Today would be my grandmother's 104th birthday. She was born in Hawaii in 1917, the year that Queen Lili passed away. Our family has 140 years of history in Hawaii, and I am beyond grateful and proud to be from such a beautiful culture so full of love and warmth. My grandmother embodied and epitomized the Aloha spirit, and taught me so much about Ohana, love, generosity and kindness; a queen in her own right. #LouiseOkuBorges #JimmyBorges #CarolyneBorges #CynthiaBorges #RestInParadise

My dad is Hawaiian and my mom haole and we grew up in the mainland. But we were raised Hawaiian. This. The aloha and grace of our queen to compose a song for a peer. She could've just given her a seashell. Some kukui nuts. Instead she gives a masterpiece....because that's who she and we are. You can feel her greatness and goodwill in the mele, man, it just envelopes you. I know I'm Hawaiian when I hear it. And the hula, Weldon and the boys are on point!! One of my all time fav jamz, for sure.

Love this song and Weldon's performance with the exceptional (and very famous) dancers. [FYI: The mother, Kapua Dalire-Moe, is a former Miss Aloha Hula (as well as her 2 younger sisters) -- it's like the Miss Universe of hula. Kapua is a kumu hula (hula teacher) and runs a very prestigious halau (hula dance academy) that was established by her mother, Aloha Dalire (the very first Miss Aloha Hula, crowned in 1971). Kapua's daughter, Kili, is a serious contender for the title of Miss Aloha Hula at the next annual Merrie Monarch Festival in 2021 (the 2020 festival was cancelled due to pandemic). ] Thanks for sharing this beautiful performance. I love this melody and the language. I don't really know the meaning but I can sense the culture and energy of this song. It also reminds me to my ancient language, that almost forgotten. I'm from Maluku Islands (molo’uku), Indonesia🇮🇩. It means that I'm also a pacific islander (melanesian). We have bounch of similarities in language, tradition, people as all pacific islanders.🖤

As a 14yrold arrived in AOTEAROA NZ 50pls yrs ago was told we are Maoris at school but I have always maintain that my people's true identity is Polynesians (Porinetia)our language but some Maori's Wahines women's I ask who called you Maori's their answer's is the pakeha white people and now we been hearing that even the Aborigines are being labeled as Maori's too!!!!! as well as other Polynesians in the Pacific Ocean I ask who are these race to dictate they are always right and we are dumb and we don't know who we are and my children ask about their own identity even the Cook Island our people has been trying to tell the rest of our Island people to get rid of that name because what his men did to our women folks an we can imagine our men try to stop them an was killed they are nothing but evil dogs in my belief so when I learnt what happened to Cook in Hawaii an I love that name King Kamehameha an I said what goes around must come around and God knows an seen All the evils his men did Believe in our Creator all evils will not end until JESUS our Saviour comes an calls us by our name only people who has done evil will not enter the Kingdom of God MaHalo my Brother's an Sister's

Instant tears..... Beautiful in every way. The music, the voices, the hula and the people of Hawaii. My roots are in Dutch clay, but otherwise I feel connected to your precious Islands. One day I hope to set foot on your land. Love from the Netherlands to Hawaii.
