    If you open up the hot water and all your Faucets in the house you shouldn't need to worry about the pressure relief valve because the air will push through but it's definitely a good idea to check the valve when you think it's close to full

    How can you check the relief valve if it's on top

      Pretty much the same way. Unfortunately you or something might get wet unless you have a piece of pipe and maybe an elbow to put on that valve. One person commented that he opened all faucets in the house. That is good and probably have to do so to get air out at point of faucets. But sometimes a water heater may be in a crawl space or somewhere and you can't get inside of the house. Long story short - if you working on a hot water tank whether the relief valve is on the side or top - open valve to release air. In your case with valve on top - I would open and closed few times, (maybe 30 seconds or so in-between) keeping my eyes and ears open for when water is coming out of top valve - to be closed so everything didn't get wet.

    Why would I get hot water backing up through the cold side ??

      Could be a number of things: interior crack, bad check valve, if water heater is to close to cold pipes, ect.. to name a few. How long has it been backing up? How old is your tank?

    Why does anyone need a "Hot Water Heater"?

  • @bhcpp
    @bhcpp 7 месяцев назад

    There is no such thing as a hot water heater. Hot water is already hot no need to heat it. What you have is a cold water heater.

    No permits , no insurance ,no problem 🤦‍♂️ ..... No way this is legal. Do it right and hire a Licenced professional Plumber. Your safety depends on it. You better hope your local AHJ does not catch wind of this work , Big fines ....BTW its a Water Heater not a "Hot Water Heater"

      Thank you for watching and your comment! I'm not taking any money out of your pocket or anyone else. I don't even know you. Excuse me if you don't like my terminology. This is my house and my hot water heater. KEY WORD - MY. I'm not going around doing this for a living, but I will help someone in need. FYI, I am a Licensed Master Electrician. Second, I know the codes and what permits are needed for the area that I live in. Obviously you have nothing else to do but critize me for fixing something for myself at my own home. Again, I thank you for watching and May God Bless You!
