If it's too long to read ignore it. This is just a personal "Theory" nothing is confirmed. Not like that gas was actually dangerous or deadly. The gas is affected by anger so he most likely knew from the start that once he passed out Aether would have never risked anything. Thinking logically Aether passed out, you still have emotions of course but when you pass out you don't feel anger or any strong emotion anymore because you are sleeping and the emotions too are "sleeping", so I don't think he was trying to kill him at least here because this is literally the worst way if you want to kill someone, if the gas was more similiar to a poison it would have worked for sure in killing him, but a gas that goes with emotions can't kill because once you pass out you stop feeling that emotion unless he kept dreaming about Scaramouche and how angry he made him so even in his sleep he felt angry, but it's unlikely that it happened. I'm pretty sure that he purposely did this because he didn't wanted to kill Aether (for whatever reason) and he knew that someone would have done something to save him, now the question is why is the Traveler so important to be worth a Gnosis. It honestly feel more like Scaramouche and Yae know each other and are planning something, I know she's going to be released as playable so she's not completely evil, but I feel like she will first betray and then apologize. It feels really strange their meeting and even if Yae is just one of the good guys it's strange that she saved the Traveler by giving the Gnosis away. First case scenario, she is one of the good guys and exchanged the Gnosis because she knows something that we don't know about Aether that make him worth of being exchanged with something so important, making him equally important as a Gnosis. Second case scenario, Scaramouche and Yae Miko meeting and exchange of the Gnosis was already being prepared and Aether was just a excuse for the trade so to not make Yae suspicious when not having the Gnosis anymore. After all it's never that easy in the game, the first time in Mondstadt everything went smoothly and there wasn't any secret affair between God and Fatui, Venti Gnosis was stolen without a warning. On the other hand Zhongli and Signora already had plans of exchanging the Gnosis without Aether and Childe knowing it until they showed us the exchange. The last is a exchange between Yae and Scaramouche so this is not casual, there must be something. Either she did it because she know something about Aether that make him even more important than a Gnosis/equally important as a Gnosis or she's acting behind the scenes like Scaramouche. He betrayed the Tsaritsa while Yae is a Kitsune, they are known to trick humans/people so maybe she's tricking us and she's along with another person who is tricking/betrayed someone trust. I'm not saying she's bad or that Scaramouche and Yae really are plotting something, but it sure feel interesting as a combination and it's strange to me how this happened. It must be one of the two, Aether being equally important as a Gnosis or Yae Miko and Scaramouche are secretly working together. The game makes things more elaborated the more it goes, for example some people suspect that Sumero have a fake God and the real God probably suggested this idea and it wouldn't be impossible honestly considering the game and how most cities don't need a God anymore. The first one was a simple "Venti left and they took his Gnosis" without anything really being planned behind the scenes (people suspect that it was actually planned only the part of his Gnosis being stealed as a unlucky incident but I'm not sure) but then the more it continued the more elaborated this Gnosis issues became.

Our protagonist got knock out again
They did Traveler dirty here tbh
Was he trying to kill him though? Looks like he just wanted to awaken something within him (Maybe something the Fatui could use as a weapon?)
This time he fully intended to kill him
Firstly, I have seen this in 2022.
According to Scaramouche, I am not thinking of Wanderer but killer..
Seriously? Have you played simulanka? Or current subzerus festival?
YOU KIDDING ME? THIS IS ALL I GET OF HIM IN THIS QUEST?

Why is paimon not affected? Why only the traveller that affected?
Because piamon wasn’t as angry as traveler she was only a little bit mad but traveler was ready to kill scarmouche
