Wow! That’s a beauty! You’re right about relationships. It’s the fabric & the glue of everything. Everything! Doesn’t matter what you ride. What does matter is that you love it. Nothing is perfect. Only perfect for you.
I had 2 Ks. Used 16 GTLE and new GA. Fun to ride, yes. Great shift assist, yes. Strong engine, yes. Sounds good, yes. Having said that, I will never own another K again. RT, maybe? I like the new style RT. The Ks, as long as they ride with no issues, its a winner, BUT if they start to cause problems, forget it, man. PIS bike to work on, service is expensive!!! At times, you need to hold for parts and dealers never have a loaner when you need it. Dealers in the USA are dropping. I refused to ride 1.5 hours to the nearest dealer. The GA had all kind of design issues as well. Was very disappointed. The RT, however is know to be a reliable bike. I was at the dealer with the K too many times. I HOPE.....you will not have issues with it. and, I hope you are a handy guy to do work on your own. I sold the Ks and bought a new Goldwing DCT Tour and I so regret not getting it sooner. I swear, the best bike I have owned in 35 years on 2 wheels.
@@KendallAdventureandTravel Good luck, Dave. Some swear, no issues or minor, some had enough. I had enough with BMW. The head mechanic at a very large BMW had told me that the K's can be finicky, at times. hard to explain. Very complicated machine. Also, as she rakes miles, keep an eye on oil level. They are known to eat oil.
@@KendallAdventureandTravelDave: Did you ever consider getting a Honda Africa Twin. Sort of a smaller bike, and probably not necessarily a better road bike than your GSA. Also, say you tried the Goldwing and loved it. Would you have went with the DCT or Manual. Love the videos. Will be watching what you do with the GT. Ride safe.
@@waltermitty7452 I never considered the Africa Twin, I wanted a more road bike, as far as the GW DCT, I will say I did think of it as everyone that has one says they are great...Dave
Good one . I had a BMW GTL for 20,000 miles. I loved it. i remember saying to myself it's just too good. I now have a 2021 BMS 1250 GSA. the GSA has 47,000 miles. Good choice.
I wasn't expecting you to go with the K bike! You've rekindled the possibility of trading in my '22 road glide on one. Looking forward to update videos! Stay safe out there!
BMWs are great bikes, but BMW stands for Bring More Wallet. I have owned 5 BMWs, (K75s, R1150RT, K1200s, K1600GT and K1600GTL) all bikes were very comfortable, but apart from the K75s all were expensive to own. I know ride a K1600GTL and enjoy the power and comfort and extras. I also owned a FJR which was a great and reliable bike, but needed a different seat. I think that you made a great choice with the GT, I hope that it brings you lots of smiles. Stay Upright and enjoy
I've got a '22 GT and it has been trouble free. It is a sweet machine for chewing up highway miles at high speed. Just put a set of Road 6GT's on it and am loving them.
Congratulations! I know you will have a lot of fun with it. I had a 2013 GTL and it was a great experience. The bike had plenty of power & torque for any situation. The only 3 problems that I didn’t like about it was the MPG, was a lot like 1250 GSA, the saddle of course lol and the radio, I just couldn’t here it at highway speeds. That wasn’t really important for me but if it on the bike then why not use it
I was in a similar predicament, except that my two choices were the R1250RT and K1600GT, and I was coming off a 2016 Multistrada. I wanted something more refined with better wind/weather protection and something that I could still throw around in the twisties. I ended up with a 2022 K1600GT and have been very happy with it!
Good decision. I'm on my second GT. You won't regret it. I believe MapleFarkles has a workable AUX tank solution. (No affilliation) Mine is a semi stock 2019 and is very capable for distance riding. Good luck and see you down the road. Joe
woohoo!!!! looks great! The dealer experience is so important... the side by side folks at Honda, have really taken too much focus away from motorcycles...
A good choice. I love my Tech so I passed on the GT because it did not have active cruise control. I ended up with a 1300 GS and it's super comfortable. If you want to put Apple CarPlay on that bike there are a lot of options.
Congrats, nice whip! I have to ask, no consideration to ever going back to a Harley Touring bike or trying an Indian? Going from an Ultra Limited to a 1250 GS I have my personal thoughts as to why I wouldn't, but would love to hear yours.
Boom! I knew it would be hard to pass up a GT. My GTL is quite a bike, but so is my Goldwing DCT Tour. Too bad that Honda dealership was a loser. maybe a visit to a Honda dealer in Riverside would’ve given you the chance to see how great the GWs are. It will be fun to follow along as you outfit your bike for an IBR.
Awesome! FWIW - Southern Honda in EastRidge Tennessee. I have two of the bikes you considered K1600 GTLE and FJR1300. Looking to trade both for a GW or a GSA - maybe both. I have some Alaska destinations that the GW just doesn't fit.

Beautiful bike! Safe travels with it!
Thanks...Dave
Very cool Dave. I look forward to more about this bike!
Thanks, Im excited to sort this out...Dave
Congratulations!
Thanks Paul
Nice. Thanks for sharing. I have its little brother - 2020 RT. Love it too.
I really had a struggle with my decision between the 2 bikes..
Looking forward to seeing new bike in person.

Yes! I want to see what options you come up with on the auxillary tank.
Working on that as we speak...Dave

With that black and white paint scheme all you need now is a black/white 3/4 helmet and the lanes will open up like the Red Sea :)
BAHAHA I wish I was that lucky! Dave

I don't like the adaptive cruise in my car so I didn't care that it didn't have it on this bike, now adding apple car play is interesting...Dave

Nice looking bike. I thought all the Ib/ld riders pick up their BMWs from hermys
Allot of riders, do its just a long way for me in Texas, and I was shopping very bike specific
I wish you would have at least test rode the GW. It is a great bike.
I know it is, and honestly it checked more boxes than any other bike...Dave
with the gold wing you can fly to the moon
I like the optimism. Dave
