Great interview that throws good light on the current problems in Malayalam cinema. Very professional approach by Sri Kamal. He is not at all blaming the young artists. He has taken the audience through what should be done to keep the film industry sustainable. Hope all stakeholders will consider his views and change accordingly so that film industry survives.
An important idea expressed by him is that out of a films' budget a standard percentage must be allocated for meeting various expenses. Otherwise, after the remuneration of stars and other technicians, there will be nothing left for production of the film.
What follows from these ideas is, due to the above trend of high remuneration, only high budget movies can be produced with higher risk to the producer. Selfishness of artistes can kill this industry. A star must take a percentage of film budget as remuneration. Producer must also use suitable artists according to budget who claims only a percentage of budget as remuneration.
The basic principle to be followed by all "Live and let live".

Such mature conversation. But u both got one thing wrong. Shane asked for editing not because it is a custom. Becuase he felt cheated. And thenonly way to confirm it is by checking it. He has never asked for editing before. So focusing on editing and ignoring the underlying problem is so unfair to the cinema industry and to the actor. i wonder no one is talking about ticket rates. Can a middle class family of 4 or 5 go for a movie shelling 1000 to 1500 rupee. With so many avenues for entertainment does movies made in malayalam have the quality of contend to spend that kind of Money. If cost of production is the factor that contributes to such high ticket rates then industry will have to rethink on the remuneration to actors and other areas of expenditure and consolidate expenses so that people will come back to movie halls and enjoy the movies and the act of going for it.

All this is because of the stupid educational system,that was implemented in Kerala in late 1980 s and in Cbse by early 1990s . Giving importance to Creativity in all subjects. Every fool became a writer,poet , director without even reading a single novel. There are script writing in school syllabus, but no stories that move a human mind. A 6 year old too is forced to think think n think without any base.Then came the IT boom and they were forced to do projects and were taught to cut n paste , manipulate, edit etc etc. All became ALL ROUNDERS ( BIG ZERO )That is exactly the new gen doing
Earlier education had good stories. Those who loved searched for novels ,they became voracious readers and only the true talents alone gradually bloomed into creative field .

Just as the director and actors deserve the respect for their efforts the fate of the film is finally decided by the audience so they should also respect the intelligence of the audience. They will always embrace a good film and remember it over the years. Even Romancham is only an average film .Can it be compared to a Bharatham or a Kireedam? സൂപ്പർ താരങ്ങളെ ആരും വെള്ള പൂശി പോവണ്ട..!! 2005 ന് ശേഷം വർഷത്തിൽ നല്ല സിനിമകളുടെ എണ്ണം വളരെ കുറവ് ആയിരുന്നു. സൂപർ താരങ്ങളും അവരെ തലയിൽ കൊണ്ട് നടന്ന ഫാൻസ്‌ അസ്സോസിയേഷന്സും നിർമ്മാതാക്കൾക്കും ഇതിൽ പങ്കുണ്ട്. ഇത് മനസ്സിലാക്കാൻ വലിയ ബുദ്ധി ഒന്നും വേണ്ട. 1990s vs 2005 ശേഷം ഉള്ള ഫിലിംസ് ആയിട്ടു ഒരു താരതമ്യം നടത്തി നോക്കിയാൽ മതി. മലയാള സിനിമ നശിച്ചു നാറാണക്കല്ലു എടുത്തതോടു കൂടെ ആണ് സന്തോഷ് പണ്ഡിറ്റ് വരെ കേറി വന്നത്. 2012 ഇൽ ഉസ്താദ് ഹോട്ടലിലിന്റെ വരവോടുകൂടി ഒരു മാറ്റം വന്നുവെങ്കിലും ഇപ്പോഴും ഈ പ്രതിസന്ധി തുടരുന്നു. വടക്കൻ മേഖലകളിലെ കഥയ്ക്കും പശ്ചാത്തലങ്ങൾക്കും കൂടുതൽ അംഗീകാരം കിട്ടി എന്നതൊഴിച്ചാൽ 90s നിലവാരത്തിൽ ഇപ്പോഴും എത്തീട്ടില്ല മലയാളം സിനിമ. നല്ല കഥകൾക്കും നല്ല പെർഫോമൻസുകൾക്കും മുൻ‌തൂക്കം നൽകി സിനിമയെ സപ്പോർട്ട് ചെയ്യണം, ഇനിയെങ്കിലും, നമ്മളൊക്കെ !!. അല്ലാതെ താരങ്ങളെയും പ്രൊമോഷൻ വീഡിയോ ഇന്റർവ്യൂ കണ്ടല്ല. പ്രേക്ഷകർക്ക് ഈ തകർച്ചയിൽ നിന്ന് മലയാള സിനിമയെ തിരിച്ചു കൊണ്ടുവരാൻ വലിയ ഒരു പങ്കു വഹിക്കാൻ ഉണ്ട്. കമൽ സർ പറയുന്നത് പോലെ തിരക്കഥയ്ക്കും തിരക്കഥാകൃത്തിനും കൊടുക്കുന്ന പ്രാധാന്ന്യം കൂടണം.

ഇന്നത്തെ മലയാള സിനിമയ്ക്ക് വലിയ സാഹിത്യകാരന്മാരുടെ കഥയുടെയൊന്നും ആവശ്യമില്ല കാരണം ഇപ്പോൾ വേണ്ടത് നല്ല പച്ചതെറി എഴുതവനെയാണ്.പണം മുടക്കു ന്നവൻ്റെ ജോലിക്കാരാനാണ് നടനും മറ്റുള്ളവരും അത് ആരും മറക്കാതിരിക്കുക. പ്രശ്നം തീർന്നു.
