Hello Tony, I’m from U.K. I have been watching some of your videos and they are very informative. I am 49 year old female with a mild scoliosis, I have been searching for good chiropractors in my area, I did find a chiropractic and wellness centre, but after watching your videos I’ve come to realise that not all chiropractors have the extensive knowledge on scoliosis as they are general chiropractors. You mentioned about “CLEAR” I have searched CLEAR in U.K but nothing was coming up. I was wondering if you know any chiropractors in U.K that specifically treat scoliosis like yourself, the chiropractic and wellness centre that I’ve been looking into does say on their website that they treat scoliosis but I wanted to see someone that has the extensive knowledge, I live in Essex London, as you are a chiropractor you might know really good chiropractors in U.K that purely treat scoliosis patients, if you don’t know anyone then how can I know if the chiropractors that I will be seeing are really good, are their any questions that I should ask the chiropractor to find out if he or she has that extensive training and knowledge on scoliosis ? Very informative, thank you! I'm over 60 and have idiopathic scoliosis plus degenerative scoliosis, the latter having developed after an injury in the QL region, about 13 years ago. It's now unfortunately a recurring injury due to weakness in that muscle. I wish I'd known about scoliosis reduction about 30 years ago! I've never let a chiropractor touch me, and I never will. I need to have physiotherapy more often to reduce the tightness you mentioned. My idiopathic scoliosis wasn't discovered until in my 20's and I was told that it was too late to wear a brace. I think they were wrong to say that. I believe that a wearing a good brace for a few hours daily, should be part of the reduction therapy along with physiotherapy and exercise. I bet that women who wore corsets probably had little or no scoliosis! But their back muscles would have been weak from lack of work and constantly wearing the corset. We each need to find the happy medium!

My doctor wants to do surgery on me. My x-rays have changed so dramatically in 2 years. I can tell by the pain and being unable to hold my shoulders up and leaning to the left side. PT has helped a lot, then I will have to do them the rest of my life unless I have the surgery done. The recovery time will be close to a year. My fear is that how do you know which pain is coming from what area? I have a few discs that are gone plus arthritis. If they fix my scoliosis the pain may still be there because it may not be coming from there. I know the pain in my side is coming from scoliosis because it's pulling me in that direction. My right side is so tight because my curve is trying to pull me back to the left and I've worked so much on the right side since I'm right-handed that we're working to get it built back up to match the left. It gets confusing trying to describe it. I don't know what to do.
Hi thank you so much for this info. I've been searching for help. I was born with scoliosis s curve well since adolescence my curve has been 25 degree to right between shoulder blades and 15 degrees to left lower back up to age 49..now it's shifted increased to 27 degrees and from 15 to 22 degrees. I actually felt it shifting and the pain. Now my pain is worse I'm worried and want to stop it and try and correct it so I can live my life. Are you able to help? I'm very worried about it progressing more. Thank you

Hello. I wish I was closer to you. I'm terrified to let most drs nearby treat my scoliosis. I'm female (of course apparently), early 40s, been very healthy my whole life then, out of nowhere, I started having severe back pain & it was thought to be a slipped disc... After seeing a Dr I was diagnosed with scoliosis. Within a few months I became mostly handicapped, deformed; my legs are several inches off, my ribs are twisted & badly bent UNDER my hip bone, there's several bones poking out at the curve, my shoulders/breasts/face etc are badly uneven & I'm bent over at the waist all-day everyday, 70° curve, my nerves are obviously damaged since my leg goes numb & it sends sharp crippling volts to different areas, I'm exhausted, scared, afraid to be alone but refuse to go out butttt the pain is absolutely the worst part of this so far!!!! It is constant. I've gotten 'used to' half of it & can push through but there's a lot of intense pain & it changes in areas too.. I've lost 15 lbs which is quite a bit because I'm 5 foot tall (or I was). I'll stop rambling... For now. I hope to find a Dr in my area ASAP that I feel comfortable jumping into treatment with! I haven't given up on driving to FL yet tho
I was told that it was too late to help me....I was 12 years old. i am now 73. I've lived a mostly ok life, but lately I find pain when I get out of bed. In fact, I limp. But I take 2 generic Aleve and manage to live my life normally, which includes staking firewood. In fact, the more I move, the better I feel. But I do find that daily exercises help a lot. I've lost 1 1/2 inches in height over the years. I hope anyone who is able to, gets treatment as soon as possible.

I had an accident and found out I have had; chiropractor subluxation, anterior head carriage, degenerative joint disease, degenerative disc disease and scoliosis Hyperkyphosis of thoracic Spondylitisthesis C3-C4 Grade 1. I was told it could of started 10 yes ago, now I don't have insurance to cover this " plan" the chiropractor put me on. What's is, if any good he treatments? And I just turned 50

Hello Doctor, my curve is 70 it affects my lung and my left leg with numbness in my left foot. Do you think Massage and physical therapy are good for me?
I wore a back brace from age 12-15 (I'm a female btw) do you think should I still go to see my doctor? Females usually grow until the age of 15-16 so I was recommended to wear it till I reached that age to prevent the progression of my curve.

That would be great… I am guessing I need to find out what my curvature number is before doing so? All I know right now off hand is when I had an mri that showed I have 3 herniated discs from 2008 i was told I have degenerative disc disease and scoliosis that is straightening in my lower/small of my back and curving at the top of my spine/base of neck but its nothing to worry about. I also recently herniated another disc in 2020 (that caused severe sciatica damage) and I need surgery to remove. I also associated my back pain with the disc disease etc but now maybe its from the scoliosis all along. Probably due to both in the long run but even when the chiropractor cracks my back I dread it cause it hurts so much but apparently is needed for my back injuries.

This sounds great only you are not in every state or city. So what happens to the rest of us? I found out I have Scoliosis just before I turned 69. I have gone from being very active more so then people in their 30,40, and so on. Now I don’t do much of anything because of the pain. I want my old life back but it seems like that will never happen to hear everyone talk about it. It is very frustrating. I don’t know if I should brace or not. I see a chiropractor and he has helped with the pain but it does nothing for how I stand or walk. I get if you want to exercise you can but what exercises. I guess I want someone to tell me what is best I don’t want to have to figure it out on my own.

This makes me so sad. I have been dismissed over and over by my physical medicine doctor. I have lower back pain, popping hips, shoulder pain and feel like my spine gets stuck. I don't know what else to do.

I’m 40 my beck pain killing me every day! I didn’t took nothing for pain until 4 years ago,I had no idea there are pain meds for this! I’m a 66 year old lady with extreme scoliosis which is real bad my curve is a S shaped curve. I’m in severe pain everyday plus have oxygen. Plus, have stenosis and arthritis. I did have an operation when I was 10 yrs old. All they did was take some bone out of each of my legs and fused that with my back. This operation was done in 1967. I wish something could be done. I have a mild scoliosis, i am 19 years old, i visited an orthopaedic he said since your height wont grow, my curve wont get worsen over time, how much true this statement is?
Omg, hi! I am 19 years old and I just visited my doctor. He said that I should have an active lifestyle and stretches. He said my curve won't progress since I am now done with my growth spurt.
I am 69 years old and they told me that when I stopped growing, My curve would stop. That's not true. You really have to work at keeping yourself active, to keep your muscles working. Stretching is extremely important! I also keep a chin up bar in my bedroom door and hang on it a few times a day. Dead weight hanging. I'm very flexible and strong because I never stopped doing things. Swimming is very good, stretching but many yoga poses are not good for scoliosis. Over the last 5 years, mine has started to twist instead of curve. I do twisting stretches too. I twist in the opposite direction of where it's trying to go. I also do arm exercises and back exercises but nothing to strenuous, mostly just stretching it the opposite direction. My curve is 68°, but most people don't know it when I'm dressed. I've always subconsciously kept myself very much in line. Even doctors that I go in and visit and talk to don't realize how bad it is until they see an x-ray. It does take a lot of work and keeping in shape. I've never been one of five pounds overweight because I know that's horrible for my back. It's also good to take D3 and K2. Many people will tell you take D3 for your bone but they don't know about k2. K2 directs the calcium to get into your bones and not into your arteries.

I was diagnosed with scoliosis when I was 12 to 13 years old. I did have to wear a brace at night time only for a year or 2. they were able to stop the progression, at the time, as well as lessening it by 2degrees. I think it was taken from 30 to 28, or maybe 29 to 27. As i grew up, i was in good shape for around 10 years. When I had my son i had back pain but thought it was due to the pregnancy. unfortunately, I began a long road to the deterioration of my spine and what I currently live with. My last xray that I had taken was several years ago, and at that time it was measured at 59degrees with an additional secondary curvature of around 12degrees. My doctor wants to do surgery on me. My x-rays have changed so dramatically in 2 years. I can tell by the pain and being unable to hold my shoulders up and leaning to the left side. PT has helped a lot, then I will have to do them the rest of my life unless I have the surgery done. The recovery time will be close to a year. My fear is that how do you know which pain is coming from what area? I have a few discs that are gone plus arthritis. If they fix my scoliosis the pain may still be there because it may not be coming from there. I know the pain in my side is coming from scoliosis because it's pulling me in that direction. My right side is so tight because my curve is trying to pull me back to the left and I've worked so much on the right side since I'm right-handed that we're working to get it built back up to match the left. It gets confusing trying to describe it. I don't know what to do.

I was born with scoliosis s curve well since adolescence my curve has been 25 degree to right between shoulder blades and 15 degrees to left lower back up to age 49..now it's shifted increased to 27 degrees and from 15 to 22 degrees. Hello. I wish I was closer to you. I'm terrified to let most drs nearby treat my scoliosis. I'm female (of course apparently), early 40s, been very healthy my whole life then, out of nowhere, I started having severe back pain & it was thought to be a slipped disc... After seeing a Dr I was diagnosed with scoliosis. Within a few months I became mostly handicapped, deformed; my legs are several inches off, my ribs are twisted & badly bent UNDER my hip bone, there's several bones poking out at the curve, my shoulders/breasts/face etc are badly uneven & I'm bent over at the waist all-day everyday, 70° curve, my nerves are obviously damaged since my leg goes numb & it sends sharp crippling volts to different areas, I'm exhausted, scared, afraid to be alone but refuse to go out butttt the pain is absolutely the worst part of this so far!!!! It is constant. I've gotten 'used to' half of it & can push through but there's a lot of intense pain & it changes in areas too.. I've lost 15 lbs which is quite a bit because I'm 5 foot tall (or I was). I'll stop rambling... For now. I hope to find a Dr in my area ASAP that I feel comfortable jumping into treatment with! I haven't given up on driving to FL yet tho

I was told that it was too late to help me....I was 12 years old. i am now 73. I've lived a mostly ok life, but lately I find pain when I get out of bed. In fact, I limp. That would be great… I am guessing I need to find out what my curvature number is before doing so? All I know right now off hand is when I had an mri that showed I have 3 herniated discs from 2008 i was told I have degenerative disc disease and scoliosis that is straightening in my lower/small of my back and curving at the top of my spine/base of neck but its nothing to worry about. I also recently herniated another disc in 2020 (that caused severe sciatica damage) and I need surgery to remove. I also associated my back pain with the disc disease etc but now maybe its from the scoliosis all along. Probably due to both in the long run but even when the chiropractor cracks my back I dread it cause it hurts so much but apparently is needed for my back injuries.

This sounds great only you are not in every state or city. So what happens to the rest of us? I found out I have Scoliosis just before I turned 69. I have gone from being very active more so then people in their 30,40, and so on. Now I don’t do much of anything because of the pain. I want my old life back but it seems like that will never happen to hear everyone talk about it. It is very frustrating. I don’t know if I should brace or not. I see a chiropractor and he has helped with the pain but it does nothing for how I stand or walk. I get if you want to exercise you can but what exercises. I guess I want someone to tell me what is best I don’t want to have to figure it out on my own.

I’m a 66 year old lady with extreme scoliosis which is real bad my curve is a S shaped curve. I’m in severe pain everyday plus have oxygen. Plus, have stenosis and arthritis. Omg, hi! I am 19 years old and I just visited my doctor. He said that I should have an active lifestyle and stretches. He said my curve won't progress since I am now done with my growth spurt.

I am 69 years old and they told me that when I stopped growing, My curve would stop. That's not true. You really have to work at keeping yourself active, to keep your muscles working. Stretching is extremely important! I also keep a chin up bar in my bedroom door and hang on it a few times a day. Dead weight hanging. I'm very flexible and strong because I never stopped doing things. Swimming is very good, stretching but many yoga poses are not good for scoliosis. Over the last 5 years, mine has started to twist instead of curve. I do twisting stretches too. I twist in the opposite direction of where it's trying to go. I also do arm exercises and back exercises but nothing to strenuous, mostly just stretching it the opposite direction. My curve is 68°, but most people don't know it when I'm dressed. I've always subconsciously kept myself very much in line. Even doctors that I go in and visit and talk to don't realize how bad it is until they see an x-ray. It does take a lot of work and keeping in shape. I've never been one of five pounds overweight because I know that's horrible for my back. It's also good to take D3 and K2. Many people will tell you take D3 for your bone but they don't know about k2. K2 directs the calcium to get into your bones and not into your arteries.

I was diagnosed with scoliosis when I was 12 to 13 years old. I did have to wear a brace at night time only for a year or 2. they were able to stop the progression, at the time, as well as lessening it by 2degrees. I think it was taken from 30 to 28, or maybe 29 to 27. As i grew up, i was in good shape for around 10 years.
