You have three! Nothing like removing cover on a big bad model, then wipe it off the map with some hunterkillers and lascannon. My favorite models to lead an assault with sentries in tow. Good for flanking, but I like to use them as a big distraction in the front. By far those are the best looking detailing i've seen. Really good job with the track details.
What I’ve found to be the best thing about them- perceived threat No on really wants to move within range of one or charge an objective that can be over-watched Every time I’ve used one my opponent has been apprehensive of them. They have a fearsome reputation and that in itself can justify adding to the list
You brought up the best point... that I never even mentioned. The threat of Overwatch is one of the best things about the Hellhound. I once wiped out an entire Fire Warrior unit with a Hellhound in overwatch. It can be very deadly.
Hellhounds are amazing screening tanks. I use them as flankers or distraction pieces. Charging them into melee and being a menace. I take 2-3 every game now
I always run this with Inferno cannon and a multimelta. The way I use it is to aggressively move it up the table, if needed with move move move and fire at either something close or something in need of debuffing. After that I charge it with Tank Shock (T10 ftw). Whatever I charge is unlikely to kill it meaning it has to fall back or be -1 to hit. The Hell Hound is also -1 but the flamer isn't so it's still easy to debuff anything and the Meltas occasionally kill something. The missile I usually launch prior to charging. In my last game this tactic also screwed with my opponents ability to deep strike since my Hell Hound became an awesome center table denier. I used to disregard this unit but now it's one of my autoincludes. Tanky, feared for overwatch and do not need orders to be good.
Great review, my man! I feel like I need to add 1 or 2 to my own Guard. My brother brings 2 in every list and at T10, it often takes some fault dedicated firepower to bring down. :)
Im sad noone refers to them by variant name, i always introduce them as Hellhounds, Bane wolfs and Devil dogs. Ill never forget my Desolation Squad of 1 HellHound and 2 Devil dogs. Devil doggos were always my favorite, sneaking in fast high risk high reward armor / monster kills.
STR 9 melta is so messed up though, wounding on a 5+ against any comparably armored unit , if it had anti vehicle/monster +4 on it it would be awesome. I also think blast works against it since you need to be 9 inches away to really use that melta +4 and your about to get charged. I'm happier with the chem/flam variants
Don't forget the squadron keyword gives it lethal hits against monsters/vehicles, it's something at least Edit: Just did the math-hammer for it: Lethal hits is statistically slight better than having +1 to wound (e.g anti monster 4+)
@@Booker8991that is true. If buffed to BS 3+ it's the same amount of wounds but against T9 or lower it's also better than an anti 4+ since then that buff means nothing. That said, I still prefer the Inferno cannon for what else it brings
My favorite phrase with Hellhounds: "Some people want to watch the world burn. I'm the one who wants to set it alight!"

Nice discussion, thanks. I haven’t picked up a hellhound yet, but appreciate the insights.
After a rhino for spacemarines, hellhound was my first vehicle back in '95 with the metal bits. ❤
I absolutely LOVE these light tanks!

i feel like inferno cannon is the best even into infantry.
Its also got the highest potential damage on overwatch which the opponent must respect.

I miss its old explosion rules.
Removing cover with the long-ranged heavy stubber and heavy bolter is such a fun time
No heavy stubber on this one though.. only turret, missile and front, no pintle.
@karlnygren right! I forgot about that
I am a big fan of the hellhound!
Chem variant would be fun as Brood Brothers as well. Also no mention of the double flamer overwatch option?
Which magnet size you need for this and leman russ tanks?
For the magnetic tray attachment: two 4x2mm or 5x2mm
For weapons: often 2x3mm or 2x2mm.

Comment for the Algorithm 🙏
Thank you!
Removing cover then hammering with indirect fire sounds naaaasty
Nasty for the Chaos players 🤣
I hate 3d shots
