and grapefruit. I have found this combo in several fragrances that seem have a similar scent, Kenneth Cole RSVP being one of those. So because I tried Absolute despite the fact that I might hate it, I figured out the note combination that I'm really not a fan of and now when I'm looking on Fragrantica, I can sort through several fragrances and find new ones that I want to try. And, I really love this experience of smelling these fragrances because it's such an amazing adventure. I almost want to just dive into the deep end and find the most inaccessible fragrances to try. While I contemplate that thought, my goal is to find a stronger version of Lucky For You (men's version) even if it takes a niche fragrance that's close but not exact.
I'm not sure if you've sampled this one, but its a beautiful, very high quality leather. Leather Rouge by Harris Miller. It smells like the name implies; gorgeous red leather. Has tuscan leather vibes, but better of course.
Love to see you do reaction video content. Such as celebrity fav from GQ, or non-fraghead high profile RUclipsrs, new frag press releases. Can still keep things positive without beating down on people, unless it’s justified ofc 😊
You should smell Island Lush by Goldfield & Banks. It has a tropical vibe, but also has that l play dough smell that you smell in Le Lion. It is very good.
I have 2 leather fragrances that I blind bought. Ombré leather and Ferrari intense leather. I enjoy smelling them off the atomizer, but I never dared to wear them. I’m not sure people would like that note.
Just got Leather Tabac last week. Unbelievable how strong it is. Sprayed it in the morning and I could smell it on me the next day. 1 spray max. Quite naughty with that cumin.
I find Bottega Veneta EDP for women is soo much better than the men's, also very "unisex". A great signature scent for men who don't wanna smell like everybody else.
Love the three tier edition. 😉 It is hard to categorise it (I think enthusiastic), but my favourite leathers are Testa di Moro by Salvatore Ferragamo and Tuscan Leather Intense by Tom Ford (though that might be intrigued, it is mildly complex). There, my $0.02 what about comment. 😇
The Signature Leather Tabac is so good! You are correct...very strong, like 2 spray maximum for me and I'm usually a 4-6 spray kind of guy. Wore it Monday and can not wait to wear it again. My bottle of 2nd Soul is arriving today, so I know what I'll be wearing tomorrow. Thanks for another great video. I like the ingredient focused videos better than what most people are doing, and talk about where to wear the fragrance(office fragrance or date night fragrance). I think a lot of us are interested in what fragrances fall into what categories(leather, tobacco, Blue, etc.)
Ambre leather >>>>>>>> Ombre leather for a 10th of the price. Second best leather on the market: Daniel Josier - Green leather. Not sure if to count Ganymede since it is so much more.
I have Dark Lord by Kilian and that is the top tier of my leather forward scents. The Gucci is a close second in terms of how daring it is. Tuscan leather or hombre leather I have also and they don’t challenge me nearly as much as those. I like leather a lot. Probably as much as I love vetiver. I’d love to see a part two of this maybe with recommendations that are safe for daytime wear in each season.
Justin, just wanted to tell you I had a woman hunt me down at work and ask what scent I was wearing, it was 2nd soul. I showed her and immediately she got a bottle for her husband. Stuff is a masterpiece

I have smelled most in that lineup. For me, Zaharoff Signature Leather Tabac is the best. It isn't for everyone but holy crap it is complex and rich!
A great niche alternative to Tuscan Leather is Oro 1920 by Bois 1920. I only own a sample but im already obsessed by this scent, it is so good!
Love you educated approach to fragrances. Love how your personality shines through this area. You absolutely nailed the content

Running With Wolves just sounds super cool!
It is!

My favourites are Memo Sicilian leather, African leather and Sospiro Erba leather so far.

That’s by far my favourite Gucci fragrance. Dressed smartly, 1 spray on the back of the neck or 1 spray on each collar bone…..it’s a killer!
Love this series. It's a great concept. I would have to say Milano is one of my favorites FDB frags. Great suggestions. And Im currently waiting on 10ml of Leather Tabac
Great content. Another cologne that reminds me of Tuscan Leather is RO by anaxus perfumes. Peach is the prominent sweet note. And its long lasting.

Oh, and the honorable mentions deserve Dior Homme Parfum. I'm sure others will mention that too.
Great video JC!! Man, you're always bringing something different and I love it! Keep up the great work!
My 3 levels of leather are IM’s Noir Argent, TF Ombre Leather and Memo Iberian Leather. Oh and Fahrenheit used to my signature back in the day
Super solid list! Some known several unknown to me, which is greatly appreciated. Always on point brotha. Keep ‘em coming!
Thank you Jerome!

I need to try this!
Very interesting video . You need to try no limits Philip Plein. The normal version or the skull versión . Youre gonna love them 🤜
I have 3. Ombre leather- Memo African leather.- Gucci. Need to sample- leather tabac and rich mess. Kudos
In level 2 I'd say Boss Bottled Absolu would be great. Not a full head on slap in the face leather. Just rather subtle.
Another safe beginner/starter leather fragrance is recently smelled and liked is Salvatore Ferragamo Spicy leather 👌🏿👌🏿
Love to see you do reaction video content. Such as celebrity fav from GQ, or non-fraghead high profile RUclipsrs, new frag press releases. Can still keep things positive without beating down on people, unless it’s justified ofc 😊

Ombre Leather EDP...my wife's favorite fragrance of mine.
Signature leather tabac is amazing, it's also a MONSTER
I have 2 leather fragrances that I blind bought. Ombré leather and Ferrari intense leather. I enjoy smelling them off the atomizer, but I never dared to wear them. I’m not sure people would like that note.
Bottega Veneta PH, spot on! Very refined but easy going.
Just got Leather Tabac last week. Unbelievable how strong it is. Sprayed it in the morning and I could smell it on me the next day. 1 spray max. Quite naughty with that cumin.

Would love to get your thoughts on Byredo Black Saffron

Mancera Saharian Wind is must as far as leather.
African Leather a recent discovery of mine! I couldn't recommend it more, Smells like what I imagine a wealthy leopard would 🐆
I was content to not having any leather frags in my collection until I ran into that one. Wore it to a Medical appointment, big hit with the nurses!
The Signature Leather Tabac is so good! You are correct...very strong, like 2 spray maximum for me and I'm usually a 4-6 spray kind of guy. Wore it Monday and can not wait to wear it again. Very well constructed and beneficial video! Good taste love the loose jokes 😂✊🏼
Love the concept.
Another great video Brother
Thanks for the reviews
3 heavy hitters were honorable mentions! Lol 👏🏼 good content 👍🏼
Gucci Guilty Absolute isn't that challenging to me. It is, however, super stunning. Great picks J
Sandalwood for your next one please!
African leather or ombre leather
Ambre leather >>>>>>>> Ombre leather for a 10th of the price. Second best leather on the market: Daniel Josier - Green leather. Not sure if to count Ganymede since it is so much more.
Have you tried To my Father by Vilhelm? If so, would you consider it a leather or more a boozy fragrance? Worthwhile buy?
I haven't!
I'd buy an aftershave off this guy just off how relaxing and silky smooth his voice is 😂
So glad to see Fetish here
I think Gucci guilty smells easy to wear for me! No one around me agrees though haha! One of my favorites!
Man, I learned a bunch of news ones today!
African leather is beautiful
Such an educational series this is, beautifully descriptive appraisal of each fragrance. High-level content indeed.
I’m the 888th like 🤯 I’m definitely going to check out running with wolves. It will be my first leather scent
I hope you enjoy it
Thanks!
Thank you!!
Hey Justin, is it just me or is the audio not playing on this video? I was just watching other videos and the sound worked
Never mind it's working it was my phone's fault lmao
I have Dark Lord by Kilian and that is the top tier of my leather forward scents. The Gucci is a close second in terms of how daring it is. Tuscan leather or hombre leather I have also and they don’t challenge me nearly as much as those. I like leather a lot. Probably as much as I love vetiver. I’d love to see a part two of this maybe with recommendations that are safe for daytime wear in each season.
It's hard to Honorable Mention the Tom Fords. They are a cut above the rest. Leather pun humor here
I only wear leather fragrances when I want the room to myself.
Justin, just wanted to tell you I had a woman hunt me down at work and ask what scent I was wearing, it was 2nd soul. I showed her and immediately she got a bottle for her husband. Stuff is a masterpiece
Love it! Thank you Andrew.
Not a fan of Ombre Leather Parfum. Smells like a more chemical leather to me.
👍🏽
Leather is one of my favorite notes! Let's see...
Untamed from VANCOUVER BC wooo. my city
