The fact they actually got John Hurt for the Alien bit makes it even funnier
I hope she's ok. No reactions in seven months. I liked her.
The guy making the sound effects is Michael Winslow. He's more iconic in the Police Academy series where he started showing off his sound talents. He quit the acting business to support his family like Rick Moranis (Dark Helmet) did for his. Winslow then participated in America's Got Talent with his sound stuff. A lot of people recognized him off the bat, including Simon.
Moranis quit because he's a self-important prick who thinks himself better than the characters he was expected to play
Awesome
Now I need to check to see a clip from the show. Thanks for letting me know.
@@eskreskao he's still got it is all I can say.
My dad loved Michael Winslow, and he introduced me to Police Academy as well as Mel Brooks. He didn’t let me see Blazing Saddles until I was 17 😆, but I was curious about it from Robin Hood Men in Tights. And I can say with honour that I have continued my own quest into comedy and discovered the Marx Brothers on my own.
Are you not doing Reactions anymore ?
I really enjoyed yours
Have you quit RUclips?
Hope you are okay
She is she has another channel called Nox & Noah
Not sure why she is not posting on YT anymore, but I noticed a small amount of more recent activity on her Letterboxd link in the description. I hope she comes back soon.
"We aint found shit" has been lodged in a corner of my brain since the 80s and every time I think of it I still chuckle. Great reaction.
But why does the black guy have a pick? 😂😂😂😂
If you are a Star Trek fan the guy that says that line is Tim Russ who plays Commander Tuvok on Star Trek Voyager
😂😂😂😂😂
Hellooooooo.... are you there?
I found her she's on another channel called Nox & Noah
Where are you? Everything ok? Hopefully everything is good, thanks
I've seen a lot of reactions to this movie and this has to be my favorite. Most other reactors don't understand all of the references or fully appreciate the humor. You did both... and sang the theme to The Transformers. Bravo! 👏
BTW, there's another reactor, Jay Bond, who recently mentioned in a comment that you're one of his three favorite fellow reactors because you're "chill" (as in genuine and not overly dramatic). Just thought you might like hearing that.
8:34 "It's kind of a lot more slower-paced than I expected, but I like it. It gives us a little bit of time to, like, digest what we're seeing and hearing."
That used to be the case a lot more with movies.
Ain’t you doing anymore content?
I am extremely happy you kept the Kafka joke in, not many people get it or leave it in. Also, your laugh had me smiling with you the entire reaction! Great job and thank you!
Honey you made a mistake by leaving this channel seriously come back Here are two great movie suggestions for you I promise
Jaws (1975)
Marathon Man (1976)
Definitively put these two movies on your list..
Mel Brooks was a genius, he doesnt break the 4th wall, he shatters it lol. Michael Winslow the guy that did those sound effects is one of a kind, he really hit it big in police academy. I just love the fact you couldn't stop smiling lol 😆
Mel Brooks is still alive, 96 years old - thus he IS a genius. Right?
Did she stop making content?
Hello! Are you still there, Nox?
I hope you didn't abandon your channel.
Did you stop making reaction videos I miss your reactions
One of the funny parts is how they pushed the merch in the movie but a deal was made with George Lucas that he wouldn't sue for copyright infringement but Brooks couldn't sell any merch so of course Mel went right over the top with it in the movie but there wasn't a single piece to found in the real world. I hope the film crew or actors were able to steal some of the merch created for the movie because it would be worth a fortune now.
i bet a lot of it is forgotten in some storage unit somewhere. that would be dream find at auction lol
The deal was actually that mel got to borrow Lucas arts wfx and models from the star wars for free under the condition of there would be no merch from spaceballs. But Mel Brooks is mel Brooks, so he made it into a huge gagtheme instead. And George Lucas loved it.
lol man you're so fun, i love your reactions! subbed :)
edit: also it would be sick if you reacted to Tommy Boy with Chris Farley, one of the greatest comedic actors of all time
"Chapter Eleven" means they filed for bankruptcy.
The Dolls part was ad-libbed by Rick. And it was brilliant.
what happened to her??
Does anyone know what happened to Nox? Hope she’s ok…
RIP
NOX!!! WHERE ARE YOU?!?!? Are you okay?
Not just spoofing space movies.
First meeting Yogurt spoofs all the way back to The Wizard of Oz.
Thank you! Now I don't have to say it.
There is no official Spaceballs merchandise, as part of Mel's deal with George Lucas for the rights to parody Star Wars. So he mocks George ruthlessly in the merchandising scene (if you don't know, GL made his fortune off merchandising Star Wars because Fox gave him the merchandising rights in lieu of pay).
And the alien's song and dance is from an old Warner Bros cartoon called One Froggy Evening.

I do agree with you on that . KFC is terrible and Popeye is 100% better !! Especially the biscuits !!! 😉
The sound effects guy was Michael Winslow. If you like him, he had a bigger role in the first couple of 'Police Academy' movies.
Is everything alright? No upload for 7 months now? You still doing this?
The maid was holding the handle to the vacuum. We know where your mind was!
Right where I like it
It's funny because Spaceballs had no merchandising dealer would only let them make this movie spoof about Star wars but he said they could sell no merchandise
Thank you Rick Moranis, for sharing some of your life with us and making our childhoods that much more special. Ghostbusters, Honey, I Shrunk the Kids and on and on. That wasn't meant to sound like an obituary... 👀
You were making me nervous
I hope someday someone reacts to Strange Brew. Hilarious movie.
Parenthood, with Steve Martin
come back!
You are spot on with your hunch about the twins being in a commercial: see e.g. 1991 - Double Your Pleasure with Doublemint Gum. The other guy you asked about with the sound effects is none other than the brilliant "man of 10000 sound effects" Michael Winslow, most famous for staring in the Police Academy movies.
Well, now we need Nox to do a Police Academy reaction.
Doublemint Gum had commercials featuring identical twins and the ads were inescapable, so everybody would have been familiar with the joke. They were so well known that David Letterman's Top-10 Rejected Ad Campaigns included "Bob Guccione and the Doublemint Triplets in a Hot Tub."
"We ain't found shit" never fails to make me laugh.
if you've ever seen Star Trek: Voyager the man that said that line was Tim Russ who played Tuvok.
Honestly, it's the same for me every time my parents misplaced something and asked me if I found it is say I ain't found Spaceballs because I couldn't say the actual word and they would laugh and say we get it.
Another channel that just goes dead without any explanation. It's like a pandemic on YT lately -.-
Is this channel still here? Hope you're doing well Nox 🙏
I literally just realized they got John Hurt for the Alien reference.
We miss you. I hope all is well with you.
I simply love your laugh. Fantastic. Here for it.
she is so brilliant she should be the first woman of america
I wonder why she hasn’t posted?
Beautiful voice and beautiful smile! Love your page already! ☮️💕
Where did you go? And when can we see you again?
It seems she has stopped this channel, i will look for other reactors
6:27 Yes, the Doublemint gum commercials always had twins.
15:57 "All the jokes are just _woven in_ to all the conversations as if it's just, like, whatever, and nobody _reacts_ to it."
And that _last_ part makes it even _funnier, doesn't_ it? There's something totally absurd going on and everyone reacts like it's normal, and that makes it _ten times_ as absurd. This, I've noticed, is an enduring element of satire. You _really_ want to make your audience laugh, make your whole movie like _this._
There's this skit from the _Monty Python_ sketch comedy show called _Ministry of Silly Walks,_ the main character of which, every time he walks anywhere, employs this totally absurd walk. You _might_ suspect he's drunk or crazy. What makes it _funny_ is that, from the waste up, he carries himself like a self-respecting English gentleman. The expression on his face is _just_ the kind of expression you would expect from someone who's off to a day at the office.
"Keep calm and carry on... and have a silly _walk."_
Do not take this the "me-too" way, but you are gorgeous
Should check out Mel Brooks's original 60's movie of The Producers, Young Frankenstein, High Anxiety, History of the World, part 1, Robin Hood: Men in Tights & Dracula: Dead & Loving It.
it's been 8 months. It's tragic how this movie, Spaceballs, has destroyed Nox's faith in movies.
Merry Christmas to Nox So Subtle
What happened? Did you stop broadcasting?
She's good she has another channel called Nox and Noah
Dark Helmet makes this movie
The alien singing with the top hat and cane was reference to Warner Bros. Looney Tunes singing frog singing the same song. Love your reactions. honest and fun. I think you would like High Anxiety. It's Mel Brooks tribute to Alfred Hitchcock movies.
“One Froggy Evening” is the cartoon. Spielberg called it the Citizen Kane of cartoon shorts.
Guess you don’t upload anymore. Noticed you never watched rocky balboa.
So glad you've seen the movies this was parodying, great reaction!
There's an old '80s cartoon where a construction worker finds a frog who sings but every time somebody else is around the Frog won't sing that's where the Aliens parody comes from
"One Froggy Evening" is/was a 1955 short: ruclips.net/video/80UjzxfNugs/видео.html
Maybe you saw it in the 80's, but as Otokichi pointed out, it's much older than that
Where did you go? Miss your reactions❤
I know, i love her smile, laugh
Yeah, "Wrigley's Double Mint Gum" was a popular product from I guess the '80s-'90s, back when gum came in 'sticks' (flat strips, bought in packs of 5 or 20).
You are the first reactor I've seen get the Metamorphosis joke and that alone makes me very happy I subbed
yeah, it's good to be the king. (5:22)
I hope you're ok, its been a while.
2:20 No but there's a country in Europe where *no one* was surprised by the big twist in Star Wars because Darth Vadar means 'dark _father.'_ I believe it was in Dutch but I could have that wrong. (and I'm too lazy to check)
The stunt doubles bit was so inspired. I love movies that break the 4th wall 😂
Stephen Tobolowsky's delivery of "You idiots! You've captured their stunt doubles!" is simply fantastic.
the funniest part about the Instant Cassette bit is, if you think about it with streaming, it actually happened
Pre-preorder: You buy it before they’ve even come up with the idea for whatever it will be yet.
@@0okamino Closest I've ever gotten to that was the time I pre-ordered a video game, only for the game to get cancelled.
You havent released anything for 7 months, whats up? Hope everything is OK
The Tesla model S Plaid is named after "They've gone to plaid" moment in this movie, it's their fastest model. They also have a "ludicrous speed" setting on all their cars.
I also wonder if this inspired Musk's "flamethrower".
'Doublemint Gum' ads always featured 'twins' or doubles chewing gum. LMAO. Totally forgot about those ads.
8:41 "You thought you could outwit the imperious forces of Planet Spaceball. Well, you were _wrong."_
😆 Ha! I don't know _how_ many times I've seen this movie, but I just now caught this joke for the _first time._ See, he's not referring to _imperial_ forces. He's referring to _imperious_ forces; _overbearing, domineering, haughty_ forces.
Comb the desert
'Ready Kafka?'
THANKS FOR THE GAS YOGHURT 😂 I never registered that joke before
This movie is funny but you made it twice as funny..good stuff
Twins in the old “Doublemint Gum” commercials (1970’s). Pizza the Hut (instead of Jabba)…..lots of little references in this movie……Cheers
Ohhhh man, made some dinner, sit down for some RUclips... And see my RUclips Crush doing one of the best comedies EVER???? What a friggin great Saturday!!!!
With the ship intro, I find it's funny for a bit, then stops being funny in the middle... and then _somehow_ goes back to being funny by the end of it. Not quite sure how that works...
The guy with all the sound-effects is Michael Winslow, you can see him again in the Police Academy movies. He did a lot of stand-up comedy as well, though that might be harder to find.
As for movies giving unrealistic space expectations... yeah. They do. Just having _gravity_ is a major improvement (normally, in space, you wouldn't unless your ship was spinning to simulate it). Heck, even space _combat_ isn't really shown right. One of the problems that so many systems in space have is heat, either not enough of it or, all too often, _way too much_ of it. Satellites carry large solar arrays, of course, to pick up energy, but they _also_ have _huge_ radiators to get _rid of_ all the excess heat. Quite likely, a space battle would be over the moment components got too hot.
Then there's only knowing the guy for a couple days... well... we have _no idea_ how long she's know Prince Valium. And, from the looks of things, knowing him _longer_ wouldn't help. Every moment he's on screen you just wanna punch him. (Kudos to the portrayal, though.)
As for the merchandise... Lucas agreed to let Brooks make this movie on the condition there would _be_ no merchandise... so there isn't... and the movie is poking fun at that stipulation. ;) He _also_ wasn't allowed to dress up a character like Han Solo, so Lone Star is dressed like a _different_ Lucas character: Indiana Jones.
It should also be mentioned that 'Schwartz' was the name of Mel Brooks' lawyer at the time, who helped make this movie possible. Never underestimate the power of the Schwartz!
I think you _got_ most of the space movie references. Not sure if you picked up on the Wizard of Oz reference (when meeting Yogurt for the first time).
One of my favorite 'little jokes' in the film is "there's only one man who would dare give me the raspberry". Yes, there's the camera impact soon after, but that line itself bring a snicker for me.
As for other Brooks films:
Young Frankenstein, Robin Hood: Men in Tights
For other _comedy_ generally, I'd recommend (but only if you enjoy laughing):
My Cousin Vinny, Airplane!, Top Secret, and the entire Naked Gun trilogy. All but the first of those are absurdist humor.
Subtle joke: Princess Vespa. Vespa is Italian for wasp. In other words, the princess is a WASP (White Anglo Saxon Protestant), slang for the sort of uptight, rich snob you'd find in the suburbs of New York or Boston.
I hope you caught "The Wizard of Oz" reference when they're walking walking into the Temple of Yogurt.
You can't by Spaceballs: The T-Shirt. George Lucas forbid merchandising. Spaceballs merchandise could not be sold, as per of the contract with the production company. That was part of the deal, after Mel Brooks asked Lucasfilms to parody Star Wars.
The Planet of the Apes reference is a spoiler if you haven't seen it.
Chapter 11 is also used when someone files for bankruptcy, and the song the chestburster sang is from "One Froggy Evening", a Looney Tunes short where Michigan J. Frog keeps performing vaudeville numbers for a construction worker... but whenever he tries showcasing the frog's act to *anyone* else, it immediately reverts to being a regular frog. Though one thing I realized - depending on how many uncles Lone Starr had, he and Dark Helmet may have been roommates! "I am your father's brother's nephew's cousin's former roommate", after all!
Omg that’s brilliant 😂😂😂😂
If you actually want to see a Schwartz/schwantz fight, look up John Ritter's movie, Skin Deep.
master of mouth sound fx Michael Winslow, watch the police academy movies
nox, i watch videos on youtube of the Legend of Zelda randomnizer tournament where they randomize where everything is in the 1987 video game. so if you normally go in a cave and the old man says, there are secrets where faires aren't, instead he might say a catchphrase that the new programmers put in. like "Ludacris speed , GO! " or " I'm Batman!"
23:15 The dancing Alien singing Hello My Baby is a reference to an old Luney Tunes cartoon ...
ruclips.net/video/YRWlbX92B3I/видео.html
Spaceballs parodied several space franchises including Star Wars, Star Trek, Alien and Planet of the Apes.
i forgot where i heard this from, but Mel Brooks asked permission from George Lucas to make this movie. Lucas agreed, but the Lone Star character couldnt dress like Han Solo and then Brooks dressed him like Indiana Jones. 😂
I got so much joy watching you laugh at this silly movie. I saw this movie as a kid and even to this day, when something is out of order, I still say to myself “Fuck! Even in the future, nothing works.”
Same! That's one of those movie quotes that I always find myself saying. Another one is, "You have to know these things when you're king, you know." Sadly, the reference is lost on most people.
"We aren't living in the past or the present anymore, this is the future!" Airplane 2
YES!!!! POPEYE'S IS MUCH BETTER!!!
🙌🙌
If you want to see more of Michael Winslow (The sound man), you really should check out the Police Academy movies. He is in all of them.
Michael Winslow in Police Academy is awesome you should watch it
I can't remember where I read it, but I heard that Mel Brooks asked George Lucas if he he could parady Star Wars and Lucas agreee only if there was no merchandising of the movie.
My daughter and her husband had the minister do the "mawwide" speech at their wedding 😂
Wow, when I saw this movie before, I never got the Kafka Metamorphosis joke, it went by so fast.
Your reaction to this movie was so fun to watch!
My favorite brooks movies are young Frankenstein Robbin hood men in tights and of course space ball’s…. History of the world part one and two are good for a laugh as well
YASSS!
