This is the first time that I have watched you. I loved your stitching and your chatting. I also loved your “thumbs up” Anna. I live on the central coast of California. I completely understood your explanation of our beautiful coastline. I always have a coat in the car just in case.😉 No marine layer today, it was sunny and 64…..perfect! Thanks for sharing.
Such joy and wonderful projects. The piece in the bowl was brilliant. Anna, I love the dress pattern and your comments on California beaches. All in all, a perfect was to spend my Monday afternoon.
I still can't get over how perfectly Carolyn's pillow finish fits in that basket - it's the simple little excitements in life, right?! Always great to connect with you, Sarah. Happy Crafting! -Anna
Thank you for another interesting video! I too have trouble pronouncing an Arnold Palmer. Once at our local cafe, I thought I would smart and order an iced tea and lemonade. Our server brought me a glass of iced tea and a glass of lemonade. 🤦🏼♀ So now I just stumble over the words and hope I can say them clearly enough to be understood. 😊 I love how you incorporate your family history into your stitching. And now I need to dream up a maker’s mark for cross stitching. Thanks again!
Haha - thanks for sharing this story. I have ordered an Arnold Palmer several times in the last few weeks and am always amused by the situation. Enjoy deciding upon you maker's mark! Happy Crafting, Lea! -Anna
Such inspiration and well thought out….love the sequencing. Ideas for project info: for hard backs glue an envelope and place notes inside, for soft backings you could make a cloth envelope or a piece of cloth that has the info written in sharpie the half folded up and tied with natural string or ribbon or …. Ideas are boundless.
Can hardly wait to seeing Carolyn’s Emeline framed. I’ll be taking mine to the framer on Monday the 8th. Yaya’s sampler is gorgeous!🔥 You two are so inspiring!❤
Just found your finish on Instagram - absolutely gorgeous. You stitched that up in no time! Please let us know what frame you choose! Happy Crafting, Karen! -Anna
I love the shape of your pillow finish. Not only that it is a round pillow, but the way you shaped the thickness. I am going to use that idea on my next pillow finish. You two are so much fun to watch. Your enthusiasm and joy for the needle arts is infectious. I love your stories and descriptions of the bay area. It takes me back to my childhood, I grew up in Marin County. Thanks for another great video.
Marin! So you certainly can relate to the fog and the beaches! I agree about Carolyn's pillow finish. She leans toward less-stuffed pillows, and they really have a different, and very pretty, look. Happy Crafting, Jenny! -Anna
Ready for a giggle? I usually do not stitch while watching you two but this am I decides to and sure enough - now I have to frog! See how much fun you are. hugs
I'm so looking forward to starting Emiline Hotchkiss. I have ordered my overdyed cotton flosses as well as some 40ct Verdal which I absolutely adore stitching on. I just got the notice from 123 Stitch that my order shipped today. It takes a while to get here since I'm in Canada but It will be worth the wait. Congrats on finishing yours Caroline. Love the beach stories. Inland beaches are much warmer but I can remember getting pretty chilly at Lake Michigan.
I can only imagine how excited you are for that package to arrive, Alison! I hope you enjoy every stitch of Emeline, as Carolyn did. Happy Crafting! -Anna
Loved your video! I am working on aPUB also, but am in the upper left corner. So wonderful to see the upper right side with all the caterpillars! ❤ I am in awe of Anna’s stitching on 56 ct, even using magnification!😮
Hello Hello....waht a delightful solidly packed show. Thank you so much ladies and keep on enjoying your summer. LOVE the beach as well. We live on the water but have no beach. Every year the family that is relatively close by meet up at a beautiful beach at Sandbanks Provincial Park for about a week and enjoy each other's company and surroundings. 'Till next time ❤❤
Hi Hanna! I just looked at some photos of Sandbanks Provincial Park - so pretty! Nothing like being outside together, if you ask me! Happy Crafting! -Anna
Caroline, I enjoyed seeing your finish of the Emmeline Hotchkiss sampler -- which is a reproduction by Cross Stitch Antiques. It is a *Canadian* sampler and was created by a girl/woman who lived in or near the area of Lacolle, Quebec -- a *real* place near where I grew up. It still exists and from what I can find online, there was indeed a Hotchkiss family there at one time. The area was settled not only by the French, but also by English, Irish and Scottish people -- hence the thought that Emmeline might have been of Irish descent. I had this pattern on my wish list with Traditional Stitches until earlier this week. Canada Day was July 1, and so I took the honour of that day and ordered the pattern. I already have just the right fabric (a 40 count) and most of the DMC floss; I can get the rest locally. For me, it honours the region in which I grew up in SW Quebec, very near the US border with NY State, and also honours the memory of my step-father who worked as an Immigration Officer there and in other Border Crossings over his career. The crossing at Lacolle is between Lacolle, Quebec headed to Rouse's Point, NY (Route 223) or Lacolle headed to Champlain, NY (Route 221) or St. Bernard-de-Lacolle, also headed to Champlain, NY (Hwy.15). For a map, see mapcarta.com/24416862
I'm so glad you ordered Emeline, Margaret! It sounds like it will be a very meaningful stitch for you - enjoy it! Thanks for the background information. Happy Crafting! -Anna
I went back to your first Flosstube episode and binge watched your first 33 episodes. This has now caught me up to where I was when I first came across your Flosstube channel. I was a bit disappointed to run out of episodes to watch. LOL. Thanks for taking the time to produce your episodes. Stay curious and keep on searching for those answers. I have learned so much from your curiosity!
Oh my goodness. So nice of you to share this with us, Norma, and thanks for joining us. Carolyn and I continue to really enjoy prepping for and making videos. I think articulating our ideas heightens our awareness of what we're up to with our crafting. Happy Crafting to you! -Anna
Thank you ladies doe another great Flosstube, I love all your projects and finishes. I am also working on A Peacock, A Unicorn, A Badger but from left to right, no caterpillars as yet! I have the William Morris in Cross Stitch book and have marked a few things I'd quite like to stitch but haven't got round to it yet, too many WIPs! 💗
I can see your name - loftymakes - suits the projects you pick! Just found your PUB - it's gorgeous. Are the William Morris pieces full coverage too? Happy Crafting, Rebecca! -Anna
@@we.are.curiouscrafters thank you, yes my PUB WIP was a birthday start in March of this year, I'm aiming to get it done in 5 years 🤣. The book has a mix of designs, some full coverage but mostly not. It's called 'The Art of William Morris in Cross Stitch' by Barbara Hammet. 💗
Such beautiful finished projects and WIPS. The frame is perfect and lovely be the handmade frame. I think once you start going on 56 count you just adjust and then when you go back to 36 or 40 you are like this is so easy. The sampler you chose for 56 count is great. Oh the Sheepish Designs brought back many memories for in the 80’s that was all I stitched. My Mom has so many hanging in her house plus I have 3 or 4 that I never framed. Back then it was all DMC and I did them mostly on Jobelan and I think it was 32 count. But enjoy, the patterns are fun to stitch. Thanks for sharing everything.
I've been stitching on Land That I Love by Teresa Kogut the whole month of June. I have about a weeks worth of stitching, and it will be done. It's time. I started July 4th 2021. I really enjoy your flosstube. Have a great week.
Woah! How satisfying to have so many stitches in on such a magnificent piece - that strawberry band in the middle! Enjoy your finish and Happy Crafting, Elizabeth! -Anna
This is the first time you came up on flosstube for me. I have thoroughly enjoyed our time together. You sisters get along so well and have great times together.
Your chat about frames brought back memories of my father making frames….such a warm and happy memory. He always wanted the wood to speak for itself…I think he would have liked your pa. Thank you. 🦉
Yes, that sounds like our grandfather. He would say that scratches in furniture just made it better - evidence of the family using the piece. Happy Crafting, Karen! -Anna
Thanks, Catherine. I think Carolyn and I are both more attuned to personalizing our pieces than we were when we first started stitching. Happy Crafting! -Anna
I’m writing this on Saturday, July 20 about 1/2 before I participate (partially) in seeing you both at the Mid Summer virtual gathering. I got my ticket and signed up right away for your table!!! am so bummed because I was SOO excited to see and meet you! However I have an IPad and although I will be able to see and hear you, I can’t get my camera or microphone to work. I tried most of last night! Here’s my virtual hug and I’ll figure this out by next time….💕
Hopefully you had a good time at Midsummer Stitch! As you know, it ended up that all the cameras and mics were off. Thanks for supporting us and joining us, Susan. It means a lot. Happy Crafting! -Anna
❤ I always enjoy your FlossTubes, and this one in particular. I want to stitch the red YaYa Sampler, but I’m not sure it’s charted/available??? I, too, love everything about it, in particular the four different sides in the border and the lovely fonts used. So happy that Anna is digging 56ct. It is addictive. I look forward to following your progress on your red sampler, Carolyn. ❤
Thank you for your kind words, Jean. Carolyn is going to mail you a copy of the chart she made (by looking at a photo of the sampler from her husband's side of the family). She will also include that photo, so you can see the original. It will not disappoint - we love Ya Ya's sampler. Here's to 56ct and Happy Crafting! Warmly, Anna
Anna, what about putting that Carnation on the matriarchal sampler. You could change out out the flowers to the sides to pattern to include those. How wonderful!
Thanks for sharing your stitching, it's so pretty. On the 'heritage' pieces with initials, will you put their names on the back of the finished frame, so it's clear who they were?
Yes, I will write a detailed note with the full names of all the women represented on the sampler. There's something about stitching initials that makes me feel connected to family. Happy Crafting, Jeanne! -Anna
