Great video and review, Alex. I got my hands on the GRIIIx just a few months ago and wouldn’t be without it, it’s with me every day, just like my phone. It was hard to get the camera in the first place, everywhere seemingly sold out; though after ringing around I found a single camera at a shop 30 minutes away by train. I grabbed it and it’s been one of the best purchases I’ve ever made. It’s a creative beast, with ‘Hi contrast B&W’ and ‘Retro film’ being my current favourite film simulation modes. Keep up with the great content! 👍📷😎
Thank you so much for watching Jonathan! And congrats on getting your hands on the Ricoh GR3X. It must have been an exciting trip! Yes, one of the strongest points of the ricoh is that you always have it with you. I get so many more photos with the ricoh just because of its size. I should try some more black and white photography now that the sun is out and stronger. Thank you so much for the support. Happy shooting!
Thank you!!! Great review and SUPER helpful! I LOVE these cameras. I have the Ricoh GR digital iv from 2011 and plan to upgrade soon. Your review has been very complete and I have learned a ton! : )
Used my GR3x for almost a year, had weird behavior two or three times when camera suddenly shut down without hiding lens. I think its all about battery compartment which is a little loose and camera lose contact with battery, especially during some shaking when walking with camera in hands. And more so when battery contacts become a little dirty, cause i use 2 spare batteries, that live in my pocket during walks. So I put a little amount of electrical tape around my batteries for more tight fit and once in a month clean contact pads on all my batteries with simple pencil eraser - result is no more sudden shutdowns for my Ricoh) ps. great review ^)
@@alekseevphoto Wow, sorry you had to go through that. I also had my lens not retract once. It was during a heavy rain so i just figured that my Ricoh was acting up due to the humidity. Thanks for sharing and thanks for watching!
@@AlexKimPhoto well, actually it didn't bother me much - just small nuance with easy solution. It doesn't make GR any worse - it's brilliant little camera)
Thank you for such a comprehensive and sensible review. I really like the idea of this camera, but no weather sealing, viewfinder or flip screen make it, possibly, too expensive? I very much value all 3 of those features. I could make do with a generic viewfinder for the hot shoe, but no waist-level shooting or damp weather shooting is pretty hard to swallow. The UK can be very humid in summer too...Anyway, thanks again for the review and some lovely photos!
@@m.s.g1890 Yes, I can understand where you are coming from. Although you can practice and get better at “blindly” shooting from the hip, you can’t really overcome weather-sealing. Especially in places that it rains often like the UK (we have rain seasons here in South Korea too). I love to shoot in the rain so I am wishing for weather-sealing in GR4x. Thank you so much for watching! Hope you have a good day!
Excellent review! Love my GRIiix but I’m leaning towards pulling the trigger in the new Leica D-Lux 8 for size and variable range of 24-75 and included how shoe flash it might be the better choice as an round travelling camera to my other Fuji T5 As a suggestion it wold be nice if you did a comparison on a future video on the GR3x & Leica D-lux 8
bro started strong early in the review, IMO nothing could come close to the SnapFocus on that lil beast. hopefully i could pick up a used GRiii when i'm going back to Japan next year. nowadays the GR prices are still on the high side lol.
Thanks a lot watching my review! As I got used to this camera, I mostly stay on the snap focus mode. Really is a great feature. Hope you get your GR3 in Japan🤞and have a nice trip. I’m jealous!
There’s no disconnection in wide angle. Is that you are not close enough 😉 This is personal preference, I know, but I do prefer as a photographer and as a viewer when I’m immerse in the action, rather than a spectator from distance. Love the Ricoh GR. I got the HDF, my first, and I love it, even considering high compromises (WR, low light AF or even AF in general, for me).
Yes, that is why I did not forget to say “unless it was shot up really close” 😁 I do enjoy wide angle lenses when it is used really well. But I just felt that wide angle lenses are more difficult to use “correctly”. Congrats on getting your GR! I heard it is close to impossible to get it these days. Glad to hear you love it cuz I feel the same way too haha Thank you for the comment and thank you for watching my review!
HEY! I love snap focus on my Ricoh Gr IIIx. Lets me capture so much that I would have missed otherwise. I just put out a short where I use it to catch cool shots of my wriggly dog who cannot sit still lol. Check it out if you got 56 seconds to spare. Love your shots by the way. Don't you just love hoe close you can get discretely with this lil thing? Thanks for sharing Subbed!

Thanks for the video Alex. Very helpful ! it's backordered unfortunately! too popular! Great photos!
Yes it is a shame about the backorder. Same situation here in Korea unfortunately. Hope you get it the next chance! Thank you so much for watching

@@alekseevphoto Good to hear that! Yes the GR3x really is brilliant :) I love it
I also had to put some gaffer tape on the battery to stop the random shut down problem
Thanks man, very useful video!
