maybe its the masochist in me but x6 just consistently stays my favorite x series game. imo if sigma had no involvement as the final antagonist in this game it wouldve cemented itself as a standout title. maybe scrub out zero too so this could be X's first big bad he had to handle alone
I agree, but Zero still could've worked in X6. What they could've done was shown Isoc working on him and reviving him in Gate's lab while in a attempt to try to control him, while creating the nightmare, and at the same time trying to kill X as Wily intended for Zero to originally do.
What a magnificent hack. I wish this helps boost it's popularity alot, the game looks decent, if not even good now. The enemy variety is still pretty bad just like the original game (which i doubt could've been altered much anyways) but everything else has seen such a huge lift in quality in some cases. The developers would be proud to see their rushed project reach a respectable level of quality.

rescues not giving extra lives is bullshit, not being able to continue stage after game over is also bullshit... besides that, it would be acceptable 👍
@@FeelingShred It depends what you mean by the defense sucking now, idk about that. I don't mind them limiting the Falcon armor saber as it gives more purpose to using the other two armors more. I don't mind the reploids not giving you HP or lives anymore because in the original you ended up with like Max lives in no time. they at least still have a purpose now because they still give you parts. No comments on the Zero Buster from me, I haven't messed around with it but I didn't like how broken it was in the original, you could literally kill half the bosses by standing in place and just smashing shoot, when zeros gameplay style should reward melee combat much more than ranged combat. If you want reliable range options, just go with x. I also really don't mind the game over forcing you to go back to the start of the stage because it gives lives a meaningful purpose, in the original you very often had max lives, along with the ex tank that lets you start to with four instead of two, so when you can just restart the boss fight from the little room right before them it makes lives as meaningless as the score system for Mega Man 1. No comments on the last one personally.

It's always so weird to me how janky Sigma is in this one. Like you came in on him while he was changing clothes, and he decided that getting into a fistfight with you was the best idea in that moment.
Those stages are so much more playable without the Nightmare Effects turning off the lights, shoving copies of X and Zero on your face and raining down destruction on you for no reason, even without the tweaked level design.
the vastly different main level design. They keep the general concept but the special area in Blizzard Wolffang normally needs the fire hazard to acess and well put one of the saveable reploids over a pit of spikes
haha Search for "megaman x6 nametag playthrough" This guy that goes by the name Nametag experienced the game for the 1st time ever and recorded footage of it, you can pretty much understand the game's mechanics and the Metroidvania aspects of it from the guy's commentary along the ride. And you don't need to suffer the game's pain to enjoy it, you can simply skip parts of the video ahead 👍
in fact this Nametag guy was actually impressive for a 1st-ever run of the game "blind" (without knowing anything in advance) He was able to collect most rescues without having armor parts or necessary upgrade parts to get them, impressive in itself. And he finished the game without playing as Zero (Capcom wanted to turn Zero into forced obligatory to finish game so hard on this one, bleh)
x6 is one of my fave psx games back in the day and will stay in my heart til the day i die and I've learned recently that nightmare zero is pink which is different from black zero lol talk about late, me knowing this i mean

Tweaks barely changes anything related to level design, most of it is quality-of-life changes to make X6 a much more tolarable game. I'd say Tweaks is more suitable for newer players while this is for X6 veterans

Don't agree about Zero but yes to the rest. X7's plot would also be better if we didn't know it's all Sigma from the get go.

The best stage in X6 was 15th in my practice list. It was better than X3's, X5's, X7's and X8's best stages.
