4dbi antennas shoots an umbrella like signal straight up and drapes over the area of its shorter range. 8dbi antennas shoot signal straight out of it so they will reach farther distances as long as it's a clear line of sight. So the short of it, obstructed views use 4dbi, clear line of sight use the eight dbi.

10:49 an Antenna is a passive part. It will not magically increase your power output of the radio signal. Antannas are for "shaping" the radio signal, by making it "weaker" in one direction and making it stronger in another direction, xyz wise.
Yup! Googling it answers that real quick too. Lol! Especially when you're looking at different dbi antennas, since they will sometimes have visual aids for how it works.

From my research the higher DB changing the shape of the signal. Not necessarily a stronger or weaker signal but a higher DB narrows the signal

Was on a different video radio waves are seont out like an umbrella shape, said that a 3-4dbi, goes up higher so good for city to avoid buildings, 9dbi more for horizontal urban areas.
not sure what video editing software you are using , but most have a volume control based on clips. where you can raise and lower the volume in sections of the video.

Love the content but you need to speak up in your videos.
900 MHz frequencies are very congested, so there might be a lot of interference if you live in a big city. You also have to be mindful about the trees on your LoS. Event though ~900 MHZ signals tend to bounce/curve around obstacle, water (trees) weakens the signal.

The dbi of the antenna has to do with the shape of the spray of the waves. A 2dbi sends a 360degress spray of signal in a closer proximity. An 8dbi sends a signal more like a light house beam shaped signal further and more concentrated in about a 40 degree cone shape. 5dbi is in the middle

It's all about the dbi more height in a signal is a lower dbi a higher dbi its more funnelled. If you angle the antenna may help. It might help to reflect the rays out of your apartment.
i got the highest apartement so u recommend the stock antenna right? or lower dbi do you recommend a fiber antenna 5.8 instead the 3dbi plastic antenna from nebra ? so if u low ground urban you might get 8dbi right ? im a very noob if we talk about antennas :D
@@eddyc7500 probably also depends on other hotspots. If you download the app you can see who is around. The low dbi sends the signal up and out. If the terrain is flat then a higher dbi is better. Its like a fire vs a torch in radiants. For my circumstance a low dbi as I am in a valley, if the signal travel down the river could get a good range. If it travels up hill then its likely to give good connectivity to devices. I am fairly new to this tech, just studying everything.

Hmm so if it’s just in my house by a window the stock antenna would be better since it pushes up and over houses, but if it was on my roof and my area is flat with the same height buildings all around the higher ones would be useful
so does this mean if i live in a valley and all other hotspots are all behind the mountains there in no point on getting a mining devise?

FYI, you loose dBi over cable length, so more dBi can cover loss over a long antenna run.

@@ludovicpriso6972 more dBi is done with a larger antenna height, or the one that look like TV antenna give massive range, but are much more directional than the poles. The poles work in all or "omnidirectional". I was a RF(wireless mic) tech for over a decade....cheers!

If they also have their hotspot/antenna high up in the air it would be easier for you to connect though 😉😉
How about trees? Any idea about the odds of reaching a hotspot 1.3 km away with pine trees/forest filling most of the way in between (rising far above the hotspots)? Not much "line of sight" there I assume?

Im not sure what you mean by "use their miner" but you should definitely be able to use their miner as a witness if your antenna is strong enough and there is a clear line of sight

From what i have seen from the coverage map and the connections different hotspots make, it looks like they do not point in any specific direction, but spread out a full 360 degrees. If you click on a hotspot on the coverage map you can see all the connections it makes

Could you tell us about the outdoor miner 4G cell phone upgrade and will this increase mining range to connect with miners in nearby towns or is 4G primarily an alternative to Wifi access ? The info online is limited and kind of technical. I understand 4G requires a sim & a cell account and the device can be a data hog but I think people will be interested. I emailed the company too.
I am going to do some more research and will make sure to share what i find on here, im very interested in the development in that area as well
I contacted Nebra and Quectel in regards to 4G. I was trying to find if you can use for internet for other devices. They both never replied back... haha. I forget the website but I read specs for Quectel 4G card for Nebra has a subscription for 30gb a month which is enough for the miner ONLY.

Good content... but please get to the point. Felt like you kept repeating yourself.
Dood. 90% of people play the video and read comments after. You can have loud music in your intro, OR you can talk really soft in your intro. What you CANNOT do is talk really soft, so we all turn our volume to max, and then blast that overloaded noise. You are seriously damaging the hearing of those wearing headphones, and damaging speakers of those watching this on home theater systems with the volume up to hear your voice.
This is not ok. and your "sorry" below is like handing someone a note saying "sorry I screamed in your ear just now". It does NOTHING to help prevent the actual damage. You need to delete this upload, fix the audio, then re-upload.
