    Before you start with Helium mining, keep this in mind:
    - Line of site is crucial
    - One Helium hotspot is a waste of money
    - Your ROI depends on the Helium price
    - The official support is limited
    The Helium hotspot and the Helium network aims to create a decentralised network for the Internet of Things. This means an affordable solution for tracking sensors, temperatures and so forth. All of this in a decentralised way that guarantees privacy over your data.
    The question is: is it worth the investment/risk.

    Hey, great video was really helpful 😊 I’m just curious about having more than one in the same house. There is loads around me could they just not work of the ones around my area each. So for example if my neighbour was to want to do this could only one of us be able to do it because we are too close? If yes who gets priority? Thank you

    • @InvestorBren
      @InvestorBren  3 года назад

      same house is a no-go sadly as they have to be 300m apart as a minimum
      so you and your neighbour can't get points for checking in on each other. So you can't be a witness for each other. But you can both be a witness for a hotspot that is further away.
      how exactly you'll be splitting rewards or how it'll affect your income compared to being the only one that can provide coverage, I sadly don't know :(

    Great video man I’ll check out more. Maybe you answer this question in them.
    But, do you have only 1 at your place. And IF it connects to more, you make more with that one you own? I’m so confused

    • @InvestorBren
      @InvestorBren  3 года назад +1

      thanks :) and correct. You have different rewards: challenges, witness, consensus, etc.
      if you only get challenge rewards (meaning you are shouting in the air, but no one replies) you get maybe 1EUR a day, just enough to cover your costs. But if someone replies, then you can confirm their location (and the other way arround) which will get you witness rewards. Etc
      that is why you need to connect to more hotspots even if they are not yours. The goal is to help build the network and network coverage.
      So putting 1 hotspot that cant talk to anyone doesnt build a network.
      Putting 10 hotspots on top of each other in 1 room, doesnt build a network and is not rewarded either.

    Hope you can clarify this to me..
    Thanks!

    • @InvestorBren
      @InvestorBren  3 года назад +1

      thanks for watching and yes, you'll get some good rewards if they connect to each other :) you'll simply be the pioneers that build the network in your city :D and you'll get as much as anyone else who has 5 miners connecting. Doesn't matter if the miners are yours or from someone else. in this case they'll simply be all yours.
      Eventually when the network rewards shift to usage and not coverage, it'll also be up to you to promote the helium network to local businesses and hope they start using the network so you can get data usage rewards ;)

    Good Work. Line of sight is not mentioned anywhere. This means that none of the Indoor Miners will work? Is it good to buy Outdoor miner and mount on the roof?

    • @InvestorBren
      @InvestorBren  3 года назад

      no, if you put it at a window, the blockage of a window is minimal. And the signal can bounce of buildings, but then it loses strength of course. If you have clear line of sight you can cover serious distance and you are 100% certain you are in a good position. If there is no clear line of sight you know you might have issues. If it's only 1 building blocking, then don't worry to much if it's building after building after building, then it's time to worry
      hope that makes sense :)

    What is the optimal distance between miners? What distance is too far between miners?

    • @InvestorBren
      @InvestorBren  3 года назад +1

      minimal is 300 and optimal all depends on the location. Use the line of sight calculator, that is the most critical aspect of positioning your hotspot. With a good line of sight you can go several km's . With no line of sight, you can be happy to cover 300m

    great vids, but when I try to get the free Cloud-Rf tool, it says I have to login/register. But it seems now that it is required that I answer a question that I have no clue what the answer is?? What is the frequency, in megahertz to 1d.p, for a 1 metre wavelength? (Required) can anyone answer the question? thanks in advance if possible someone can help with that.

    so just bought the 5 dollar version my house is on a hill next to the downtown and i look down on the town.... only person with miners likely in the foreseeable future in my area.... just used the LoS and it says I am in the clear as I am putting it on the first floor of a shop my family owns across a river.... from my home.... there are some buildings in the way but they are really only like one 6 story building and a few lines of 2-3 story buildings (my shop is at the end of them) that technically block it but I have to imagine that the power of the signal is strong enough to cover it.... I am in the perfect greenspot zone that SHOULD be in a good area.... just afraid that somehow the website is lying to me about the line because it very visably shooting through one of the buildings that being said... the hill is giving me an advantage.... as my house is on top of it so thats the hill plus say 20+ feet.... so its still shooting through buildings it looks like though.... i mean like in massive concrete cities people still mine with the signal shooting through buildings somehow... like I should be fine right like I believe i heard someone say the RAK miner works like an umbrella rather than a straight shot line.... IDK how radio waves work so to any intelligent person regarding such things this should make sense

    • @InvestorBren
      @InvestorBren  3 года назад +1

      you are in the clear, one building (unless its right in front of your house) can't block the signal. And yes the antenna's send out a wide signal. Only when you go for a very high gain long distance antenna the signal becomes more narrow. But normally you don't have an antenna like that.
      Sounds to me you are in a perfect position to cover the entire city down below ;) Good luck & keep me posted

    As of August 2021, there will only be half the amount of HNT currently being supplied, so PoC reward will be less and less over time. so if you have HNT rn, hold on to it and don't sell. The long-term purpose of this hotspot is to transfer data and not PoC, so don't expect good return next year

      I know, that's why I am very, very dissapointed that Calchip has pushed my delivery for over 3 months and that Helium stopped giving out DIY keys making the platform more closed, rather then open and decentralized, my investment is becoming more risky by the day

    • @InvestorBren
      @InvestorBren  3 года назад

      yes, and now, with the new updates, probably best 3 . Or you have to know for sure that you can reach 2 other hotspots nearby. Hopefully if they stop posponing (waiting for 3 months now), I'll get my 3rd one and be able to test if its worth getting 3 over 2

    So i'm trying to understand, how does this actually work? do people connect to these hot spots and can use internet? How would one connect to the hot spot? Am i connecting my computer internet to this device and it sends my internet signal to the neighbourhood so someone can connect? Its quite concerning on the pour tutorial on this product.

    • @InvestorBren
      @InvestorBren  3 года назад

      So this is not a public wifi solution, this also excists but that's a different story/project .
      What this does is offer a network for IoT devices and people who pay a subscription at Helium will get access to the network. That's why the focus is now on building the network and the rewards focus on coverage. Without a big network, the project has no future/customers

    • @InvestorBren

      The stock antenna is no more powerfull as your smartphone and the frequency range is actually the free radio frequency. So very low power signal.
