    I know this is four years old, but it's still a highly useful guide. I've had a DX for a while but really wanted to get into programming it. This helps enormously.

    the reface dx is so underrated...it makes fm synthesis a lot friendlier.
    A lot of people complain about the lack of the two more operators of the dx7, but the truth is that these operators are quite useless for 95% of the sounds.

      GreenHoleSun having different wave types and feedback is a massive short cut in making new fm sounds. I'm sold

      FM synthesis is complicated enough, anything that simplifies it is good in my book

    If you use this 🎹 with USB to the pc,... Can you use software vst to chance the parameter of the interface?

  • @evankeal
    @evankeal 4 года назад

    It's a unique invention. But often unmentioned is the expression of the keybed, it carried over something from the 80s Yamahas that makes it nothing like standard synthesis boards. Unfortunately they probably wont expand on what they started with this interface design.

      its an fm synth so you can make sounds that an fm synthesizer can make using keyword: fm synthesis :)

    • @sergioXVII

      You can use a midi controller to control every single parameter, you know

    • @DarkSideofSynth
      @DarkSideofSynth 5 лет назад +13

      @@sergioXVII Shhhh! Don't let them know. Bashing on small keys is the hobby of the century for modern synth lovers who don't get it that you can use this in the studio by connecting any keyboard you like, the DX is not that large, and if you want to take it to a gig or go play in the woods, you just unplug the controller. Best of both worlds. The Reface series is not a series of desktop or rack modules (that's Roland's boutique series). And if it were, we'd still have people complaining in the opposite direction: oh if only this would be portable and battery-powered... ;)

    • @B0K1T0
      @B0K1T0 2 года назад +1

      I actually love the small keys.. I never learnt to properly play the piano, but just messing around pretty much daily on my refaces.
      And sometimes when I manage to play some of those slightly more complicated chords I'm thinking "how on earth do people get their fingers like this on regular size keys?!" 🤣

  • @Some_Guy_Called_Raven
    @Some_Guy_Called_Raven 3 года назад

    Well crap. I was hoping I could emulate this on my DX9, but this seems very different. For example, the algorithms are strange and I don't believe DX9 does feedback on more tan than one operator.

    Idk why, but in my opinion reface cs more easy and sound more warm than reface dx pads type edit
