    New hk guy here. I actually got an MKE clone thru century arms as my first experience with the mp5 because I wasn't sure if I would like it. Normally I shoot rifle calibers. So glad you did this video. I was about to drop the $400 lol. Cheers!

    I got one of these and honestly it's a fantastic trigger for what it is. I think Timney marketed these incorrectly. They do have a long reset, so for a sub gun at close range going for speed, these just aren't ideal. However, if you are doing precision slow fire work with 5.56 or 308 ect. then this trigger is great. The actual break is more crisp and clean than any factory HK trigger I've ever tried, tuned or not. I was using mine at 200-300 yards on small steel targets and on paper at 100 yards, and for that they are great. The only use I can see for the 9mm guns is if you are sighting one in and just want a nice light tigger to do it with, but these really should have been sold as a 91/93 trigger, because that's where they are of use.

      I agree that it should be marketed as a break only trigger for single fire long range bench shooting!!!! In that regard, it is much better than a 10-12lb mil trigger regardless of a terrible reset!!!! Even in the case you describe however, $400 is ridiculous......did you try the Heckfire before your Timney purchase? Thanks for sharing your experience.

      @@HKShootingwithDerekG $400 is crazy, I'll be honest, I gave under $300, which is where they should all be at. Never tried the Heckfire.

      @@Ultona If you are looking to do precision work, it is night and day better than the Timney....again like a SSA from Geissele but I know many folks aren't familiar with what that is.....subgun triggers should be single stage!!!!!!!

    • @Ultona
      @Ultona Год назад

      @@HKShootingwithDerekG I'll maybe try one someday, but darn, they are at $400. I also like to be able to use the factory HK selector like I can with the Timney. Shot the Geissele triggers too, they are the best in an AR, you are right.

      @@Ultona shootingsight heckfire is a much smaller company than Timney and comes with selector levers making the trigger system work in ambi or sef packs…..and a better 2 stage trigger by far…..not cheap either but a clear winner at the $400 price point!! For $400 they should be single stage, 3lb break, minimal reset, and come with free packs of bratwurst!

    Here's an alternative - I installed a Lee Sporting Trigger housing on my HK SP89 and it's a game changer. Better ergos than the HK grip since it utilizes any AR pistol grip, safety and AR trigger. I now have an AR Hiperfire trigger on my HK and it's awesome. Short reset, crisp break etc. Perfect for a SP5 or SP5K. I'm a lefty and being able to use a short-throw AR 45-degree safety is so much better. The standard HK or Navy safety levers have always been a bit awkward to me.

    Timney has been a catastrophe here lately. Botched the CZ Scorpion trigger release and had to relaunch it. The Glock triggers are great (when they fit and work). 3 of 4 of the ones I've had did not work out of the box as advertised and required extensive fitting. Perhaps they need to stick with AR and Rem700 triggers!

    Comparing the Timney trigger to a Gisele ar trigger is promoting confusing information.
    While I have no other MP5 triggers to compare to the Timney I’ll say it’s night and day better than a stock MP5 unit. Price point is right on par with a heckfire and any issues I had with mine Timney fixed them no questions asked.
    No break in time on mine installed and ran flawlessly. Take up on mine is not as severe as the poster. And poster didn’t say how much their custom unit cost in time and money to get it to work the way it does.
    If you want a complete drop in unit I would highly suggest the Timney.

      I really liked mine. I had issues with it firing on reset, sent it back and got another one. Less than 1 magazine it started having the same issue. I sent it back and got a refund. The owner sent me an email after saying they had discovered the issue, apologized for my persistent issues, and said they were rolling out the fix.
      I haven't tried it since it the issue was supposedly resolved, but I really liked the trigger when it was working. Short throw on the safety, short reset, nice crisp trigger.

    The Timney Glock Alpha gen 3 trigger also has a very long reset , the first stage is nice though. I dont think people will be happy running a single stage for defensive purposes though. Where can we get that single stage that you have ?
