To clarify, models on opposing sides but outside of a ruin, cannot have line of sight, but if a model is inside the ruin, it can have line of sight but also gets benefit of cover?

Yes. If you go to the rules commentary and flip to page 15 it illustrates exactly what you just said very nicely www.warhammer-community.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/06/2YpFOYJiw9LXvz4s.pdf

Played like 2 games at 500 points with unbalanced house rules before one guy put a knight in with his space marines and demanded to play 2,000 point games with it. As an Orks player, I’ve had to learn all the rules and terrain layouts that tournaments use just to nerf that thing so I can actually get out of my deployment zone with most of my army intact. I’ll be an expert at exploiting terrain soon.

There are different terrain types used in the world. It depends a lot on your location. In Europe WTC terrain and rules are the dominant format for example. Terrain is crucial for a fair and balanced game and I wouldn't even bother going on an event that doesn't use standadized terrain layouts

@@Krachbumm-Ente yeah, most of the people I play with are new to the game or only started playing 10th recently. Most of us stick to casual games for now. Because of the guy playing the knight, we haven’t been able to go through the normal progression of learning the game

Thanks for the comment. Knights are super hard to balance at lower points games plus the fact that they are a skew type of unit/faction as well even at 2k. (If you don't have the tools to kill it then it can just dominate a game). Can create some awkward games if you are just starting out for sure. As a fellow Ork player I can confirm Terrain is your friend so stick with it! :)

@@buttemountain You should consider simply not playing with the Knights guy, if its harmfully impacting your game and learning, or simply ask him to use a different list :)

He's playing marines with a knight ally? His list is automatic garbage. Pick up the named squighogg boss and trash that knight every game with his rules vs vehicles.
