Tia is from Hawaiʻi and knows what it means to us. She's sung it a million times and will sing it a million more. This was written by our Queen Lili'uokalani for us, her people.
I went to a ceremony in Honolulu for the support of families who had family members that committed suicide. We sang Aloha 'Oe and sent little candles out to sea representing the lost family members. I was a suicide counselor but I cried so hard I almost suffocated.
This is the most beautiful version of this song. Her voice is so peaceful and deep it almost makes me cry out of pure emotion. I probably sound ridiculous, but is just the way it makes me feel. She has just the perfect voice to transmite the lyrics.
Well the song was written by the queen of Hawai'i, Liliʻuokalani after having her country forcefully taken by the United States, as a farewell to her people. It's a sad song in truth
I love hawaii. I love the sunset in Hawaii. And I love Aloha Oe. I can't go to Hawaii because of the coronavirus epidemic. I have colorectal cancer. I would like to visit my favorite Hawaii again with my wife. May peaceful times come back again.
I love this version of the song, I was recently watching Lilo and stitch and loved how Nani sang this song, Then discovered Tia Carrere was the voice of Nani, Absolute bliss to my ears when i find out she's sang the exact same song in full.
Listening to the news of the big fire on Maui Island, (at 2023 Aug.) I felt the true sentiment of the Alohoe song. We console those who lost their hometowns and homes in this disaster, and pray for the souls of the victims who have left on a path that cannot return. Gog bless You !
I am 68 years old, have had a hard life, I am of indigeous decent, and share a kinship with the Hawaiian way of life. I almost never cry, until I listen to this song! I never understood the language, but didn't have to! I have played music my entire life, and this is without doubt, one of the most beautiful songs I have ever heard!! Thank you so much for putting it up! ALOHA!!!
Goodbye The rain proudly lulls1 by the cliff And quietly brushes through the forest2 It hones in at the core:3 The Lehua Flower of the vale. Sad moment in History. Beautiful Queen and song. Hawaii is a place you will never forget. The smell is something different. It really is paradise. If there is heaven on earth Hawaii would be it.

Man oh man, how beautiful is that? The song is even more special seeing as how it was written by Queen Lili'uokalani, the last reigning monarch of the Kingdom of Hawai'i. Liked and saved.
it was written by the monarch reflecting the fall of her home land. its like a last goodbye as she watched it crumble in front of her during a hostile takeover
@@Pandapelt The origin of the song was quite different. The song was inspired by a notable farewell embrace given by Colonel James Harbottle Boyd during a horseback trip taken by Princess Liliʻuokalani in 1877 or 1878 to the Boyd ranch in Maunawili on the windward side of Oʻahu, and that the members of the party hummed the tune on the way back to Honolulu. Different versions tell of alternate recipients of the embrace-either Liliʻuokalani's sister Princess Likelike Cleghorn or a young lady at the ranch. Yes, she did sing it as a last goodbye but that came later.

Farihah Madison When i was a child i didnt understand what was going on in that scene until i watched it as an adult and realized it broke my heart being an older sister myself. I could only imagine what Nani went through.
My heart is full. This song has so much meaning. This Maui Girl wants to go home. While growing up, my grandpa played this on the organ and we sang along. Mahalo Nui Loa for sharing this!!!
I love this version over how Queen Lili'uokalani sang it only because this version sounds a lot more haunting and sadder in my opinion. Kinda captures the meaning of the song.
after watching train to busan when the little girl humming was heard i knew its aloha oe... and as she approaches the end of the tunnel i cried for the third time.....
I just keep playing and playing and playing this over again ... such a wonderful hauntingly beautiful rendition ... and how could anyone "dislike" this?!?!
I first heard this song on Lilo and Stitch. I instantly recognized this song when watching Train to Busan. The tears wouldn't stop falling 😭 like when you know what the song is about... it's even more sadder. Loved both movies! Highly recommend watching Train to Busan and also go watch Lilo and Stitch to feel like a child again!
Can you please paste the lyrics of the aloha oe song that Su An sings in the tunnel in the Train to Busan movie? I lost my dad recently and the ending of that movie hit me really hard. I loved what SuAn sang. I would like to sing it for my dad in heaven. Please?
this is such a beautiful song. i think i'm giving it most of it's views right now...i listen to it over and over and over as i'm editing videos. such a beautiful voice.
Tia, you sang this song so beautifully. It was so nahenahe. I loved it. Our Queen would be smiling if she heard you. I'm sure of that. I've listened to other singers in the past who have totally destroyed this song. Well done, my dear, Hawaii is proud of you.
It's almost 2017 and I will probably watch it til the day I die. This will be a must watch for my son, nephews and niece in my house as they all grow older. They don't make Disney, much less kids movies in general, like it anymore.
Nhi Thái It's my favourite Disney movie. I like it even more than those princess movies that made Disney famous. I still like those but not as much as Lilo and Stitch. It is so deep
I think this is the very best version of this wonderful old song that I have ever heard. It absolutely takes my breath away. If you read all the history surrounding this song it means even more.
When I found this full version by Tia Carrere i was SO happy! I loved her abbreviated version in Lilo and Stitch! To hear her sing the full version is PHENOMENAL! It sounds like a more mature Nani singing to Lilo!! Brava!
Listening to this sad and heartbreak song and thinking of all the people in Maui and the suffering from the fire.. GODBLESS each and everyone.🌺💐🌺🌻🌹🌿💔💔🙏

Thank you Train to Busan. Now every time I hear this (and YES, that includes the Tom and Jerry episode), I will definitely get sad. Maybe even cry. -_-
Beautiful and so sad. Brought tear to my eyes. Saw a you tube video about some natives living traditionally and renuncing us citizenship. Wish we could give everyone their land back.
This makes me cry i grew up in Hawai'i my best friend is samoan and Hawaiian and tbh i think the culture is beautiful and they should be given their land back
I song this song to the little ones in my life. I'm not Hawaiian, but this song has held a special place in my heart for years now. Beautifully sang in this version, but I love a lot of the versions I've heard over the years.
Haʻaheo e ka ua i nā pali ("Proudly swept the rain by the cliffs") Ke nihi aʻela i ka nahele ("As it glided through the trees") E hahai (uhai) ana paha i ka liko ("Still following ever the bud") Pua ʻāhihi lehua o uka ("The ʻāhihi lehua [a Hawaiian flower] of the valley") Aloha ʻoe, aloha ʻoe ("Farewell to thee, farewell to thee") E ke onaona noho i ka lipo ("The charming one who dwells in the shaded bowers") One fond embrace, A hoʻi aʻe au (" 'Ere I depart") Until we meet again

That's good ...Always when ppl are away from their own ppls they feel like that. Good to know you feelcloser to your ppl.
I'm a Hungarian and 3 years ago I spent a few days there. Sometimes I listen to this song to remember on that unbelievable visit.

I cry everytime i listen to that song. So beautiful.
You're not the only one. In my case, this song recall the memory of my first lyrical music teacher, who died last summer at just 47 years old
You are right, this version is very different. Because of the close mike, I think it gives a very appropriate personal feel to the singing.
You are not alone, much Aloha💚
I love hawaii.
I love the sunset in Hawaii.
And I love Aloha Oe.
I can't go to Hawaii because of the coronavirus epidemic.
I have colorectal cancer.
I would like to visit my favorite Hawaii again with my wife.

Praises to Queen Liliʻuokalani. Her love and compassion towards her people and her music still reaches the world today.
I love this version of the song, I was recently watching Lilo and stitch and loved how Nani sang this song, Then discovered Tia Carrere was the voice of Nani, Absolute bliss to my ears when i find out she's sang the exact same song in full.
it is also in the move Train to Basu
She sings it so soothingly, I feel like I'm snuggling to my mom and slowly falling asleep. It's so pretty!

definitely a bright comment. So used to listening to happy Ukelele versions but this is the real thing. My favourite version so far. :)
Mine too! And it's sung by a native Hawaiian!
The reason this song was written is heartbreaking and Tia does it justice.
