maybe that explains the white marker from Dead Space mobile, it was made by the other side perhaps to protect whatever/whoever from the black/red markers. cuz Vandal seems to break free from the hallucinations after encountering it.
It's a scrapped idea from back when one of the co-writers, Chuck Beaver, wanted the hallucinations to be benevolent and originating from the human mind rather than the Marker, which another developer, Ben Wanat, disagreed with. The idea was abandoned mid-development of Dead Space 2 (there are other cut lines of dialogue from DS2 with Nicole straight up helping Isaac destroy the Marker), and only made an appearance in the Martyr novel that was written early in DS2's production.
@rubencastro811 that's true but I don't like the idea of Chuck beavers idea of what the marker could've been which is an ancient alien M.A.D weapon. hmm, Bonnie Worthington... that Log, it might be the closest we get to learning. wonder if it's still considered when they made Dead Space 3 because if it was, Life in dead space seems like it was designed by a higher power against the wishes of another who created the Markers to purge it or something creating the Brethren moons who possibly must meet a critical mass since they mention "Make Us Whole" potentially meaning they have their own convergence event... is it possible that the convergence event the moons undergo brings that being that did not want life (or maybe, intelligent life unless intelligent life is a natural evolution of life and as such all life would be targeted especially since animals are also targets to this) to spring forth into the universe to end it all in some kind of lovecraftian way, requiring the flesh of trillions if not more to have a form upon the physical dimension... I'm probably just talking out of my ass but that 2nd to last log just got me thinking
Interestingly edgy idea to consider death as the 'natural' state of the universe and 'life' as the unwanted alien infection. Perhaps humans and Necromorphs were the products of warring groups of 'creators' who used different entities as proxies to spread their influence across the universe.
Apparently the original idea for Dead Space 3 and 4 was that 3 would be the culmination of Isaac's psychological journey, while 4 would have him confront the Moons at earth and "facing his destiny". Some parts of the original 4 pitch were reused for 3 DLC, probably in an attempt to bait a sequel after 3 didn't go so well. The later pitch for 4 was to not focus on Isaac or earth, but to take place in a post-apocalyptic setting salvaging ships to survive. The second pitch of 4 was also going to go into the cosmology and what humans could do to escape the necromorphs, also saying that sometimes it's better the devil you know. I do like the idea of the moons just being an intermediary to summon some kind of god of death that wants to exterminate all life, it would explain a lot.
@@Otakumanu I like the idea of them reusing the idea of Isaac being a 'herald of the moon'...by bringing him back as an antagonist, assimilated into the central core of a 'Dead Earth' after the moons had consumed the planet, and forcing Ellie to kill him in order to bring an end to the Necromorph Apocalypse.
