    • @matthewdekker6064
      @matthewdekker6064 8 месяцев назад +17

I've heard that Sony was purposely obfuscating things for the actors, even on set, and essentially telling them that this was part of Marvel. Neither Dakota Johnson nor Sidney Sweeney seem to know anything about the Marvel (or Sony) movies, so I think they may have not realized that there was this weird relationship in the first place (and either their agents didn't know, or just didn't care).
There has been talk of Marvel possibly suing Sony for brand confusion and trying to get the full rights - not just for how they obfuscated things for the actors, but also for the audience. There have been at least several times where Sony was trying to advertise their movies as being part of the Marvel universe, and Marvel basically sent cease-and-desist letters to make Sony stop doing that. If Marvel sues, people would get to see all the texts and emails between Sony people about this relationship, and I'm sure that'll be pretty juicy.
And the reason why the same writers of Morbius were able to write this was because Morbius hadn't come out yet by the time they landed this movie as well. And the 2 main writers had previously written a Dracula movie script that had been on Hollywood's blacklist for a while, and they basically just got more opportunities because people liked that one script.

Yeah they probably did think they were getting into the MCU, but... so what? Let's not pretend this was some kind of genius plot to fool a bunch of prestigious actors in to doing a dud movie that is so far beneath their talents and abilities. They're all shit-tier actors who had nothing else to do, and they all got paid much more than they're worth.

The film would have worked better if Simms was just after Mary Parker because Peter Parker was destined to bring him down. Basically Terminator: Spider-Man edition. In regards to the fake Pepsi can; I can’t be too specific, but my friend’s girl works at a company specializing in post-production advertisement. Basically they film a green screen can and sell the space after the fact.
The idea is that soon they’ll be able to actually adjust adverts in something that’s already aired on streaming, like it could premiere as Pepsi but after the contract expires they could hypothetically edit the can to promote the highest bidder.

An Arkham movie, where Penguin or Two face or some crew is doing a bank heist or some kind of elaborate crime. Pan from the crime to the sky, and the bat symbol is in the sky. The Batman is never shown in the beginning but stalks the crew and picks them off one by one like the Alien movie. That would be a great superhero/horror movie

After seeing the movie, it's portrayal of the villain, the origins, the lack of the costumes, and very little connections to the character and comics, it makes me ask "What was the point of calling it "Madame Web"?" Aside from a few vague references to the Spider-Man franchise and the character names, there's little about this movie that actually relates to the original comics. Did they think that people were clambering for a movie about Madame Web? Would fans of the comics even turn up to see this film simply because it was called "Madame Web" despite barely replicating the character they loved was replicated on the big screen? Maybe the movie could've been a lot better if it was it's own supernatural thriller about a girl who can see the future and is chased by a serial killer. I feel you could've done more original and creative concepts than shoehorning in Uncle Ben because they had to. They could've just called this movie "The Clairvoyant" or something like that, and I can guarantee you it wouldn't have been this laughably bad and Dakota Johnson firing her agent. Hell, The Matrix (1999) is a more accurate Madame Web adaptation than this.
So let me say this to movie studios, if you can't replicate the character you're adapting into a movie: CALL IT SOMETHING ELSE!!!!
Branding something that's an adaptation of the comics may backfire and ruin the original series and fanbase. Movies like Spawn, Catwoman, and Steel killed their legacies to the public eye for a number of years. That's probably why Spawn's hype suddenly died after 1997 because of one bad movie and why we haven't seen him in a while. It does nothing but hurt the property in the long run. It will make a misconception from casual viewers who don't know the characters, and just anger those who are familiar.
The Incredibles was basically an animated Fantastic Four movie, Darkman was basically The Shadow, RoboCop was basically an R-rater Iron Man movie, Chronicles was basically X-Men, and Brightburn was basically Superman. But guess what? They weren't branded as "Fantastic Four", "The Shadow", "Iron Man", "X-Men", and "Superman"! And the characters don't share the names of what they were inspired by. They were "adaptations-in-spirit" only, and were hell of a lot better received than if they were actual adaptations. I just would've rather this movie be an homage in-spirit rather than a title.

My favorite part of this is that Cassie is a Paramedic, but clearly has no qualms stealing several Vehicles. She steals a Taxi cab. She drives the cab to the airport, presumably parks it in long term parking since she tells Uncle Ben she will only be gone a week. She goes to Peru for some exposition scenes, then drives it back to Uncle Ben's house to see if by chance the young ladies she is supposed to be protecting are still there. Even though she has abandoned them for a second time. Then she steals an Ambulance while the crew is in the middle of a rescue!!! I am glad I got to see this movie because every movie from now on will at least seem like a decent film compared to this.

And isn't it just too weird that the writers for Gods of Egypt, Dracula Untold, Madame Web, Morbius, The Last Witch Hunter and Power Rangers are the same writers? You can't really justify major studio interference for ALL those movies... The common denominator is that its the same writers. They're just bad writers. All their movies at their core just have bad and bland ideas.
''You have to be a very good writer to make a bad movie'' that's not even a saying. 55% of a movie's quality comes from its writing - you can have the best _everything else_ but if writing fails,, the entire movie fails.

As someone who’s in Hollywood, actively trying to break in and living vicariously through my more successful friends 😅 this is absolutely something that I see time and time again. Great scripts get notes from everyone, and they’re often not that great and stray from the writers’ original intent. It’s so disheartening when you see comments or hear certain podcasters blast “talentless” writers when folks truly have no idea what scripts go through before a single frame is shot or role is cast. So, thanks for sticking up for the writers at the start. 🙏🏾

Passively watched this on streaming and I noticed that there’s no plot. Characters are just saying non-sequential things to each other and some stunts happen.
For example, when they’re building up a “tense” scene and a train passenger randomly asks “Do you know where this train is going?”. Sir, you’re telling me you got on a random Long Island railroad train and you have no idea where you’re going? I’m convinced the majority of the dialog is there to have enough sonic presence to fill the runtime

Like, Dakota Johnson comes across as a non-actress. She doesn't act well in the movie, and in interviews, she's either clueless, or aloof. But the most surprising thing is that they cast Sydney Sweeney as a frumpy nerd chick.

Madame web origin same, but after its pretty much final destination sequel but with ezekial replaces death. As the movie goes on the women get powers, and madame web becomes ultra instinct until they overpower him and it ends like death proof on the side of the road and they continuously punch him to death.

If you actually listen, they explain how it takes real talent to be paid for any script in Hollywood, given the levels of competition. A movie isn’t made by the writers. Studios are especially to blame as they will turn an amazing script into hot garbage. Dolts on the internet that know nothing of the writing process just want to list the movies these writers were involved with, and feel like they are saying something witty.

    • @conormurphy4328
