    Get a used battery and reconnect the GPS unit to it and place the battery and unit on a super shitty/muddy two-track road out in no where so when the repo truck goes looking for the vehicle they end up wasting time and may even get stuck.

      @#BoycottShingrix or place the GPS unit in Mexico in a drug cartel zone but close to the US/Mexico border so they might be stupid enough to try and get it.

    Holy shit yooo thank you that worked a lot.!! I just paid my car off and run into a battery problem. The killswitch died and the car won’t turn on. The people that can’t understand this is because he’s give an example on where the kill switch could possibly be located. It’s basic electrical plug and play. Yet be sure to remember what you’ve unplugged

    I just have a question and I can only get decent answers on RUclips so here goes… I purchased a 2014 Chevy Captiva 5 years ago... which is a midsize suv. I have kept up the maintenance and have never really had any problems with this car except for a water pump or thermostat or something like that. I keep my oil changes up to date as well as a new battery and other basic maintenance. I recently reached over 100000 miles. I only owe $5000 on this loan but the vehicle is worth a $8000 blue book value because I managed to get a pretty decent deal when I got financed. Nevertheless, all of a sudden, the lights on my dashboard come on out of the clear blue. One of those lights was a traction light another light was a muffler light and another light was change the transmission fluid. I woke up 1 morning to drive my car to the Walmart to get my oil changed and my car started but it wouldn't move. My traction lighting was on however after taking my car to my usual mechanic he tried everything to get my car to move and told me that it was only firing on 2 cylinders. He tried everything to figure out why it would not fire on all cylinders and he even tried changing the spark plugs to no Avail. My car is now at a Chevrolet dealership. I have been warranty gouged by dealerships before so I am very leery about dealerships working on my vehicles. I said all of that to say this…. Is it possible that a company like General Motors or Ford can manipulate the computers in your car to disable your car so that you were either pay lots of money to get it fixed by them or that they will talk you into purchasing another car from them because they know you are close to paying off one car? Question? I'm feeling really paranoid right now. The mechanic is going to charge me $160 just to do a diagnostic. They want to do a diagnostic for each of the lights on on my dashboard which is $160 each. I don't know what else to do but I feel like I'm about to get taken to the cleaners. I just need to know if there is a way for companies to send signals to manipulate your computer in your car since they have said that it is computer related to make people think that their car is messed up when it really isn't. I have taken exceptionally good care of this car. I would appreciate any response. Thank you. Love your channel.

    • @Fetidaf
      @Fetidaf 3 года назад

      The manufacturer wouldn’t see any of the money you’re giving the dealer. So the short answer is no…
      But depending on the year of the car they theoretically _could_ do that but it’d be somewhat easy to fix, all you’d have to do is disconnect the battery. The computer could genuinely be messing up getting weird readings from all the sensors and whatnot which is likely the cause… but since it’s been a year I would hope you already know what the problem was.
      As an aside they also wouldn’t know if you’re ahead of payments or not, once it arrives at the dealer its not their issue anymore for the most part

      @vivillager 3 года назад +1

      @@jango67, I'm going to assume that you do not know how these units work, please forgive me if I'm explaining what you already know. Imagine a circuit, one necessary for starting the vehicle. Electricity starts at point A, end at Point B. Point A is the switch where you stick the key, and Point B is the starter for the engine (doesn't have to be the starter, just something necessary for the starter to work). There's a line that connects A and B. Now imagine that line being cut, electricity from A can no longer reach B, that means the car doesn't start. Now imagine a switch bridging the gap where the cut was made. As long as switch is on, circuit works. Switch is off, circuit doesn't work. Now imagine that switch being a special switch that is always off unless it gets a command from another device, that I'll call C. C isn't connected to the A-B circuit at all, it just connects to the switch that is in between A-B. If switch doesn't get the command from C, then switch is off, electricity from A never makes it to B, that means the car never starts. Component C is the tracking unit. If you cut the wires from the tracking unit, then the switch will never turn on, which means your car would be disabled. I'm not going to go further into theory of operation, I personally believe that the public has no reason to know how these units work.

    Keep in mind, disabling or removing a gps from your car is a violation of the sales contract. Read the fine print when signing your car sale contract. Not everyone does that, let's be real! In some states that's automatically grounds for repossession without due notice. It can also be illegal in some states and you can be charged with criminal damage to property. Remember the car is not your property until you hold a title to it with the lien released from the lender. In ilinois you can also be charged with concealment of collateral, if intent can be proved that you are trying to purposely hide the car. By removing the gps , this can be considered as just that. Also keep in mind. People are creatures of habit. If the gps has been on long enough before it's been disabled, it has a breadcrumb feature which tells the lender every place you've been, when and where. And all of this is legal because it was agreed upon by you at the time you signed your contract. Wether you read it or not. Keep in mind every state is different regarding Wether the lender or dealership has the legal obligation to disclose if the vehicle has a gps. Moral of the story, don't buy a car if you can't afford to make your payments! And if your a deadbeat, karma is a bitch.....and you reap what you sow.
