clean this before too late. BMW X3 VANOS solenoid filter

This video show how to clean up BMW X3 E83 N52 VANOS solenoid filter. it locate underneath the rocker valve cover. This video will show up where it locate and how to clean up with the process. a dirty or blocked VANOS filter may cause the inefficiency of VANOS performance and it may cause the certain timing cranking fault.
A VANOS solenoid, operated by engine oil pressure and controlled by the engine control module (ECM), advances and retards intake valve timing by rotating the modified camshaft sprocket assembly. At low engine speeds, intake valves open late, ensuring smooth engine operation.

My X3 was showing no codes but I thought I would try inspecting one of the filters. 2007 115,000kms and it was like brand new, did not require cleaning. But thanks for posting this video, good to know

haha, it's depends on how you wear on the machine. including fuel consumed, maintenance and air dirt level. 👍

hi, potentially its didn't have a code for this. when this filter clogged, it may effect on the function of Vanos. those errors code related to Vanos solenoid may cause by this.

Oil will drain back to pan. Might get some residual oil but not much.
