Will make clearing your viehicles alot easier. The Moving Blankets are usually soft enough to not scratch the paint.
A telescopic car broom with a brush on one edge and a rubber blade on the other edge and an ice scraper on the other end are the best tool for clearing snow, especially on larger vehicles like trucks and SUVs where your arms reach is limited.
A Very Merry and Blessed Christmas to you all!! Here in Maple Ridge BC Canada we just had our second white Christmas in the last 13 years. It was quite the experience for our grandkids to wake up to Santa's gifts and a little bit of a White Christmas
Martin, I have said it before, you have a beautiful family. Makes building a home the best thing that you could provide. I would honestly suggest some jiffy chains for your vehicles and some real chains for the tractor. I thought you had a differential lock on the tractor so all four tires would have traction all the time. Snow is the only time its good for an really if you get in trouble with them, its a winch or tow truck to move it as it tries to find china.
Your definetly right about everything coming to.a.stop for a few inches of snow well here in the UK anyways. But to be fare that car park at Walmart was full of trucks bigger than the town I live in lol
Merry Christmas! My only way to see Christmas snow is on RUclips - high of 75 in central Arkansas today. If we got that much snow we would be closed down for several days.
Merry Christmas! I am enjoying your daily videos. Living in Grand Rapids, Michigan I can totally relate to the snow, but you have excess right now! We are actually having 40 and 50 degree weather the last few days here and I am loving it. I think you need to invest in remote car starters! It's been fun seeing your daughter home, I will miss seeing her when she leaves again. God bless you all in the coming year.
When the temperature gets down close to zero or below a great starting aid for the tractor is a hair dryer. Open the air filter housing and stick it in there on high. You don't need to wait, just do the normal glow plug sequence and crank it over. It won't damage the engine like starting fluid. Block heaters are 1-2kw, probably not a good idea for your power setup. If you get regular snows like that you may consider a blower for the tractor, and tire chains too.
Yes!! Tire chains really help in deep snow. Many years ago in N. Minn. I was working at a ski resort. It was closing time and cars were leaving the parking lot. I go to leave and see two cars nose to nose trying to get one car started. (A common occurrence.) Oh yeah, it was around -20F all day. These guys just couldn't get the car started. (Also not uncommon at the time.) I went over to help with a sure fix. The spark plugs usually would frost over and short out the plugs. The trick was to take 3 - 4 plugs out (for a V8) and heat them up with a propane torch (which I kept in my trunk). So, we pull the plugs, heat them up, put them back in and go to fire it up. I see a can of starting fluid laying on the snow...I asked how much they used..."not very much." Ok, crank it... He did. Followed by a huge ka-boom! 3 - 4 spark plugs were blown out of the engine due to over half a jumbo trucker sized can of starting ether having been loaded into the engine before hand. We found the plugs buried in the fenders. "Not very much huh?" And, I left...
@@WarpFactor999 even worse than that is someone filling the intake of a diesel with nose candy and then turning the glow plugs on, 😂. I've heard of the propane torch trick on spark plugs, I've fortunately never been reduced to that.
@@WarpFactor999 I've started a stubborn Willy's jeep with a propane torch, not lit, but running wide open upside down in the carburetor. It would idle on it, but nothing more.
Froehliche Weinachten und ein Gesundes Neues Jahr! MERRY CHRISTMAS AND A HEALTHY NEW YEAR! Marty, you need a snow suit to keep warm. Jules,Sarah and Seth, you have great parents- God Bless you all ! Semper Fi, Peter
Loving our north Idaho snow! Shoveling? Not so much. I at least created a path to my woodpile and to the garage where I'm preparing for the final plumbing inspection of the new retreat center. Let it snow!
Those humidifier you have on the stove are great! We have one and we put cinnamon sticks we get from the store and put in the water and it smells up the whole house it’s great!
Man that is some Snow !. Yes its true here in UK we get a snow fall, and we cant cope, Annoying when the weather forecasters say its gonna snow the road people do nothing!!. loved the Julie snow angel, Sarah dunked her face in Snow You did a snow Angel, Challenge Marty to do something in the snow!!. I think youre family is part Eskimo!!, seeing as you love the snow soo much, (ha-ha). Have a wonderfull Christmas break and may all youre New Year projects go well. Love from UK. x x
For me here, today is Christmas. With being out in the snow all day, shoveling, on the tractor plowing snow, moving vehicles around, helping the neighbor...I would have given you a pass on the pushups today. Good job keeping the pushups going. Merry Christmas Johnson family.
Wow! Just a little bit of snow. Yous are just south of the border and we have some tho nothing like you have and are sitting at -21. Such a joy to watch and follow your channel. Stay safe and warm!
Merry Christmas Johnson Family :) I started your pushup challenge on the 21st, I've done many many sets of 20 to try and catch up, I just did the 25 along with you guys a few minutes ago, I only have 45 more to go to catch up with the monthly total of 325...Yes Jules, that's right, you've done 325 pushups to date. Way to go everyone :)
Merry Christmas. Some real hard and freezing work there. Now here in the UK, we would really show you how to do it. With that level of snow we would have shut the door to the country and turned the lights off.
Lol, grew up in deep snow country. We plowed a lane and a parking space--before we moved the vehicles. Then we plowed the rest, and moved the vehicles to where we wanted them.
We used to get snow like that in Nebraska also went out and about. Getting lots of rain in So Cal. Blessings, Merry Christmas and a peaceful Happy New Year. I'll watch your push ups. You are doing great.
Hello, I been living in Sagle, ID for 4 years and love it... I had handful backup plan when power goes out, we use APC backup and 4kw generator (4 - 10gal tanks fuel need because my generator use 5gal per 14 - 18 hours 1/2 load..) We have to make sure my TV dish outside to clear out, but sometime we can't watch it.. We have Streaming channels in case.. Of course MUST have Snow Blower prepare..
Merry Christmas! I did my push-ups to start this glorious morning, and now I'm ready for a nap. lol No snow in Florida, but boy did this video and snow brighten it up! I miss snow, well Christmas Day at least. LOL
Put silicone spray on the rubber door seals, to keep them from getting frozen shut. A much better way of getting a frozen door lock working, (better than those things marketed for the purpose.), is to take a propane torch out with you. Heat the key, and shove it in there and wait a bit.
And you kept telling us you couldn't wait for the snow... Really? In ND we don't hope we get a lot of snow. Merry Christmas and have a Great New Year!! I really like you having a video every day, keep up the good work.
I grew up in Jersey and now I live in East TN in the mountains. We can get up to two feet of snow in one storm. I do not miss all of the shoving of snow, as we have been going to Mexico for the past 7 winters. It is Christmas Day and the temperature is 80 degrees right now.
I’m so jealous of all your snow. Merry Christmas! We lived in northern lower Michigan for a couple of decades and averaged about 180” each winter. Now, just 200 miles south and still in Michigan, winter snowfall is about 1/3 that amount. So, watching your video today was a lot of fun and brought back good memories.
Merry Christmas to you all from Wolverhampton England When ee get snow ours is wet snow it turns to sluchand ice that we have more accidents than enough as people don't know how to drive in that type of weather your snow looks great We love seeing you all every day
Merry Christmas gang! I’m so jealous you have all that snow! I’m in central iowa and we usually get snow by now but nothing 🙁. I love snow and would love to have all that snow! But thanks for all the videos guys! Love watching them! I’m slowly trying to get off grid, hopefully in the next couple years we will be off grid completely…minus the internet cause the wife works from home…for now. Her goal is to quit the corporate life and live off grid.
Merry Christmas to you all! Thank you so much for sharing your adventures with us throughout the year. Your "snowmagedden" reminds me of growing up in N. Minnesota. In 1966 we had a record snow fall for the year with a bit over 8' of snow on the level. Was great for skiing (I was an avid alpine skier at the time), but made it really hard to get around. One of the reasons why I moved to Texas after I got out of the Navy...you don't have to shovel sunshine. ;o) Cheers to you all and God bless!
you have just had your shortest day of daylight but winter is a month behind. enjoy the cold, however your solar will slowly pick up. Hope you had a good christmass. mine was very good with kids & grandkids.
It is 66 deg right now here in Alvarado, TX expected to get upto 84 this afternoon, so not going to be a White Christmas here. Myself I prefer to Visit the Snow over having it come visit me. Snow is nice when I want it, just as long as it goes away when I don't want it. That Snow would have Shut Us Down here, just don't have equipment here to deal with it. You'll have a Merry Christmas!!!
Merry Christmas. I would like to ask about a sloped roof for the apartament stairs so the rain and the snow can be avoided over the steps. In addition, these steps may have metal grating, no pretty but safer. Take care all of you.
On slippery surfaces/snow place the transmission in second gear to start off in . This reduces the wheel spin tendency when delivering full engine power vis first gear.
You have a beautiful amount of snow ❄️ we are very jealous… if we get snow it will be in February or March. I don’t think wr have ever seen a white Xmas
Just a thought, home depot or Lowes sells these sunscreen fabric in tan, black or green in a roll, IIRC 6 ft wide by 50 yds or so. Might think about using some of it to stretch and hang a couple cut-to-size lengths between the posts supporting the porch to act as a see-thru wall. It'll minimize snow landing on the tractor without detracting from overall looks.
Jules is right: when the temperature drops in the Netherlands below 0 Celcius (32 F) public transportation is a mess. Trains can't run on schedule because the tracks are "frozen". Oh you southerners! Snow comes every winter. Love from North Sweden.
I put chains on my tractor yesterday, so hopefully it does not snow all that much! I hate putting them on after it snows!!
A clean push broom works better that a regular broom for cleaning off the vehicles.
A telescopic car broom with a brush on one edge and a rubber blade on the other edge and an ice scraper on the other end are the best tool for clearing snow, especially on larger vehicles like trucks and SUVs where your arms reach is limited.
I have a tarp over my tractor, but I use a leaf blower to dust off the vehicles, the blower works great on the powder and gets in all the crevasses.
Soooo much snow! Getting ready right now to dig our animals out for the day. Can I cry? 😢
Wish we had snow like this now! So fun to catch this video and see familiar places and faces. Love you guys!
Merry Christmas from Mississippi! It is currently 74. Enjoy your videos, especially the laughter!
Big snow day! So much fun and so much work. 😆
Just what Marty ordered, Merry Christmas
I always loved the snow. Not so much now. Thankful to live in Florida now!🌴🌞
