    What other maintenance do you recommend for a old bike? Thanks for watching!

    I just bought another one same year. Open Winter Trailer haul 100 Miles.

      I dont know how I missed this comment... But that is awesome. I was enticed by a local one on marketplace that just needs a clutch in theory.

      @@magnamole I was looking at that one too. Reverse fluid injection might clear that. Who knows. The mileage they put in the add is weird and it's been listed forever. I am on Lake Michigan. My newest vid is of the two Bikes I purchased over the winter. Cheers.

    I have the same bike and they have a bracket called superbrace it fits right under that aluminum cover I put one on and what a difference in steering you should get it for speed wobble

    • @magnamole
      @magnamole  Год назад +1

      Haven't had any issues yet with wobble, but I refreshed the front fork springs and oil this year. But I will definitely look into it! Thanks for being here and ride safe!

      There are some similarities but it depends on what parts you are looking for. A lot of the older Hondas share part between the models.

      @@magnamole I just bought the motorcycle. What I need is a file containing the part codes of these two models because the parts I'm looking for for my own engine are in the 750 magna model, where can I find the file containing the part codes for these compatibility?

    • @magnamole

      The best place I can say off the top of my head is partzilla.com. They will tell you what other bikes are compatible with that specific part. But I can look around when I get home

      Check out this link for some more information but probably cross referencing a site like Partzilla is the best bet. Bev4musclebike.com/forums/showthread.php?t=37121

    That bike was not built for gas mileage I know mine isn't but that's okay have fun with it anyway take care of that old girl

      I get about 140 miles to a tank, but that is bone dry. Fill up at 120 miles being safe. Maybe I should fix the fuel light lol

    I just crashed my 83 Honda magna 750 with 4,000 original miles on it it was identical to your same color everything lady pull out in front of me at 45 while I was taking my kid to school 3 weeks ago

      Brother, I am sorry to hear that. These bikes are beautiful and at 4000 miles I am sure yours was. Hope you are ok, and I hope you get back on two wheel when you are able!

      I'm sorry to hear that, most of all hope you and your child were ok and that your bike wasnt to badly damaged. Always be vigilant and aware of what's way ahead of you as well as right in front of you. Always assume someone is going to pull out in front of you that way you're ready to react as quickly as possible.

    83 has the better valve train. The only thing to watch is the Frame. at 480lbs the chase carries coolant and is bolted on. the frame always broke because. the 85 was 520lbs to add the frame strength. I thought the came with square headlight. nice video

    • @magnamole
      @magnamole  3 года назад +1

      Thanks! 82 came with a rectangle sealed beam, 83 early had a round sealed beam and switched mid year to halogen. I actually had a sealed beam headlight in mine, but I put a bucket and housing from a 86 Shadow I believe. Same size but allowed me to use a halogen bulb.

      @@magnamole looks like you need bolts for front of gas tank. Hiflofiltro oil filter and air filter are better than gimmick K&N . Three yellow wires you can solder and heat shrink, though I have seen replacement connectors but be sure to use dielectric grease if going that route . That is the original 83 headlight and you're right they were sealed beam and really dim, most people changed them to a halogen H4 replacement bulb type . Yours must be early 83, late 83 had halogens. I believe 84 or 85 they went to square. 83 V45 Sabers has square. As far as the frame cracking as mentioned, I never heard that before. I actually flipped my 82 V45 Magna at about 55mph it didn't faze that part of the frame. Though being as it does hold coolant I could see it possibly cracking if it had really old coolant or water in it and froze in the winter. The valve train on 82-83 were exact same, overall the entire bike was the same with exception to the carb jets and speedo reading 80mph on 82 and 150mph 83 and headlight change to halogen at some point in 83. Fork brace, only issue I had was when I flipped it it broke, I replaced it with the forks when I fixed my bike after wreck have been riding it passed 8+ years and 65,000+ miles and no issues. That issue was more common on V65s Be sure to watch the temperature gauge in hot weather lots of owners put a switch on so they can manualy turn fan on in traffic during hot weather . Excess heat is one of the many theories to the cams pitting along with lack of sufficient oiling lack of oil changes etc. I blew a headgasket not long after I got my bike I believe was from going to a huge summer time bike rally and sitting in traffic , I no longer go to those. Be easy while shifting as second gear is known to fail. Had it happen to me and replaced the motor with an eBay one that had very same issue. My experience is 50/50 chance second gear issue. Oil pump doesn't really start pumping oil to the cams till 3000+ rpms and they don't recommend lugging the engine bellow 3500 rpms. I've had the shifter linkage break on me twice which is another known issue from wear and tear. As long as you work the kinks out of it and keep up with maintenance these are really reliable bikes. You may even find yourself riding to parts stores for parts to fix your friends Harleys when they're broke down, no Joke. While working on the clutch, you must bleed the air out of the banjo bolt where the line connects to the master cylinder. V4Musclebike is a great source and wealth of information for these bikes. A well tuned V45 with an easy throttle hand can get you 42+ mpg, I had gotten 56 mpg one time on my 82 V45. Happy riding and keep the Shiney side up and rubber down .

    Dude actually show the removal of the filter and the process you went to get to it etc .. other than that, whats the purpose of this video? Seeing it being done would be helpful for some people.

      I do appreciate your feedback, but I did make this 3.5 years ago and it was my first video ever if I recall. But you are right that would be helpful, yet that wasn't my intent. I am just sharing my experience owning and riding my motorcycles, I do not usually attempt true "how to" videos, which are fairly hard to do well. Sorry if that is what you are looking for!
