  • Story from a 5e game I was in. Copper continues to prove that rogues are horrible people.
    This was a super quick video that I've been wanting to make for a while, and finally was able to get to now that my other project is complete. Man I forgot how much flash sucks.
    There will be an actual animation coming soon, I promise!
    Also this is my first time trying out premiers. Woo!

    I once played an old man gunslinger based off of Clint Eastwood's various roles. When our thief was caught stealing from the adventurers guild we worked for (yeah I know) we were hired to go find her. Turns out we were being followed by other guild members and they were going to kill her if we found her and didn't. In order to distract them while the others snuck the rogue out, my character told the adventure guild members super long boring stories. With a performance check to intentionally annoy/bore them, rolling moderately high, I bored half of them until one of them yelled "I can't take this any more!" and pulled a knife on me. I then proceeded to give him the most horrible death stare the world has ever seen that drained the color from his face and made him drop his knife. For a second the whole bar was still as I just stared at him with grim eyes, people in my party being about ready to draw weapons on them...
    and I just went back in to my boring stories.

      @@thediethrower1803 Not necessarily. I am playing a true neutral character and he believes in necessary evil. He does not care about morals and views that the ends do sometimes justify the means. He is purely pragmatic in nature. A true neutral hero is way less moral than a hero but not quite in villain territory yet. Good tries to find another way but he just takes the quickest and most efficient means of taking down an enemy. Rather than forgiving his enemies he makes sure they don't ever become a threat again. Lacking morals may make you a sociopath but it does not make you evil. Evil is actively trying to hurt others or being malicious. Lacking morals means you lack the knowledge of right and wrong and go with your gut.

      Hm... Interesting. So, I see a cute elf all alone in the forest. I go over and rape her... Neutral? Chaotic neutral?
      I mean it probably would depend on the motivations I suppose? If the goal was to hurt and make the girl unhappy, It would be evil. If it was a case that the pleasure and enjoyment was valued as worth the girls discomfort, where the discomfort was a unfortunate side effect. Then it would be... Neutral? I mean the point was not to make ruin the elf's life or anything.
      Or would there have to be a larger goal behind it. Say the dude had a philosophy that its the right thing to do, to spread your... family... genes whenever you have a good mating opportunity, for you know... Better chance of some good offspring or whatever.

    • @funnyblog100
      @funnyblog100 5 лет назад +15

      @@zhoupact8567 Actually that is just an evil act. I said necessary evil. That is unnecessary. Neutral means your just more pragmatic and less heroic than the good guys. True Neutral is the most interesting alignment if played correctly. You are not dedicated to balance or any ideals you only do what needs to be done. You are usually better at making hard choices than a good person. That would be more chaotic evil. Chaotic Neutral basically just makes you Captain Jack Sparrow so wild and unpredictable. I mean Chaotic Neutral just does whatever they can to cure boredom.

UH... LINE! yorik brah, YORICK! I KNEW THEE WELL!... Billy the goblin, who was on his first ever raid with his daddy, getting slaughtered, the party not understanding why a goblin just stopped doing anything while the rest of the ambushers kept doin thier thing, then said goblin monologueing... alas these dark days shall be mine... the young perish... while the old linger, shaman walks over, Billy's death wasnt your fault Tim... goblin looks at the shaman, No parent should have to bury thier child...
    Which leads to the party Barbarian whose the Only one who speaks goblin saying the best line all session... (the entire time shes was all RAGE RAGE HAHAHAHA) Im sad now...

      Rois void
      Idk about calling goblin slayer lawful good. The premise of the story pretty much is that he's always right. He's literally the only person in the world who can see goblins are problems in a world goblins are causing all degrees of problems. It's like a NPC whose thoughts are seconded by the gm by default, not sure if that sort of character can really have alignment.

    • @jacobfreeman5444
      @jacobfreeman5444 4 года назад

      @@iliketurtles2531 I would say he very much has one. Goblin slayer hates goblins. Gobline slayer knows they are a problem, but really only for those too poor to merit the consideration of those in power. Yes, that is still a lot of people, but they are a lot of people who are underrepresented because they lack the funds to get their voice out there. Out of sight, out of mind. Anyway, goblins, so far, are objectively evil. But until he started partying up his methods, while very effective, were perhaps even more cruel and vicious than the goblins. But on the other hand he does show concern for others and does go out of his way to help those he believes he can save. So let us say neutral edging towards evil at the begining and after his friends change his views he starts tipping the other way.
      In the begining he had a very rigid way of thinking and doing things. He didn't compromise what was effective for anyone. So he had a lawful turn of mind. But as his friends, and especially priestess, work on him he starts to loosen up and be willing to judge things by the situation. So I would say he is becoming more chaotic. My guess if this trend continues he would be some form of chaotic good. But at current he is hovering around neutral.

      No he doesn't. Having a sad backstory isn't a get out of jail free card for being an asshole. It's not even like his bitterness was directed at just adventurers either. He had no idea old lady! Copper was an adventurer, but was still a dick to her. The guy may have experienced hardships making him sympathetic, but at the end of the day he wasn't some misunderstood tragic figure.

    • @zhoupact8567
      @zhoupact8567 5 лет назад +18

      When did being a dick become a crime? Everyone is a dick from time to time. And disliking a group for your experience with them is shit, that is something a lot of people can relate to. For its also such a basic and normal thing that we all fall into to some degree.
      This character has a better reason for his distaste than most I would say. When I look around in the real world people go full donkey over far lefss.

    I have a story about an old man it's quite long so I apologise in advance. My husband joined a game that I'm playing in for a one off session. Our DM, as lovely that he is will happy throw everything off the rails for a funny idea.
    My husband brought an old befuddled wizard named Fizban (Dragonlance fans can probably guess where this is going), anyway he joins/follows/stalks the party. Me, a dragonborn ex cultist(cult if the dragon) druid and our bard start being mean to this old guy. Everytime he went to cast a spell the DM would roll a dice to determine what spell would happen. Fizban tried to cast fireball but instead cast fly. Me being sick of this bullshit wild shaped into a giant spider, tried to web him and missed. In response Fizban used suggestion to tell me to change back and stop attacking him which knocked out his concentration on the the fly spell. He landed right on top of me damaging us both. I could have looked the other way (by counting to ten) at the mind control but falling on me was unacceptable. I lost my temper and tried to punch him in the face. Rolled a nat 1 and missed. Luckiest nat 1 I ever rolled. The DM said after the game that had I got him he would have tranformed into a dragon.
    He did change into a dragon by the end of the session scaring the crap out of everyone but it wasn't because of anyone in the party, 2 cragcats tore his human form in half. From that day I decided that I should be nicer to old people, just incase they are a dragon in disguise.

    as a DM, 100% sure that DM made that up that backstory on the spot to make the rogue feel bad

    • @Zedrinbot
      @Zedrinbot  5 лет назад

      Nope, actually I know the full reason, he revealed it to me after the game was ended prematurely.
      *everyone* in the town didn't like adventurers (something we all had realized), and there was a big plot reason behind it (and it had to do with all the shit going down in the game)

    its funny because you know the dm probably changed the old mans story to make the rogue feel bad...
    he probably hated adventurers because they stole from him numerous times, and then the dm is like, lets make him feel bad. gj dm, we like you :)

    • @Zedrinbot
      @Zedrinbot  5 лет назад

      nah. Said in the other comments, already know the full backstory myself, and it relates to literally the entire town.
      The entire city hated adventurers and it's cause the last group that went through the town before our party did did a lot of evil shit (murder being a common one).

  • @chipburger2849

    During one of my D&D games, we were fighting the town's guards after some suspicious behavior, and throwing acid balls at the evil mayor's face. The guards were particularly easy to take down, especially because no one likes working for the mayor. One of my sister's characters, who is a huge half orc, decided to lift up one of the guards, and toss him into a near by well.
    that was probably one of the best take downs we ever did in that party

    Me now: And I think to myself I was a holy undertaker, who sells corpses to necromancers for a price yass

    This reminds me of the time while doing a 5e premade session, we infiltrated a camp of cultists and kobolds dressed as fellow cultists, the elves disguised with a spell. We managed to egg on a drunken cultist named Steve to attack the kobalds, causing a distraction for us to save prisoners and escape. It was wild from start to finish!

    Doesn't make it right to be a jerk either way, but if you do try to be a jerk back, well now there are two jerks instead of one now id'n there.
