We stole their life’s work from them but they don’t make us feel bad because they don’t believe they’ve lost. They only insult and taunt us. The balladeer made me feel bad cause he wasn’t calling us filthy mortals who tried to touch the divine. He was scared to go back to being a mortal. Helpless. Hurt. And in his own eyes a failure. If a villain was scared when they lost we would find it much harder to feel good beating them. If they cried. If they felt heart broken.
I just don't know why having the gnosis taken away from him was really sad, the fact that he wanted not for the sense of power (maybe a little) but because without it he lost a sense of purpose, like an ambition

From Aether's point of view, he tried to kill me in 1.1, caused the death of many people via distributing delusions (wich also caused the death of my battle buddy in the army), destabilized the region of Inazuma by taking the chances given of the flawed 'honor' of some politicians, drugged me, ruined the Kaedehara's reputation, and attempted to turn an entire nation in shambles just to fuel his "im destined to become god" complex, tried to kill the Dendro Archon, tried to kill me again, and his actions worsened the problems of Eleazar and the Withering. Yeah, i wont catch him when he falls head-first into the floor in a very pathetic way.
He was created for that, he wanted to reach he’s purpose. That was the only important thing for him, reach the objective he was created for 😞 then he felt like a failure again…

He truly only wanted a purpose for his life, he felt betrayed after being thrown aside by his mother, he felt empty not being able to complete the purpose he was created for, it’s such a human ambition…his eyes and voice everything as Nahida was taking the gnosis away…it was all so “human” so heartbreaking…I hope he gets a resolution with Ei

Yes seeing him look sad as nahida takes away the gnosis it somehow felt human it's like he has grew emotions due to the gnosis it's like he lost the only thing he was thriving for his ambition his emotions his voice tells it all it's like the he wants the gnosis or more like needs the gnosis in his life or in him his emotions itself already tells on how much he grew on the impact of humans who has constant show of their emotions in which he had adapted from.

Unlike the other final bosses of the nations, this one didn't give that same sweetness of the victory. It instead felt like we were just stomping him into the ground, without knowing of his past. I couldn't help but feel so sad for him after he fell to the ground.
He was the one who picked a fight with us. He could've gotten what he wanted if he didn't let his hatred control him. This is an angry child throwing a tantrum then crying once he realizes that his actions have consequences.

Yes, 9:40 is extremely hurtful, but it was 9:46 image that truly pierced my heart. The image of desperation. Look how ungraceful he looks, so animalistic, so *mortal*. His scrambling forward and breaking the glass of divinity showed his true nature - that of not a god. Desperation is a very hard emotion to observe nonchalantly for many. Because it is distress and, typically, end of someone’s life/ rope. (Ha. Ironic, his ropes actually snapped)
Yes, i completely agree; 9:46 was the most impactful for me as well, with the line “I’ll never go back” being a close second. I can heavily relate to his position and seeing that fear and desperation portrayed so fucking accurately to how I felt at a very dark period in my life? It shook me to my core. I couldn’t rewatch this scene at first just because it hurt too much to think about, but thankfully I’m a lot better now. Still, i hope he can let go of his grudges and overcome his grief and trauma like i did. There’s so much outside of ones “purpose” or “world” that can bring you so much happiness. You just have to let go and have an open mind. There’s so much out there. I hope anyone struggling right now can learn to believe in themselves a little; get back on their feet and keep going. This is all there is; don’t cut it short.
he's not right, that line serves to show how misguided he is and how much his view of people ('mortals') has been warped by the repeated 'betrayals' he's suffered. believing that reality is only pain is an extremely sad and incorrect outlook
I FELT SO BAD FOR HIMMM even tho i know its right scara is one of my favorite characters and he looked genuinely pained, his voice actor is so amazing too
The raiden puppet does the same thing in one of the inazuma cutscenes. we can see her eyes go dim as ei takes control. i wonder if both puppets can turn themselves on and off at will.
as sad as this is, it's pretty interesting to think about his defeat is a parellel to ei's. when you fought her, you needed to use the collective ambitions of the nation's vision bearers against a god's eternal ambition. in this fight, you had to use the collective wisdom of a nation in order to defeat the everlasting lord of arcane wisdom it's interesting to think how scaramouche, the supposed new god of wisdom, was defeated by the very thing he was meant to represent. it mirrors ei's own defeat in using the people's wills to shake her own imo. like mother, like son also i want to get stepped on by both of them so theres that too
Another parallel would be in their origins and how they deal with their grief, both suffered a devastating loss and both then attempted to find a way to never feel that same emotion again. Ei built the Shogun to cut herself off from her emotions while Scara tried to destroy his. The apple really doesn't fall far from the tree.
I love how the cutscene was done almost as if Scara's the main character in it. WE have won, but the music is sad. Because for Scara this is a sad event. Also, the music is a remixed version of the music in "The Divine Will", further pushing the emphasis on Scaramouche. The cutscene is playing his theme, and not the Balladeer's theme, HIS theme, whatever his original name was (it's not Kunikuzushi btw). The cutscene isn't meant to be triumphant or epic like how Signora's was. It's supposed to make you feel bad for him, and for you to know you should do this but to hate you're doing it too.

After the deaths of Katsuragi and the unnamed kid, he decided to name himself Kunikuzushi after a role in Kabuki Theater. His original name, and I quote from the Husk Set: "And as for the name he had once used, even he no longer remembered it." We don't know his original name; there's zero clues on what it is. All we know is that he once used a name that wasn't Scaramouche nor Kunikuzushi that he's now forgotten.

This cutscene is probably one of the saddest ones...it really shows the despair he felt and how much he craved having that Gnosis. The "That's mine!" part especially hurt.
i think regardless of what others say, this series of cutscenes prove that scaramouche and nahida are very well-written. scaramouche because the story allows you to sympathize with him even though he's been a little shit and got what he deserved, and nahida because she was actually threatening and wasn't as much of a pushover as people expected her to be. this definitely is one of my favorite storylines so far in the game aside from the chasm's.
I feel so bad for him, all he wanted was to have a purpose and to prove himself worthy to Ei after she abounded him when she thought he wasn't good enough. Everything he worked so hard for was taken away from him yet again. "I'll never go back!" His VA did such a good job of catching the emotion in this scene
His main purpose was to store the electro gnosis. That was his "ambition" and he finally got that chance. He had thought that he finally achieved his purpose, and finally showed that he was strong enough for the gnosis. But it was only for a second. He failed. His purpose was to store the gnosis for eternity. And he wasn't able to complete that. He has now been rejected of the gnosis 2 times now. Once by Nahida right now, but previously he was discarded before he even got a chance, by his own creator, his mother, Ei. He was just stripped of his ambition by a God. Does that sound familiar? Let's see if he gets another ambition. Also yeah, I cried when he sounded so sad.
i can't believe its been a year since this arc. i still come back to watch the cutscenes every once in a while. this was when genshin was at its best era and i was so excited as an early scaramouche fan.
the moment when all of sumeru worked together in helping the traveller find a way to defeat the balladeer through the akasha GAVE ME CHILLS. an amazing ending to the sumeru chapter! i dont think it could have ended better than this tbh
He was still a harbinger without the gnosis[and more powerful than signora], just losing the gnosis hurt him so much emotionally that he completely gave up
For the first time… in my life I felt really sad to the point I cried… This ONE BOSS is special all the bosses I defeated playing games made feel victorious but this made feel super guilty… The light on his eyes… and his broken voice I didn’t knew if I was doing good…
i don’t see someone evil, i see a kind soul who’s been hurt too many times and has gone dark and been corrupted. I rlly feel bad for him. his past is so saddd and u can tell the desperation in his voice, he just wants to fulfill his purpose and have a sense of meaning. and the way he’s like “please, not the gnosis”. 😢
I feel like a lot of people hate Nahida after this, but you can see her slightly hesitate when Scara begins to plead. But I think she realized how stuck he was in his ways and how he needed to change or he’d never feel complete even after his ‘ascension’
Although you can understand the "pain" Scaramouche felt after that fight, it is also important to understand why it must be done. His selfish ambition knows no bound and he even treats people with such inferiority. If he was left undefeated, he will undoubtedly wreck havoc and challenge other gods just to prove to himself and his mother that he is worthy of the gnosis. And in effect, innocent people will have to suffer just because of that. He craves war, people, and there is no good thing in war. Let's just hope that he and Ei will have a good talk and all that.
THE SCENE WHERE NAHIDA TOOK THE GNOSIS FROM HIM WRENCHED MY HEART OUT OF MY CHEST. I CANT STOP REWATCHING IT. THE LOOK OF DESPAIR AS HE TRIED TO GET IT BACK MAKES ME SO SAD
Honestly, Scaramouche needed this loss as a wake up call. Nahida and him aren't that different, so it's interesting to see their different approaches to their own situations. He deserved and needed this loss to finally understand himself and to let go of his past, that's probably why he will get an anemo visions. Anemo represents people who need to free themselves from something, but also people who have already freed themselves.
Sad, but quite satisfying. He was so arrogant towards Nahida with all that shit talking. Nahida kept quiet, despite knowing all too well that he's already fallen into her genjutsu. The fight had already ended before it began, seeing the real god putting the fake god in his place is a well deserved punishment.
right? it's understandable that he was only proving himself that he is no more than just a vessel. but he can literally do that thing without risking lives - if not a nation. all the measures he did were counter productive and instead exacerbated his whole suffering.
Now this is a nuanced take. Im getting tired of all the simps who are crying for him. "Oh poor scara he just wants to be loved" yeah, as if he didnt hurt and step on other people to reach his goals.
Probably the most tragic Fatui Harbinger beatdown. Childe was anything but... And Signora is only tragic in her lore and pathetic in her final moments.

He probably wanted the gnosis, because the gnosis symbolize his ambition. Basically without it, he thinks he's not worthy to be a human. Or maybe he treat the gnosis as his "heart" to feel that he's a human just like others. But when he received an anemo vision, there's a chance he treats the vision as his new "heart"
He definitely deserved it. I for one, am kind of a Scaramoustache fan. But I know damn well he’s a shithead. We humbled him, but I did feel bad when he said “No! Anything but the gnosis!” Patrick is too good at his job, I swear ! Awesome voice acting, and the way everything got animated is just amazing
Y’know, I was wondering why Scara gave up ALL hope on trying to get it back, but then i realized that it’s a Gnosis. Nahida is a god. It wouldn’t be hard for her to, y’know, gain control of it somehow? So that maybe when she touched it Scara truly felt that, yep, he can’t get it back. Like feeling all control has left your hands, and, in his case, his life’s purpose too.
I was happy to defeat a boss like him, but when he begged to not take the gnosis from him, i cried my life out, it was his porpouse, he spent his life in it i felt so sad to take it away from him:((((
thinking of it now theyre so similar these two both were made by their archon to serve as puppets, but one was just for testing while the other was a fully fledged one one had the gnosis all along, the other had to work for it and earn it for hundreds of years both wanted to become god, but never managed to until this quest and the fact its electro AND dendro, which has a connection in lore just makes it more sad
Usually when I beat the main boss of a archon quest I feel accomplished but this…this felt like I just destroyed this entire man’s meaning in life. As if I took a kids project and just crushed it, and just for that I’m pulling for him cause I feel REALLY bad now
I just saw this heartbreaking scene earlier, and here is my perception of the sad momentum; Kunikuzushi was born only to be a vessle and to protect the Electro Gnosis, but since Raiden Shogun or his Creator saw how delicate he could be, or the fact that he could possess true mortal emotions, he was discarded away, and she got rid of him. (Yae Miko also told Raiden Shogun to kill Kunikuzushi, I think.) Not later then, he was adopted by the Fatui Harbingers to earn the codename; Scaramouche, or the Balladeer. But recently, we also remember that he's the one who confiscated or traded for the Electro Gnosis, by Yae Miko.. Giving him the permission and the right to do whatever a puppet could do to the Electro Gnosis. Shortly after, there have been mentions of "creating a new god" by the hearsay of the Akademiya, that we found out because of Haypasia's capsule(i think?) Then here is when Scaramouche comes in, or rather, the new God of not Sumeru, but the Akademiya. He was created, built up, in order to be a belief or a new replacement for Greater Lord Rukkhadevata. He would have actually be a real god if only the day of the Jnarghba Festival hadn't come. If the festival didn't happen, then the Knowledge Capsules would've been inserted into the new god's chestplate which could lead him to have the spiritual aura of a real god. But then, here comes Nahida, Paimon and the most fierce of all; Traveler. They battled 168 times, the exact number of times of Samsara's developed in order to make the new god, and it was enough for Nahida to install and load his entire data, enough to take and confiscate the Electro gnosis back from him. The Fall of the Balladeer, the last stance of the 6th Fatui Harbinger; Scaramouche. After his Electro Gnosis was confiscated and taken from him, his puppet strings ripped apart, he watched his dream die, he never got to fulfill the reason why he was created in the FIRST PLACE; To hold the Electro Gnosis. Shortly after a long coma, here he is, rebirthed as Wanderer. Sorry if my interpretation wasn't accurate, I am free to edit this comment whenever I could possible can.

I couldn’t rewatch this scene at first just because it hurt too much to think about, but thankfully I’m a lot better now. Still, i hope he can let go of his grudges and overcome his grief and trauma like i did. There’s so much outside of ones “purpose” or “world” that can bring you so much happiness. You just have to let go and have an open mind. There’s so much out there. I hope anyone struggling right now can learn to believe in themselves a little; get back on their feet and keep going. This is all there is; don’t cut it short.

as sad as this is, it's pretty interesting to think about his defeat is a parellel to ei's. when you fought her, you needed to use the collective ambitions of the nation's vision bearers against a god's eternal ambition. in this fight, you had to use the collective wisdom of a nation in order to defeat the everlasting lord of arcane wisdom
it's interesting to think how scaramouche, the supposed new god of wisdom, was defeated by the very thing he was meant to represent. it mirrors ei's own defeat in using the people's wills to shake her own imo. like mother, like son

Another parallel would be in their origins and how they deal with their grief, both suffered a devastating loss and both then attempted to find a way to never feel that same emotion again. Ei built the Shogun to cut herself off from her emotions while Scara tried to destroy his. The apple really doesn't fall far from the tree.

I love how the cutscene was done almost as if Scara's the main character in it. WE have won, but the music is sad. Because for Scara this is a sad event. Also, the music is a remixed version of the music in "The Divine Will", further pushing the emphasis on Scaramouche. The cutscene is playing his theme, and not the Balladeer's theme, HIS theme, whatever his original name was (it's not Kunikuzushi btw). The cutscene isn't meant to be triumphant or epic like how Signora's was. It's supposed to make you feel bad for him, and for you to know you should do this but to hate you're doing it too.

We don't know his original name; there's zero clues on what it is. All we know is that he once used a name that wasn't Scaramouche nor Kunikuzushi that he's now forgotten.

This cutscene is probably one of the saddest ones...it really shows the despair he felt and how much he craved having that Gnosis. The "That's mine!" part especially hurt.
i think regardless of what others say, this series of cutscenes prove that scaramouche and nahida are very well-written. scaramouche because the story allows you to sympathize with him even though he's been a little shit and got what he deserved, and nahida because she was actually threatening and wasn't as much of a pushover as people expected her to be. this definitely is one of my favorite storylines so far in the game aside from the chasm's.
that final scene for scaramouche is some of the craziest voice acting I've seen in this game, it worked so well

His main purpose was to store the electro gnosis. That was his "ambition" and he finally got that chance. He had thought that he finally achieved his purpose, and finally showed that he was strong enough for the gnosis. But it was only for a second. He failed. His purpose was to store the gnosis for eternity. And he wasn't able to complete that. He has now been rejected of the gnosis 2 times now. Once by Nahida right now, but previously he was discarded before he even got a chance, by his own creator, his mother, Ei. He was just stripped of his ambition by a God. Does that sound familiar? Let's see if he gets another ambition.

the moment when all of sumeru worked together in helping the traveller find a way to defeat the balladeer through the akasha GAVE ME CHILLS. an amazing ending to the sumeru chapter! i dont think it could have ended better than this tbh

Although you can understand the "pain" Scaramouche felt after that fight, it is also important to understand why it must be done. His selfish ambition knows no bound and he even treats people with such inferiority. If he was left undefeated, he will undoubtedly wreck havoc and challenge other gods just to prove to himself and his mother that he is worthy of the gnosis. And in effect, innocent people will have to suffer just because of that. He craves war, people, and there is no good thing in war. Let's just hope that he and Ei will have a good talk and all that.

Honestly, Scaramouche needed this loss as a wake up call. Nahida and him aren't that different, so it's interesting to see their different approaches to their own situations.
He deserved and needed this loss to finally understand himself and to let go of his past, that's probably why he will get an anemo visions. Anemo represents people who need to free themselves from something, but also people who have already freed themselves.
Sad, but quite satisfying. He was so arrogant towards Nahida with all that shit talking. Nahida kept quiet, despite knowing all too well that he's already fallen into her genjutsu. The fight had already ended before it began, seeing the real god putting the fake god in his place is a well deserved punishment.
right? it's understandable that he was only proving himself that he is no more than just a vessel. but he can literally do that thing without risking lives - if not a nation. all the measures he did were counter productive and instead exacerbated his whole suffering.
Now this is a nuanced take. Im getting tired of all the simps who are crying for him. "Oh poor scara he just wants to be loved" yeah, as if he didnt hurt and step on other people to reach his goals.

Or maybe he treat the gnosis as his "heart" to feel that he's a human just like others. But when he received an anemo vision, there's a chance he treats the vision as his new "heart"

one had the gnosis all along, the other had to work for it and earn it for hundreds of years

Usually when I beat the main boss of a archon quest I feel accomplished but this…this felt like I just destroyed this entire man’s meaning in life. As if I took a kids project and just crushed it, and just for that I’m pulling for him cause I feel REALLY bad now
I just saw this heartbreaking scene earlier, and here is my perception of the sad momentum;
Kunikuzushi was born only to be a vessle and to protect the Electro Gnosis, but since Raiden Shogun or his Creator saw how delicate he could be, or the fact that he could possess true mortal emotions, he was discarded away, and she got rid of him. (Yae Miko also told Raiden Shogun to kill Kunikuzushi, I think.)
Not later then, he was adopted by the Fatui Harbingers to earn the codename; Scaramouche, or the Balladeer. But recently, we also remember that he's the one who confiscated or traded for the Electro Gnosis, by Yae Miko.. Giving him the permission and the right to do whatever a puppet could do to the Electro Gnosis. Shortly after, there have been mentions of "creating a new god" by the hearsay of the Akademiya, that we found out because of Haypasia's capsule(i think?)
Then here is when Scaramouche comes in, or rather, the new God of not Sumeru, but the Akademiya. He was created, built up, in order to be a belief or a new replacement for Greater Lord Rukkhadevata. He would have actually be a real god if only the day of the Jnarghba Festival hadn't come. If the festival didn't happen, then the Knowledge Capsules would've been inserted into the new god's chestplate which could lead him to have the spiritual aura of a real god.
But then, here comes Nahida, Paimon and the most fierce of all; Traveler. They battled 168 times, the exact number of times of Samsara's developed in order to make the new god, and it was enough for Nahida to install and load his entire data, enough to take and confiscate the Electro gnosis back from him.
The Fall of the Balladeer, the last stance of the 6th Fatui Harbinger; Scaramouche. After his Electro Gnosis was confiscated and taken from him, his puppet strings ripped apart, he watched his dream die, he never got to fulfill the reason why he was created in the FIRST PLACE; To hold the Electro Gnosis.
Shortly after a long coma, here he is, rebirthed as Wanderer.
