      @@BryanWentFishing we’re having unseasonably warm weather here in Ohio. I am working the election polls Tuesday and then off to fishing. My son in law wants to get out and chase some steelheads. Thanks

    I've been trying knots with forceps for 30 to 40 years now. They have held up great. You really don't need another knot. Good video

      Thank you very much. Yeah I agree, I noticed they're holding up better than my hand tied ones.

    Best tip I've seen in a long time. I have tremors and really struggle. Sometimes it a 20 minute job to tie on a fly. This looks like it would help a great deal. THANX.

    Love it! Whenever I want to change flies it usually takes me five minutes to take a seat on the bank and lots of fumbling around to do it properly. Thank you old hands and bad eyes! Most of the time I couldn’t be bothered! This method is potentially a game changer for me. Will try it next time

    Ha, that's an interesting way to do a clinch knot! When you first said forceps I expected you were going to do a Davy knot, there's a super fast way to do that one with forceps.

      Great suggestion! I've never tried the Davy knot on a fly to be honest. Is that your go to knot?

    Two improvements to knot.
    1. Lick it! Lick the knot this lubricates it. This is important as there is a lot of friction and heat produced when the knot tightens which can make know brittle. When you lock it it will tighten easier as well and you can use the traditional 8 twists instead of five.
    2. Get a combo Forceps/scissors called a scissor forceps. Then you are switching between a forceps and a nipper. And you can ditch the nipper and retractor thing. Less is more when Fly fishing. You can also pull on the hook with the forceps to tighten the know instead of putting down.

    • @BryanWentFishing
      @BryanWentFishing  4 месяца назад

      Love tip number 2! I tighten the knot by pulling the hook most of the time. Thanks for the input!

    Great idea- BUT DO NOT use an ordinary blood knot with fluro carbon as it will eventualy slip! Put the end back through the top loop and make a TUCKED blood knot. ALWAYS wet it before pulling it tight to stop the line burning it's self.

    Always lubricate your knots! Don't do it like this if you want the strongest knot with minimal effort.
