I was about to ask the same question. Looks like it’s a lot easier to use than green stuff (although, I’m under no illusions that I’d be anywhere near as good with it as Trovarion).
@@trovarion How does it compare to greenstuff mixed with various amounts of milliput? Anything it can do better that the mix can't? Awesome work of course!
The model position/compositon really showcases how keen your sculptor's eye is. Keeping the eagle at an angle frames the models face from the front, ties together the lines from the other perspectives in a fluid way, and above all heightens a sense of movement: the model strides forward launching the eagle while extending the other arm+hammer behind it. The model is truly dynamic (not off-balance). Bravo!
I have never seen a miniature refresh fall so universally flat. Literally everyone is dunking on our boy Coteaz. Really makes me wonder who the hell is grenelighting this stuff?
It's very bizarre. If it was just a question of taste then it would make sense but the design doesn't even really look like the previous model or artwork apart from in the broad concepts.
Yeah so many of the new 40k models just look so awkwardly posed and bulky. Almost like they're action figures instead of statues. But aos is out there with absolutely stunning sculpts again and again and again.
The combo between the lack of creativity and personnality in the GW sculpt, and the way it's mold cast making it complex to assemble with many ugly lines to hide with putty... Clearly something is going wrong in the process at GW. You did an AMAZING job on this mini, I'm in awe of your sculpting skills, and kitbashing skills ! Can't wait to see how you paint it
It's a problem I only see in 40K honestly. The Necromunda, Bloodbowl and even AoS minis have tons of personality still. I haven't had too much issue with the ugly lines either with those.
@@Ben-fk9ey Or trying to simplify models in 40k as they see it as the intro game into the GW universe. In comparison, as mentioned above, all other subgames are releasing more and more intricate and higher quality sculpts.
The trim on the inquisitor I on the leg is insane. In a video like this it is easy to forget how absolutely tiny these minis are, you are sculpting parts that are less than a millimeter. The individual hair strands are also blowing my mind.
This has to be one of your best videos. I think you should seriously consider following a similar format for future videos. Part 1 - resculpt, Part 2 - painting. Amazing job mate. Keep it up.
Chris: I own a 3-d printer. Me: You ARE a 3-d printer! Stop and think about the scale of the figure... now picture how tiny a SHIN is for that figure... now calculate the size of the Inquisitorial symbol on that... Make sure to do side-by-side with the original figure so we, the audience, can see how far you've come a painter (as I, for one, am very curious)!
Whoa... you weren't kidding about all the work that went into this conversion. I've seen a lot of cool kitbashes on YT but this one takes the prize for maximum effort. Thanks Chris!
This is amazing, it just sucks that you essentially have to resculpt and redesign virtually every element of the model to make it look like its supposed to. Cant wait to see it all painted up!
holy fuck. i thought your miniature paints were amazing already, but you sculpting skills are something else. that figure is like 50% putty. with all these youtube miniature painting videos, i often tend to forget how tiny all these bits actually are. to sculpt something like those skulls and inquisition symbols on that scale is really impressive. not a SM/inquisition fan, but that turned out great.

I really couldn’t bear the official model but Chris’s re sculpt is mind blowing good. Every part of it is perfectly conceived and executed and I’m in total awe of the sculpting. So clean and sharp.
I remember when I first found you on Twitch many years ago, and you were sculpting your original miniatures on stream. Seeing a video with so much sculpting included is just nostalgia for me. Oh, and to add to the main topic , you just nailed it. You made him look like how he is supposed to look! Keep up the great work... and paint him!
I would love to see more sculpting focused videos. Watching you go through the process is really inspiring and helpful when tackling my own kit bashing/conversion projects.
I keep forgetting that you're not just a RUclips miniature artist but also a golden demon winner! This resculpt looks so much better then the model GW released! I really enjoyed watching this kind of content! I hope your show it painted soon.
Breathtaking resculpt! Now THIS is a mini that actually represents the character in lore, not the abomination big GW pumped out. Looking forward to seeing what you'll do with the paint job on him!
Its absolutely incredible to see your sculpting work. I really hope we see more of it in the future, since this and your flayed one video are favourites by now, purely from seeing your skill as a sculptor

I'm jealous of your sculpting skills, amazing! Tried and failed making white scars simbols for my HH minis, so I can really appreciate how much effort went into this.
the contrapostto you gave him is the icing on the cake imo. you took a very static and otherwise boring model and made it so it had a shift in weight, a counterbalance. wonderful to see actual sculptors apply their skills into the hobby!

Oh my gosh!! This was such an amazing and inspiring tutorial. I also remember that being an iconic image for me when I was collecting Grey Knights and inquisitors - very cool codex!! Another great tutorial 😊
Trovarion's conversion is BOSSSSS! There was a 3D model based off the cover image within 48 hours thank goodness. The GW model could be immediately improved by applying a hammer repeatedly to the designer.
