  • 5280 Angler fly fishing guide Jeremy Hamilton demonstrates how to tie a clinch knot using a forceps tool. This trick is invaluable, especially when temperatures drop. For purposes of the video, Jeremy uses backing material rather than tippet, and a bare hook rather than a fly. He ties both to the eye of the hook, and to the bend, as when building a multi-fly rig.
Be sure to moisten your knots before tightening.
    Good luck out there!

Interesting. When I do a dropper off a barbless hook bend I sometimes lose the bottom fly. For barbless hooks I would tie the dropper on the hook eye instead.
