I just watched this for the first time the day you posted this, then came looking for reactions the day after. The ending definitely reminded me of The Fountain. Great call there. This also reminds me of 12 Angry Men in the way basically the entire story takes place inside one location. You don’t need a huge budget and special effects to make an award winning movie.

I do feel there's a few things that you're missing. - people have feelings and they project them onto the easiest target - people want to help others to make themselves feel important - Ellie didn't do either, she saw him for who he was and was honest.

This was such a different role for Brendan Fraser, I’m used to seeing him in more comedic roles, I’m glad he got the recognition he did for the part. Another really great movie I think that you should check out, if you haven’t seen it, is Everything Everywhere All At Once. I can empathize with his character on a certain level. Even though I don’t really struggle with my weight, I do have a neurodevelopmental disorder that makes my day-to-day life much harder, so I can empathize with his characters daily struggle without help from other people.

Terrible movie. Great acting

This movie is beyond disgraceful-it’s an abomination. The Whale? The very title is a slap in the face to anyone with a shred of decency. Who in their right mind thought naming a film about an obese person something so revolting, so dehumanizing, was acceptable? It’s disgusting on every level. What’s next, making a movie about Black people and calling it The N-word? And the fat suit? What a pathetic joke. Fat actors exist, but maybe they had the self-respect not to go anywhere near this grotesque insult. The director’s weak excuse-“makeup has always been part of acting”-is as pitiful as it gets. By that logic, why not bring back blackface? This movie is a stain on everyone involved, and they should all be ashamed. It’s an embarrassment to film making and an insult to basic humanity.

That was a really good movie. Brenden Fraser did a masterful job. Deserving of the Oscar. I didn't think he had it in him. Very heartbreaking. One of the best movies since Shawshank Redemption.

A well deserved Academy Award for Fraser here, who gives so much, without - litteraly - moving much. But speaking of this particular year for the awards, It really could have gone to Colin Farrell (who reunited with Brendan Gleeson for The Banshees of Inisherin) or to Bill Nighy for Living. Two other must watch movies, in my opinion.

No offense i don't think you understand that this was Mel Brooks satire about Warner Brothers in its entirety. Also and most important, he was mocking, at the time Hollywoods racism, and stereo types

everything should be said, because these people exist lol. if anything it makes things more authentic. Why watch your mouth when people say things to each other all the time when other people arent around or a phone isnt in their face etc. Someone his age even now would probably speak that way lol. Everyone doesnt worry about people's feelings that arent around to hear it in the context of the movie that is.

I love how Seth and Jacob don’t like each other, but are willing to put their differences aside to fight a common enemy. In this case, vampires. I also love Seth’s speech to Jacob about how he’s their best chance against the vamps, and how Jacob accepts that responsibility. Plus, there’s something funny about Jacob censoring himself.

Guys, can we all agree that Nox is impossibly cute? ♥😍 Girl, why aren't we together already? Very underrated "B" movie, by the way. People tend to think it's a cheap horror movie, but it's actually so freaking cool. I miss those crazy 90s when movies dared to be original and not trying to please everybody. I can think of something similar: The Faculty. People dismiss it as a simple "teen horror", but it's unique, very well done and with tons of great actors too. I see that you didn't watch it yet! he he 😉

The budget was really low for this film. What they managed to do is amazing. One of my favorite horror films.

The guy with the little gun in his crotch that played Sex Machine is Tom Savini, and the guy that pulled a knife on him is Greg Nicotero. Savini is a prosthetic makeup artist, stunt performer and film director. Nicotero is a special makeup effects creator, TV producer and director. The have worked together previously in one of the greatest zombie movies ever made; Day of the Dead, in addition to Land of the Dead and Diary of the Dead. They both have an impressive history of working on horror projects.

I appreciate the attention to detail in the film. When Fr. Karras was crippled and dying in the end at the bottom of the stairwell, he was able to squeeze his confessor's hand to confirm accepting his last rites. This is actually a thing IRL. If it is possible, a dying person is supposed to confirm their acceptance of the prayers of their Last Rites in whatever way they can. I spoke to a priest once who told me a similar real life story at the scene of an auto collision. This sort of stuff really happens, and some faithful are unfortunately aware enough to squeeze the priest's hand in a final act of humility and faith. I think it was a beautiful touch to the end of Fr. Karras' life. He was called home as a martyr to see his momma earlier than he thought.

You missed my favorite line: Psychos do not explode when sunlight hits them. I don't give a fuck HOW crazy they are!

My only problem with this movie is that the vampires are just too weak. Suprise and overwhelming numbers is all that make them the least bit dangerous. With the amount of losses to untrained, poorly armed, normal humans. Its amazing these vampires weren't exterminated centuries ago.

That place they're trying to get to "el rey" or whatever, in mentioned in the novel "the perfect getaway" Apparently once you go there, you can never leave and once you run out of money/usefulness, you're eaten
