Hey everyone! Just wanted to share our homestead again with you. This is an updated homestead tour and recap of 2022. The previous tour can be found here if you want to compare the two. ruclips.net/video/74djRprpR7Y/видео.html
This comment might be all over the place but I just learned what “homesteading” is and I’m so in love with it. I’ve been researching thing for two days now 😂 Your land is beautiful and I hope one day to have my own land with my family. I currently live in a small apartment with a little yard area that I want to start my own garden in. Your screaming cow and the trios name had me dying laughing.
Hahaha!! Monica is the best! 🤣 And I never knew what homesteading really was either!! It’s so exciting when you finally discover it, isn’t it?! I love you are getting started right where you are!
Beautiful homestead i see me in your kids thats how i grew up Beautiful lifestyle. Your animals are happy jumping around well done here is my subscription support +like💪
I am a new subscriber to your channel. Although I am a city girl, your videos give me a better appreciation of what a farmer's life is like. I hope to view more in the weeks and months ahead. Your perseverance pays off. The closest I will ever be to being a farmer is continuing to enjoy container gardening with my husband. I love the yield that we plant.
I only just found your channel today - this is the first video I've watched. I'm sure I'll enjoy the rest of your family as much as I enjoyed listening to you during this tour. I feel like if we'd met in person we'd be good friends. Thanks for the tour, for sharing your stories and showing us around. It's been a real pleasure getting to know you a bit and definitely getting to know the stories behind your animals, etc. It's such a treat. Take care, Heather
One possible reason it may have taken so long for your crops to germinate in those raised beds is because you put the wood chips down first. There's something about as fresh wood chips break down they tie up the nitrogen, and then your plants will struggle. I tried a big back to eden garden with fresh wood chips and nothing grew the 1st two years. If using wood chips as a base you want really broken down wood chips versus fresh ones.
That’s a really good point! We have a lot more broken down that we can use for this year! I will definitely keep that in mind. We probably learn more from our failures than our successes, truth be told! 🤣
I love your video. Your farm is so cool.I live in Indiana too.I live in a little town.I wish someday I could live on a farm.I bet its hard work and dedication. I hope to see more of your vidios soon take care
First of all, thanks for the video. You have a wonderful farm. I lived my dreams while watching. I hope one day me and my family will have a farm like this. I want my children to grow up this way. I wish you and your family the best wishes.
Thank you for this tour, it is just a beautiful farm. Love your choices of animals, I think you the first ones I have seen that raise reindeer. This was my first time watching y'all, so I am looking forward to future videos especially as spring develops into summer. I appreciate you taking time to film all of this, it was a lot of walking to be sure. I also subscribed. Have a Blessed day.
I just found your channel. Loved seeing your homestead. What a beautiful place! Love the reindeer. Runner ducks are awesome. They lay almost every day. Now you need an emu. 😊 Then my dream Homestead will be complete living vicariously through you!
Thanks for the update! That is a gem of a property. I’m getting dual purpose chicks in late March, and I’ll also get 2 pigs (still pondering which breed).
Enjoy going on the your with you. You have allot going on. Will you sell or eat the meat birds yourselves? Why can you not have goats and reindeer together? So. How big does your miniature pigs get? They don't root as much? Best and least expensive fencing option you use?
We keep a large portion of our meat birds but we also have family that takes some as well. They also help us process so it makes for a fun day. We can’t have sheep or goats with reindeer because they can carry an airborne spore that is lethal to reindeer. Our mini pigs will get upwards of 100 pounds and they don’t root too much…unless they get very bored. We keep them all with at least one other pig and try to give them things for enrichment so they don’t get destructive. And my favorite fencing option has been electric fencing. We like premier one for birds and pigs (when we move them out to pasture) and also just a double wire movable fence for our cows and donkeys has worked great as well and they are very versatile options.
Thanks for sharing!! Such a beautiful property, house, cabin, animals, everything 💛 Loved hearing about y’all’s plans for your property and animals. Did y’all use Zillow to find the property or a realtor? My husband and I are looking for property and my dream is to homestead. We will be moving to a different state and any advice for finding property is appreciated! Hope y’all are well!! 🫶
That’s so exciting! We used Zillow when we first found our property. We had a pretty wide radius when we first started looking because affordable land was hard to come by. I think when looking for homesteading properties, it’s important to know what is most important for you and what you can compromise on. We’ve come to learn that no matter what, it’s a lot of work (meaningful work though) no matter how much is done before you get to the property… but that’s also part of the fun. There’s just so much possibility! Good luck with your search! It’s an adventure!
You a beautiful farm. Where is your farm located what state. Love the names you've given the animals. Hope often do you put a video out. God bless you all. Watching from Alabama.
I am also interested in homesteading and am considering starting it in two years once I have resolved some family matters. What would be the initial cost of setting up a homestead like this from scratch, and what are the operating expenses?
My chickens are free range now. I'm thinking of adding a fence. Do you think I should go electric or not? I don't have much daytime predators and I would still close them in at night.
I think the electric fence is ideal if you plan to move your animals or if you want the ability to take it down easily. If they are more stationary, you could use a more permanent fence.
We have used scare tape in the past. But now we have guineas and a few Roos that have been excellent protection. We had a close call recently and it was pretty awesome seeing them all in action protecting the flock. We also make sure they have plenty of areas to take cover from aerial predators.
Hello Haopy Memorial Day everyone , a friend of mine is giving away her late husband's 2015 KUBOTA M6-141 tractor to a passionate farm lover. If you know of a farmer , school ,teacher, student, family , organization or church that might be interested, please forward this email to them. God bless you, Weber Osborne.
Hello from Bolton in Lancashire here in the UK. I was just wondering if you could build small dams along that creek?. Not to block the water and flood areas, just to raise the level in some areas and use it for irrigation...? Great place by the way and fabulous video.
@@HappyBurrowHomestead I know it can be contentious in some areas but it is worth looking into. You could construct sluice gates within the dams so you can let excess water out or channel it into pipes for irrigation when times of drought occur. Hope you can do it and your family thrive.
Omg I just found your channel as a suggested off @sowtheland. I love the cabin & Lemon & Lime are too sweet! Reindeer are a cool feature that not everyone has! Definitely subscribed/🔔! I'm looking forward to watching you guys, all of your plans & your channel grow while we grow ours too!

Thank you for watching!! We are located in Indiana. We are trying to put out a few videos out a month. And thank you for the kind words! God bless!
Curious, what happened to all the trees near where you live? Looks like everything has been bulldoze down.
Hey!! Love the video, why do you keep reindeer though??
Thanks! Check out our video on why we have our reindeer! REINDEER: Not your average HOMESTEAD animal!

With the heat lamps on the piglets, you kept smelling 🥓bacon?

Tried and clicked on the link but a whole bunch of videos came up and couldn’t find out how the owl got in…..
Hello
How do you keep your chickens from being bothered by hawks or other flying predator?
We have used scare tape in the past. But now we have guineas and a few Roos that have been excellent protection. We had a close call recently and it was pretty awesome seeing them all in action protecting the flock. We also make sure they have plenty of areas to take cover from aerial predators.
