The sweet red peppers that I buy in supermarkets in the United States, and in produce markets, and places like Trader Joes, all have an oily coating on them that does NOT come off with vinegar. I know its an oily coating because in the past I've grown my own peppers and they didn't have an oily coating like the ones I see in supermarkets. I've also seen peppers without the coating at farm stands and tailgate markets. But these are only available briefly, in season. HIgh quality red peppers from Mexico are available all year round. But they always have that oily coating on them. I tried full strength dishwashing liquid (Joy for dishes) and that didn't take it off. I ran boiling hot water over them. That didn't take it off. Boiling hot water is how we used to remove the wax when making gold castings using the lost wax technique. It worked really well. After we made a plaster mold from the wax sculpture, it was time to remove the wax sculpture. We simply ran hot water from the hot water tap over the mold and the wax liquified, rolled right off, and ran down the drain with the hot water (and for some reason I never saw the drain become clogged from wax that cooled off and solidified inside it). Anyway my point is that hot water from the tap (about 130 degrees F?) took the wax right out of the mold in seconds, yet boiling hot water (at 212 degrees F) did not remove the oily coating from the peppers.

Your'e fooling yourself if you believe that some warm water is going to remove much of anything nasty . I recommend using a spray bottle with vinegar and a spice shaker with baking soda then spray your fruit or vegetables and sprinkle the baking soda using your hands or soft bristle brush rub it all over the item an extra spray let it sit a minute then rinse for berries mix water baking soda and vinegar and wash in a bowl !

You certainly have good way to impart information, very clear and direct. If you add vinegar or lemon juice does that affect the taste of the fruit when you bite into it?

Give it a good rinse, and you should have no ,vinegar or lemon juice taste.
      Thank you for watching Layla.

I couldn't hang with this. Just went way too slow - don't need to know EXACTLY what brand every little item is, and to rinse fruits in the water left from rinsing other fruits just made no sense to me... seemed to be defeating the whole purpose. I don't have enough time to sit through a long drawn out video. Need to get to the point. Could give the info and show how it's done at a much quicker rate. Also, in the very beginning the camera went blurry and gave me an instant migraine. That was shocking to me. Don't know what that was about. Sorry, but hon you got people out here who are in a hurry and need info quick so we can get to it. If not, we're out of here. Just sayin'... best advice I can give you.
