AJA would be a great one for your consideration and not that awfully difficult. Thanks for the video. More Dan.

“Aja” the song, is actually a monster! Very long. But yeah, I would love to teach it. Thanks again for watching 🙏🏻🙏🏻

No problem! They are also displayed on the screen during the play through towards the end.

I remember seeing an interview with Donald Fagan and he was talking about how the later music of Steely Dan was not quite R&B and not quite jazz so neither R&B players or jazz players could quite get the rhythm. Do you know how Steely Dan got their name? It has to do with William S. Burroughs and "Naked Lunch". 😁

Thanks Pierre. You have given me inspiration to try the piano again. Now that I am recently retired I have the time. Do you know where or how I can get the sheet music of your arrangements ? It would save me rewinding the videos so much.

Thrilled to hear that! I haven't thought to make arrangements based on the lessons, but maybe if I make a course or something in the future, I'll do that! I always thought that these videos would be geared towards students who wanted to learn by rote and not deal with sheet music, but maybe I'm wrong? Curious to hear your input...

Another great video, Pierre! The Dan is my favorite band. I have one of their greatist hits songbooks and am working my way through Rikki Don't Lose That Number and Dr. Wu. Pretzel Logic will be a nice addition. Thanks!

Now I understand why Billy Joel’s Zanzibar is compared to Steely Dan.

I’m hearing something a little more on the left hand in the original song, G, Gflat, E then A Twice

You're the first to notice. Exactly right! I thought a basic version for this video would be more accessible to most, but yes the Wurlitzer plays the 7th, 6th and 5th descending in the left hand. I always add it in, personally. Thanks for watching!
