Maybe if he was 10 years younger and goes all in and tirains and plays for at least 10 years with an elite trainer. The technique is just a part of the success. Experience is VERY important
If he started as a kid, yes. Although he would have had to live in Spain probably hehe. It is mostly in the talent that someone has. Lots of very talented kids did not know in what sport they would excel. Especially ball-sport talents. Many current world class soccer players could have become top 10 in tennis had they picked tennis when the decision of what sport they would continue would come up. Jannick Sinner eventually picked tennis but he could also have been a ski champion had he continued that. Jack Sock switched to pickleball and would probably have been #1 there had he picked it right away etc etc.
As I was watching Alcaraz-Zverev yesterday I asked myself the same but about Alcaraz. And I think he could adapt very fast to padel due to the great variability of his game and how he uses ALL the tennis court. Some of these young tennis players are very innovative in how they play and that makes them very fast in their thinking, in their reactions and physically (all qualities needed in padel) as opposed to a different style of tennis that consists in being very deep in the court and just being an impenetrable wall (a style that doesn't transfer well into padel).
Great question! Hmmm, probably not - as you said, padel is at a whole other level nowadays with guys like Galan and Tapia. But who knows, maybe if he started when he was 6-7?
Lol if he started at age 6-7 he would be more dominant than he was in tennis as the competition is quite a bit less than what it is in tennis. A better question would be if he could achieve it if he started at age 15.
Very interesting video. As a tennis player who knows how hard padel is, I don't think there is any chance for Federer to become a top 100 player if he would start a professional career now anyways if he would have started at the same age he started tennis then yeah he would have had a very big chance to become a top 10 player.
I think this makes a lot of sense. I think Monfils will likely play padel once he can't keep playing main tour level tennis and at that point I think his path will be a good barometer of what the transfer of training looks like
I reckon Fed could if he just hung around net waiting for volleys and smashes and had Padelactico doing all the work behind him picking everything up of the glass.
If this is true then it shows why padel is superior to pickle ball, because Sock at the level of the best pickle ball players already while he is not in good enough shape to even be top 100 in tennis.
Great video, I know that Daniel W have said he have looked up to Alex Ruiz due that he also has a tennis background. I have not find info if that's true or not. Maybe something to look into and add for next video?
Great Video! No way of knowing how good he would have become if going into padel in his prime? Look at Windahl and then you add that Fed is one of the most skilled athletes of all time in any sport, plus he had the physicality as well, a physique and movement way above any top padel player today, What he would have lacked in wallskills he would have made up with insane skills at the net and from the back...
@@peterlappland Yep, good point! But I think there’s still a big difference between top 50 guys and the players in the top 10 (and more specifically the number ones who are at an insane level).
Impossible to know but with his touch and talent he would develop super quick. Comparison for swindahl is not that good because feds was in different level in every possible way. Of course the world top would be too far as he is old already. If he would have started padel with good coach and 100% committed at he age of 25 or so I’m 100% sure he would’ve reached top10 in 5 years
I still think 5 years is probably too short to be sure he would make top 10. Maybe he’d have a chance but even the top 20 guys now are so good. Very difficult to know though because it’s so unlikely that such a successful tennis player would ever to switch to padel in their prime! Thanks for the comment :)
You want to reach top 10 in the world? That would be impossible if you don't have a lot of experience yet. You have 15+ years less of experience than the top 50 players and they are also all very talented players.
Lawn tennis cannot cover all possible needs of people. I heard the following classification: beach tennis - for already “broken” tennis players, pickleball - for old people, padel - for those who want to quickly “get into” the game.
Of course, padel is a childrens sport compared to the physical, technical and mental toughness of tennis, they are simply two different worlds difficulty wise
Could Federer be no. 1 in padel. Let us know what you think? 🎾 💪🏼 🏆
Don't think so. Think it's really important to start at a young age. The wall shots are no joke

@@Funkytrip73 Great comment ! :)
Impossible . Not even top 100. Is a completely different sport . Same viceversa . If tapia want to be top 100 in tennis would be the same. Impossible

I was thinking the same! It's likely that growing up in Spain Alcaraz played quite a bit of padel so maybe he has borrowed some techniques.
Thx for the vid. Looking forward to the next padel vlog. It is my favourite of all out there. ❤
Thanks! Yep that’s coming very soon :)
my favourite Padel commentator on my favourite tennis player ❤
Great video as usual.

love your vids brother!
Thank you bro 🤩!

Defo agree with this !!!

So wrong
What about Ramy Ashour - imagine he'd be more prolific than Federer if he took up Padel
Now that would be interesting...
Hmmm, hard to say but I agree with David - only if he started young🙃
Is it possible to become a professional lawn tennis player at the age of 19 and then the first racket of the world at 43 years old?
I think this makes a lot of sense. I think Monfils will likely play padel once he can't keep playing main tour level tennis and at that point I think his path will be a good barometer of what the transfer of training looks like
Wow, not sure i’d ever heard that Monfils would consider playing padel seriously. But that could be interesting !
@@Padelactico there is quite a lot of content of him playing online

That’s interesting! I’d never heard that - will defo think about it for next time.
He played a lot a squash as a kid from what I heard so I believe he'd already be adjusted to playing off walls.

Agree - Fed would’ve been a beast at the net, but defending off the wall is such a key part of the game !!!

let me tell you another top ten tenis player who in the 90s turn succesfully to Padel Víctor Pecci
What Are your Goals in Padel? And do you think (starting by 22 years, With no Racket Experience at all) it is still possible to reach the Top10?
Will reveal that soon. For your second question, that’s very difficult but keep grinding and see how far you can get !

Quick answer, NO.
Padel is Tennis from AliExpress
