I've been trying to replicate your techniques since the first tutorial and I just wanted to say that you have changed how I view almost every aspect of painting. Thank you. I hope one day I get the chance to attend one of your workshops!

Marco seems to be a classically trained artist which gives him a technical and creative advantage over other content creators. Additionally, he seems to be an accomplished instructor. Marco's content makes his teachings available in a practical way without vendor lock-in to a specific paint range. I love the full-length vides on Patreon; such a great community with a diverse range of skill levels. Top notch!!!

The color theory step of using the translucent turquoise over the magenta to get chromatic black in a shifting shadow was brilliant. Just brilliant. 🙂

What's interesting is how you can get these slight shifts in hue among black(s) and the tricks played on our eyes. Rembrandt's "The Night Watch" used black mixed from blue and orange. Michelangelo used hardly any black at all and instead used neon/pastel colors where black should be for the Sistine Chapel, yet those areas still appear to be dark. We see similar techniques used by more contemporary artists, like Blanche and Frazetta.
I'm always down for more tutorials on painting black and white. Both are really tricky, especially when you're new to painting.

I'm pretty sure I got the idea of using metallics while using NMM style from you, and it's been a game changer! Especially for large units where I'm only looking for tabletop quality doing a 2 step yellow then gold highlight or grey then silver highlight or drybrush looks totally good enough from 4' away and is super quick. I dunno that I've got the time to ever get as good as you, but so many of your ideas still work for a painter like me who is rarely striving to push the envelope, instead hoping to just get more armies on the table, and painting slightly better and much faster is a complete win in my book. Keep up the awesome videos.

This is great! I'm wanting to paint this model when it comes in with some Blanche inspired colors. Sharp cool blacks with warm creamy whites and reds that just pop off. In your color sketching, in theory you could flip the sketch to paint highlights with a turquoise, and transition with magenta right? Then use more blue tones rather then purple to brush in highlights?
