If I'm going to be 100% honest, I think there's just a little bit of overuse in the sfx that it becomes distracting at critical moments, especially at the shot showing the gang's reactions to Arlecchino stopped their attack. The "pop" sounds when their reactions appear is a little excessive when the audience is still recovering from the shock. (Not that they should be removed entirely; I like how it's used to transition the frames instead of how Genshin did it. I'd just suggest making them quieter so the focus is on the characters, not how they appeared.) Although I loved the sfx themselves, they added so much to the scenes and were genuinely so freaking perfect. They matched the vibe of the situation and were soooo nice to listen to! This is genuinely a great improvement from the original work. Thank you for making this video!!!
I totally understand the criticism, and I'll definitely keep it in mind. Thank you so much for the kind words and feedback, friend. You know that means the world to me! If it's not too much trouble, would it be okay if I ask your opinion on the Mavuika video I did too? I think I did better in terms of mixing there, but I would love to hear your opinion!
This was amazing. Everything from the weapon slashes, the ground cracking etc was absolutely on point. Only gripe was Arlecchino's blink which I felt shouldn't have been changed but that's a minor issue. Phenomenal job!
This sounds quite good! It all works together to add extra weight to the whole scene and gives it a different vibe. If I had to pick a favorite part, it would definitely be the transition from the crimson moon atmosphere to the quieter, more ambient sounds. I really liked the contrast there. As one commenter mentioned, some of the sound samples do feel a little bit all over the place, but after reading your explanation, I completely understand, this was just a fun side project and not something super serious. Now, there is one thing I've seen pointed out by other people in the comments here, and I want to reinforce it as I agree with the sentiment. Some of the sounds for her attacks could have used a slight "fiery magic" touch rather than an electric "zappy magic" vibe, if that makes any sense, as she is a character from the pyro/fire element. Additionally, there were some parts where it felt like there was a lot going on, and the sounds could have been a little more muted. But overall, I like this. It's very well put together and showcases your talent with sound design. I, for one, would definitely like to see a version of this with the original music if possible.
Thank you so much for the feedback! The crimson moon section and the quiet part after were my favorite parts to do, ironically. Thank you for understanding, I have my own share of apologies to give, for not doing my own research and just jumping headfirst into it. I might do one with the original music sometime, so keep an eye out for that, too. Thank you again for the kind words!
The sound being flat is on me, I didn't put much effort into mixing the whole thing either, it was just a fun little thing I wanted to get done asap. But the subtlety is something I specifically didn't want for this video. I wanted to overexaggerate the sound design, and it seems I've succeeded. Thanks for the feedback!
what in the absolute fuck this was pure gas the whole way through, it was PHENOMENAL!! I watched the official cutscene once after watching this, and then watched this again. The official one is so epic until you watch this, and realize that the music tends to be so overpowering that you can't really hear what happens in the scene. That's what I, with my limited knowledge about sound design, think. Huge fan of the lack of music when the Crimson Moon disappears, as opposed to how the music completely replaces the sound of their environment in the official. Great job
Thank you so very much for the kind words! You flatter me. I really wanted the Crimson Moon sequence to sound unique, because it looked absolutely jawdropping in the original!
I'm Sound Designer too and its so nice to see people commenting and appreciating our hard work. I loved several textures from this re-design, specifically the movements of the spikes, so much better than original one! your perspective of her power with some "gore" was interesting too and I had my doubts about the Perrys being from Sekiro, but I saw a comment of yours that confirms it, it worked very well! Would love see the version without Malenia's Music (only sfx)! Anyway, sorry for the long text, but it's nice to talk about our love field
Hi, Matheus! I'm glad to see a fellow sound designer in the wild! It's really heartwarming to see others appreciating our work fr. The kind words really mean a lot to me, they genuinely do! I'm thinking of doing an sfx-only cut of this, but it's gonna have to wait since I'm busy with commissions atm. Don't apologize for the comment, man, I'd love to chat more with you over this, sound design is one of the things I'm truly passionate about so any discussion is welcomed!

0:47 I'm sorry but I think you did a mistake here. You added electric sounds for Lynette when she's about to attack Arlecchino. You see Lynette has an anemo vision, meaning she can channel air powers. so instead of electric voice you could have just added a swish or blowing sound. It would have sounded perfect.
Thank you for pointing that out. I hadn't played the game, so I didn't know about her powers. I saw electricity-looking blue strikes and assumed they were electric. My bad!
for arlechino's skills or the weapon shounds, sure, but any other sound? i prefer the originals. i also prefer the originals music. this one sound more like a battle aftermath music where the heroes would mourn the death on the battlefield.
Yeah the sounds of arlecchino's attacks are a nice addition but I think there comes a point to where there's just too many sounds going on and once and it detracts from the impact of the scene. The music is also not really fitting.
bro i always thought this cutscene was seriously lacking some efforts audio wise, i'm quite glad you made this that was good fr, now we can fully appreciate it lol
Thank you so much! It is a mixing issue, as I didn't really put much time into it. I was ten hours deep in an passion side project for a game I hadn't played. Anything more would've been out of my free time lol
I'm not an SFX expert, let alone a critic. I just have ears that tell me this definitely added to the quality of the cutscene, which is impressive because it isn't as though the original left me feeling that the soundscape was empty per se. Some added sounds felt like they could've been implemented a little bit better, with fine perfectionistic rebalancing. There're plenty of contexts where less is more, but this made a great case that they could do more and it would be for the better of the experience. On one particular note: The way The Bell 'rang' when Freminet blocked that scythe attack was cheekily on-point. I caught a grin when I noticed that.
Thank you very much for the feedback! I love receiving critiques from any and all people, helps me get a better understand of what people like and what they don't. So I really appreciate the time you took to write this!
mmmm i rate it a 5/10. some audio was nicely put the rest didn't really match the tone. using electric sound effects didn't really fit her, knowing that she has pyro. some thumping sounds were more pronounced that it needed to be, like when freminet and lynette got thrown onto the floor. also with the eyes' original sound effect getting swapped out for another audio? nahhhh, that one was already perfect. progress is progress though, so keep it up!
Agree. Some things don't really need SFX as well. Most of the places where the electric SFX were used could have been replaced with something a lot more muted. Besides the fact that the electricity doesn't match the element, these kinds of magic usages just don't need so much audio emphasis. Some of the sword clashes reminded me of the SFX from Berserk 2016 with how clangy they were, particularly at 0:03 and 0:09. Effects for wind wooshing were also too pronounced, drawing emphasis to attacks that miss by a pretty wide margin and taking the viewer out of the larger scope of the fight. This happens at 0:07. All in all, there's a lot of micro focus, but it detracts from the macro perspective, a lot of repetition of specific effects, and over-emphasis on effects that could have been more muted such as magic usage. That aside, I really enjoyed the part with the blades coming out of the ground and moving towards Lyney, Lynette, and Freminet. The SFX that you used for bursting out of the ground were absolutely perfect. Great choice of SFX there. Also I really liked the sounds that Freminet and Lynette made when they got thrown. They sounded close to the camera, so the sound mixing matched the scene perfectly.
I knew some people wouldn't like the changes, but I made the video purely for my own entertainment, so I took creative liberty in that. Also, I did mention not having played the game, so finding out she's Pyro is interesting, I'll definitely keep it in mind for future projects. Thank you for your feedback!
Thank you so much for your feedback. I do understand the sentiment about micro-focus, and truth be told, that was exactly the kind of vibe I was going for. I'm inspired by Fromsoft's sound design, so that's where my decisions come from.
it does feel more crowded at times.. like there are too many sfx but for me it turned a boring scene into a scene with actual impact.. now i can actually feel the intensity of the fighting. ps just another question but in the recent animation where murata and capitano fight.. i noticed how murata's mic just lowers volume at random? is it like a mistake or am i just hallucinating? im referring to the line "let our blades do the talking" and a few more instances.
Naah I am sorry but this feels bit like a downgrade to me. The foley sounds of metal clings and ground breaking were good, but the impact and electricity effects felt generic and unoriginal. Just my two cents, roast me as you wish, idc.
@@darkmax204 in my best Mando voice: "This is the way." Appreciate the openess man, happy to offer critical ear anytime, without feedback there is less progress :)
Sory it actually feels noise. Just because theres a lot of cling and clang doesn't make it necessary to be added in. The focus is on the scene, not the clash.
Dude, this is good sound design! I definitely like it more than the original. I've always thought a lot of the sounds in genshin lack intensity. I like how the sound effects were louder than all the grunting from the characters.
Thank you so much for the compliments! I felt the scene to be particularly lacking in sound when I first saw it, so I had to do something about it lmao
Genshin Impact If the Sound Designers had poor taste and loved to constantly overuse sounds. Yes, it's rude, but if you make such a pretentious title, be prepared for harsh criticism. Also. You probably spent around 10 or 12 hours making this video, right? But finding the article on the wiki about Arlecchino and the Pyro element, and reading the key points that would help you choose the right SFX would have taken just one minute. And you wouldn't have to be explaining yourself in the comments now, saying "le me haven't played the game 🤨 muh sorry".
Don't worry about the rudeness, my friend. I came in totally prepared for people who can't comprehend a joke title! It took about nine to ten hours, yes. But it was one of those sudden bursts of energy that I didn't want interrupted in the slightest. Not having played the game, it was a fun challenge to figure things out on my own, I'll admit. I knew I'd made wrong choices, and that's why I apologized in advance, if you've seen the text in the video. Still, it was done purely for fun and I didn't expect the video to blow up as it did. Thank you for taking the time to comment though, I appreciate it!

Thank you so much for the feedback! I didn't play the game so I didn't know of their powers. I'm consulting my yapper friend about the game for Mavuika's video. So here's hoping I get things right next time!
Instantly recognised those Sekiro Deflection sounds... Amazing but I think that Arlecchino battle ost does fit her well
Thank you for the compliment and feedback! Glad to see Sekiro fans in this comment section!
@@darkmax204 Sekiro is my favourite FromSoft game and I think instead of Malenia OST, Radagon or maybe Lady Maria from Bloodborne might have fit well as Arle does have Maria references in her design and animations

I'd just suggest making them quieter so the focus is on the characters, not how they appeared.)
Although I loved the sfx themselves, they added so much to the scenes and were genuinely so freaking perfect.
“Sorry for what? This pitiful use for an attack?” 😂😂😂 had me rolling on the ground laughing 😂
Such a goated response tbh that shit was crazy
The sound designers do have mad budget, they just need to spend it 😭
REAL bruh lmfao
This was amazing. Everything from the weapon slashes, the ground cracking etc was absolutely on point. Only gripe was Arlecchino's blink which I felt shouldn't have been changed but that's a minor issue. Phenomenal job!
Thank you so much for the kind words!! You know they mean a lot to me!
The original has such a surrounding sound design and is more subtle
This is such a good work, but it's still more flat than the original one
I thought it looked like gore and electricity combined so I had to get creative. I did catch a lot of flack for not getting it right, but I enjoyed the challenge regardless.

My bad!
@@darkmax204 Its ok 👍

I'm gomna be honest, it feels like the over edited, indian soap opera with how absolutely everything has a sound xD

Oh this was so delicious🔥 combined w the amazing animation the scene just hits different
Thank you so much for the kind words!
for arlechino's skills or the weapon shounds, sure, but any other sound? i prefer the originals.
i also prefer the originals music. this one sound more like a battle aftermath music where the heroes would mourn the death on the battlefield.
Yeah the sounds of arlecchino's attacks are a nice addition but I think there comes a point to where there's just too many sounds going on and once and it detracts from the impact of the scene. The music is also not really fitting.
I appreciate the input, thank you!
bro i always thought this cutscene was seriously lacking some efforts audio wise, i'm quite glad you made this that was good fr, now we can fully appreciate it lol
Genshin could always use more prominent sound design, and I'm glad to provide that. Thank you so much for the kind words homie!
That’s a lot better but the music gets drowned out super easily. Just a mixing issue tho
Nah this is way higher than 5

it does feel more crowded at times.. like there are too many sfx but for me it turned a boring scene into a scene with actual impact.. now i can actually feel the intensity of the fighting.
ps just another question but in the recent animation where murata and capitano fight.. i noticed how murata's mic just lowers volume at random? is it like a mistake or am i just hallucinating?

Joke titles, my friend. Thanks for commenting!
